I feel the pains of this post. It does get old and tiresome (and some people wonder how we could have trouble selling out a game). Here's how I see it: This is a young team. Young in every way. And maybe they're all just learning how to play together. They do seem to be progressing each week. I have hope from what I've seen. JP appears to be turning into a real NFL QB right before our eyes. He's been good 3 weeks in a row in the 4th quarter 2 minute offense. Now, maybe after losing like we did Jauron will see the need to try and put points on the board before the half when we have the ball with 2+ minutes on the clock. We have alot of good players with alot of upside. They're not great now, but many of the younger guys definitely look like they could become great. I must say, though, about McGehee; I'm starting to wonder. He's just not getting it done when the team needs it most. That screen pass on 3rd down that he couldn't convery, just kills. In no way do I suggest we bench him this year, but I'd suggest something like with JP. He's got a few weeks left to show something; to give us some reason why we shouldn't draft a replacment RB. He's good and I think could be great. But, maybe not here, I just don't know. Of our skill players, I'd put the biggest question mark on him. But, I think we can all agree on a few things. The O line is improving. JP looks like a real QB. Evans is a good receiver. Our DE's are pretty good. The 2 rookie safeties have had a serious trial by fire and should only get better. Clements can play, if he wants to and we pay him. The coaches have given stability and a cohesion to the team (now they just need to get their head out of their conservative asses at times). The refs still hate us.

I disagree with number 1. I think it's easier to get a field goal with 20-30 seconds on the clock - see the Jags game for evidence. To get a TD with with a minute left, pretty much means you're gonna have to throw it big distances, i.e. no underneath passes. When you're down by 10, many teams will give you the underneath stuff (like SD did yesterday) and then you can easily get close enough to shoot for the endzone. If all you need is the one score, the defense plays the whole field tight and its harder to so that. To get to field goal range after an onside kick, all you really need is 1 big pass. I agree with number 2. I've often thought, just let them score already. I was saying that yesterday at about the 4 minute mark when it was obvious we couldn't stop an old lady with a walker in the snow. To heck with how the Defense feels. If they could stop someone on 3rd down, you wouldn't have to give up the cheap score. I understand the concept of never giving up points, but at some point you just need to get the ball back. I know you could get a turnover, but its much less likely when they're just running the ball hoping to put the game away.

Thoughts from the game ... uhm

No, you're pretty much dead on. He was about at the 35 when he juked and made it to about the 32. But, there was about 3 seconds on the clock when he was at the 35. So, unless he goes down right there, I'd guess we don't get the timeout. By the time he got to the 32 there was like 1 second - no where near enough time to go down and get the refs to stop the clock, imo. -
The Seahawks are literally trying to lose this game! They're actually following Deluca logic to get to the playoffs.

1 play does not make a game. He's looked pretty bad and the Broncos are lucky as hell to be in this game.

He caught it right about the 40 and ran to the 35 easily. That's where he should have slid down and called an immediate timeout. If so, we may have had 1 second on the clock, although I imagine the refs would have ran the second off before awarding the timeout. Either way, if he goes down immediately, we could easily get the TO and try about a 56-57 yarder. If he would have gotten down at the 35 and we successfully get the TO, its roughly a 51-52 yarder. -
If you were at the game, did it bother you when...

He did it and I thought that too (its out of character for him). What pissed me off even more was that there just wasn't anything we could do about it. He comes into our stadium, taunts our fans, and runs all over us. -

And this is exactly why I love this board so much. Seriously. I love that someone knows this and is witty enough to pick it out. -
I love the way he hands the ball off! Impressive stuff. No way Plummer gets those rushing yards.
-
I'm not sure any of our receivers are doing that. (at least from what I see) It appears they run their routes and wait for JP to hit them. If he rolls out, they may run with him, but I'm not seeing a whole lot of running back to the ball to help him out. Again, this is just my "off the top of my head" obsevation. I haven't specifically watched the games to see what the receivers are doing.
-
He was well covered with 2 guys on the one deep throw. I agree.
-
Perhaps. But, its hard to say watching the game on TV, I can't really see what he's doing on all the plays. I just remember thinking they needed to try something down field, and they didn't. He did get a few decent slants. And he got intereferred with on the next to last drive in the 4th, that of course wasn't called.
-
I would suggest it was our play calling that took him out of the game. We only went deep once. Everything else was short and underneath routes.
-
I agree they do deserve some credit. However, who rotates with Schoebel? And, someone else can comment on the salaries? I don't know how that stacks up. Point still being, you're comparing the production of 2 players against the production of 1 player and saying that he sucks. How can you conclude that he is so bad, when he's doing the equivalent job of 2 people?
-
Ok. I'll try not to. But, they blew several calls and it definitely made it harder for us to win. Granted, the playcalling and coaching prior to the half didn't help us either. I was screaming at the half, that those points would probably cost us the game. And at face value they did.
-
Yes I can.
-
True. It's definitely possible. But, how much credibility does the call have if the guy within 5 yards of the play doesn't call it, but a guy ?? some greater number of yards away, whose primary responsiblity is watching other aspects of the play, makes the call? And then there's no conference to see what the guy right beside the call saw. I'm tellin you, they just blew this call. Plain and simple.
-
The D is young as well.. We're starting 3 rookies. Who's the old guys? Fletcher, Spikes and ??? True we did lose. How do they have zero control? I'm not sure where or how you draw that conclusion.
-
Not that I saw. That was my point. I never saw anyone signal tip, so who thoguht it was tipped? Upon review, there was a sidejudge, almost right beside the play - I'd say about 2-4 yards down field. He was in great position. And all he signaled was no catch.
-
Hey that post was clearly (or so I thought) in jest. Give me some credit.
-
Are they throwbacks or what? They're not their normal home Jersey, so how are they wearing them? And yes, go ugly they are.
-
DirecTV and the NFL blacked out the game, so there'd be fewer people seeingthe rim job the refs gave us. Tha's the connection.
-
But it wasn't tipped. So, that's not an issue. The refs were not signalling that it was tipped, either. ( I just reviewed it on the DVR. Tasker said it was the "official rule" on the field, but the official on the sideline right next to the play did not signal that it was tipped.) So, how can you sit here and say that was a perfectly legitimate call by the refs? They obviously got it wrong and yet I should conclude that its no big deal? Perhaps if that was the only call in the game they got wrong, I could. But that was one of several - all in favor of SD. So how can you say the refs did not influence the outcome of the game in the favor of SD?
-
Don't forget the extra time out for SD and the failure to start the clock before the half.
-
Just to add about the Reed noncall. Why wasn't the flag thrown for PI and then a huddle with one ref saying it was tipped? There was no flag, because the Ref didn't think or didn't want to call PI. The Evans noncall was the first down play. The Price noncatch was 2nd down. And the Reed noncall was third down. The pass to Evns was easily catchable. It may have appeared uncatchable because the defender ran into Evans and completely threw him off his route.
