  1. That's exactly how I see the Bills Defense. Good, EXCEPT when the need to be. Final drive of the half... Jets score. Mid 4th quarter... jets nice drive and score. The Pats did it in Week 1 and now the Jets do it - get the drive when its most important.
  2. In my opinion JP played a great game. By far, his best! By far. We lst the game for 1 reason: Absolutely no pass rush!
  3. Everyone wanted JP to air it out and take advantage of the Jets secodary. Well, they got their wish. JP has a great game, statistically - along with a few mistakes and the loss.
  4. How can we have all these fast receivers and none of them ever be open?
  5. How we can completely dominate and go into half time down by 4 is incredible!
  6. I'm not saying getting 3 yds is bad. And if it was a QB sneak where the ball was hiked to Chad and he ran (more like a QB draw), then that wouldn't even be an issue. But from what I saw (and granted I could have seen it wrong), it was a short yardage QB sneak. Ya know with where the QB just dives into the center/gap and gets the yard needed for first down. The reason that was horrible, as I saw it, was the play is designed to get a yard or 2; and in no way will ever gain more than a few yards. Why not call a conventional run or something? Even if its designed to only get a few yards, the running back might break it and get much more.
  7. First, I'm not nearly as impressed with the Jets as I was. It looks like the classic scenario of a good team running up the score early on a bad team. Good team then takes it easy and Bad team gets a few breaks and starts to comeback. Once the score gets to within a touchdown, the Good team turns it back on and shuts them down. I actually feel much better about tomorrow's game. I've been wondering why everyone has been posting that we'll blow the Jets out - now I know. I still don't think that'll happen; this is one of those divisional games that both teams always seem to play tough. So, I'd be surprised if anyone gets blown out. 2nd Observation: What was up with the QB sneak on 1st down when the Jets were driving in the 4th quarter? They were down 24-14, had the ball on about the Pats 18, first down; and what do they do? QB sneak, now its 2-7. Two plays later they kick the field goal. Did I miss something on the replay? Because that play call has got to be about the worst call in the history of history.
  8. I completely agree. I think Marv and Co. have done an excellent job (or so it seems a few weeks into the season) at keeping players/personnel that still have something to offer the organization. And they've retained and released people in decent and "high character" way. I've thoguht all along that the biggest change needed at OBD was in upper management and consequently the atmosphere within the organization. The hiring of Marv (and his subsequent staff), the attitude he brings, and the way that he deals with staff will do far more to change the losing atmosphere surrounding the Bills than any player signing or firing.
  9. Also, could not putting him on IR and paying him the way we are be a clever way to garner loyalty from TV; hence he readily stays and helps tutor the young players. Furthermore, by treating someone as well respected as TV like this, it seems the Bills are telling other players/free agents that Buffalo is a great team and organization to be around. Again, a clear way to garner loyalty from existing players and entice would be free agents in the future. I, for one, have no problem with paying TV a few million this year. Heck, we have plenty of salary money to spare. Plus if it gets us good will from the players association, the league, and potential free agents - all while providing additional tutiledge to our rookies; then its a win-win situation for all involved. Certainly better than just cutting him out right and saving a few million. It seems logical to me that if you want classy, high character players; then the GM should treat existing players with class and high character. That's exactly what they've done with TV and I see nothing but positives to the whole situation.
  10. There'll be alot of screaming coming up from Mississippi. (hopefully, of the good kind)
  11. This thread has become one of my favorite reads with my morning cup of coffee. Thanks to all.
  12. I agree. Talk about a low character move, that's just pathetic and completely inexcusable.
  13. Certainly makes sense when you put it like that. Thanks!
  14. I understand all that, but why not just say it all. Why must they speak in tongues? Does the defense hear the play call? I've never played football at any level, so in this regard I'm ignorant.
  15. QUOTE The Vikings' Brad Johnson is in his 13th season as an NFL quarterback. Asked how difficult it is for a rookie, he smiles and lets fly a would-be play: "U Shift Green, Left, West, F, Short, Spy, Two, Banana, Z, Over, Heads, Up, Four, 358, Smoke, Check, H, 2 Miami." Does anyone know why the plays have to be so complicated?? It seems like a bit of over kill to me.
  16. I think the point on Losman that several here are trying to make and that several are trying to denegrate; is that Losman played a safe, conservative game. Now some see that as good, when some see that as the same thing as Holcomb. Therefore, why's Losman's safe play good and Holcomb's safe play bad. Here's how I see it: Last year Losman seemed erratic and uncomfortable which led to poor decisions and turnovers, which cost us games. So far this year (for the purposes of this thread the Miami game), he seems more comfortable and in control which is leading to fewer mistakes and putting us in a position to win games. Now how is that different from Holcomb? Because Losman, being younger and more athletically talented, has much more upside provided he can learn the necessary skills of also being a game manager. For the game in question, Losman's short underneath throws came while we had the lead and didn't need to make mistakes. If he continues to make short throws when we're down by 10 points, then I'd be the first to say he needs to throw more. All we needed was a game manager on Sunday, we didn't need the gun slinger. Last season, Losman seemed incapable of managing the game. Hence, the optimism from his play on Sunday. All in all, we saw progress from JP on Sunday. Did he play the perfect game? No. But, did he progress? Absolutely. The questions or discussion, IMO, should be concerend with whether or not he'll continue to progress. Because I think its irrefutable that he's progressed. Now can he continue it and become the good QB that wins games by throwing 300 yards when needed while also managing the game with short passes when needed.
  17. I don't really know the guy at all. He does seem familiar, but I can't say where I've seen or heard him. I agree he doesn't say much, but boy when he did, I just found it completely off base. Like the comment about the Jags are an unknown team and all. They're a playoff contender year in and year out. I don't know, maybe he'll grow on me too; but after one game I say please stop putting uniformed people in the booth that talk about anything but the game in front of them. Also, I agree the Pink song sucks. And I stopped watching the Fox pregame years ago. The only time I tune in now is when I think they may say something about the Bills.
  18. I couldn't disagree more! Kornhole was so annoying that I may not watch MNF by choice for the first time in my adult life next week. I thought he actually made Theisman sound intelligent. I high;y doubt Kornhole has ever seen an entire NFL game. He seemed to be more interested in his fantasy stats and talkin BS at every opurtunity. The quality of that broadcast has gone down dramatically since last year.
  19. I always thought I should be writing the promo spots for the networks.
  20. Why show all your cards in week 2? We were winning and in control. We didn't need to open the playbook up and tip our hand to what they may see in the next meeting.
  21. That really is the new logo?!? I thought that was all a joke.
  22. Absolutely. They looked great yesterday, as well as last week. I hope that can continue; and I really think it will. This week will be a good game for a number of reasons. Can they keep it up for 3 consecutive weeks? Can that beat a team that most of us thought/think they should be about to beat? Will they have a let down? This could be the week that determines the season as much or more so than the Miami game.
  23. Agreed. I can definitely see us doing well and being the hot commodity in Dec. However, in recent years this team has invented new ways of losing. So, unitl they string some positive games together, I have to remain cautiosly optimistic.
