  1. I would take that for sure. Gabe was good at what he was good at but struggled with everything else. That’s why he was so inconsistent. He was good at getting down the field, especially on broken plays. I’m hoping Coleman will give you some of that while also running a little more of the route tree.
  2. That’s probably true and an interesting thought. The drops were tough last year.
  3. I went a few years ago in Cleveland. It was a really cool experience. We were only there in Day 3. The Bills were on the clock and I got all excited. They picked Tommy Doyle.
  4. Do we know how many WRs were on Allen’s list? All 3 of those guys AND Coleman might have been. I like consulting Allen on this. Just keep in mind, he hasn’t seen tons of any of these guys. I want his opinion because he’s the franchise. At the same time, I don’t want him overriding scouts with more info (I’m not suggesting that happened).
  5. The difference is that all receivers don’t look like this coming out: Obviously, as a Noles fan you’ve seen more of him than most of us. You certainly have a bias towards him (mine is similar for Curtis Samuel as a player). I hope that you’re right and the injuries were a factor. The Bills need Coleman to produce now. They backed themselves into a corner with how they’ve built the WR room.
  6. I don’t think that anyone thinks that they know more than Beane & co. For one, they have access to much more information (specifically medicals). At the same time, there are people here that know substantially more than (insert random non-draft analyst). @GunnerBill has evaluated and charted like 150 players in this draft. He’s forgotten more about this class than Booger McFarland / Dan Orlovsky / Ryan Clark etc… will ever know. Gunner’s analysis is more in line with guys like McShay/Kiper/Brooks/Jeremiah/Miller/Reid. I agree, people watching a couple of highlight tapes or listening to non-experts is annoying.
  7. My brother is convinced that the Bills are sort of evolving the passing game towards the 49ers scheme. Curtis Samuel is basically a poor man’s Deebo Samuel. He will be used to do a variety of things but isn’t a high volume target that Diggs was. Samuel is absolutely filling more of a Harty/McKenzie role than a Diggs role. He’s just a much better player than those 2. The biggest problem at the moment with copying the 49ers is that they have a guy that the Bills don’t. Ayiuk average 18 YPC last year!! For perspective, Tyreek Hill has never averaged more than 17 YPC. Ayiuk is an elite WR that commands attention and gets down the field. It would be like copying the Chiefs offense without having a tight end.
  8. I hope so. At this point, he’s a slot receiver that was quite impactful on low usage. He also wasn’t the focus of anyone’s defense. He won’t fly under the radar anymore. Gabe was quite impactful on low usage over his first couple of years. The Bills then bumped him up the depth chart and he didn’t continue to progress. I’m not saying that will or won’t happen with Shakir. It’s just a cautionary tale that he may not produce at the same level with more volume/attention. I think that “quality role player” is more than fair for where he is right now.
  9. That’s fine for a secondary piece. The Bills were lacking a number 1 & number 2 WR. They have some nice role players in Shakir and Samuel. Coleman feels a lot more like a role player than a guy at the top of the depth chart (where he is now).
  10. Great stuff Gunner. I’m a little higher on Carter than you seem to be. I felt that his senior bowl showing was more indicative of the player that he can be than playing with a bunch of future mechanical engineers at Duke. He is powerful and can get low. To me, he can be a productive rotational guy day 1 and play on important passing downs. Great summary on Bishop too. I like the player and the fit. I think that the Bills will be okay at safety now. I didn’t love the Coleman pick either. He feels like more of a role player than “the guy.” The Bills seem to be replicating the 49ers passing game but without the field stretcher in Ayiuk (at least he isn’t a Bill yet). Franklin and Baker are guys that I like moving forward. Jacob Cowing is another guy that I would like a little later if Franklin and Baker are gone.
  11. My favorite of the 3 picks. I still want more receivers but Carter can play. That was a position of need and the Bills added some pass rush.
  12. I don’t put much stock into PFF. He’s a lot like Poyer when he got here. The Bills have liked him for a while. We will see I guess but the Bills are solid at S now regardless of how it shakes out in terms of playing time.
  13. I like Malik Washington too. Is it crazy that I still want 2 more WRs? It’s a weak spot on the roster and we can add some different skills.
  14. I’m good with Franklin moving forward. I like Baker a lot too. He’s another boom or bust guy but like him. Jacob Cowing is another guy that I have my eye on later. He’s small but quick. I don’t necessarily care that he’s a slot guy. We have a bunch of those. He’s a guy that gets open.
  15. I think Edwards might end up as the best of the 3. He is a playmaker that is a little underappreciated. It’s like when Hyde and Poyer got here.
  16. He’s a good football player. The Bills need more of those. I’m not jumping on the couch but not throwing things at the TV either. Solid

  18. Hope to be wrong. Guys with his level of seperation have almost all failed.
  19. I’d like to see the Bills use some of the later picks on vets, to move up or to move into next year’s draft. I don’t want the Bills drafting more than 6 guys. They just don’t have the roster space.
  20. I’m a Pearsall fan. My thinking was more Shanahan than Lynch. Imagine what that guy could do with Worthy? That’s the same reason I didn’t want him in KC. Worthy is dangerous in the right offense.
  21. I think SF was taking Worthy
  22. Winners: - Bears - Chiefs - Lions - Eagles - Jags - Pats (was really hoping they’d take JJ) Losers: - 1/2 Vikings (JJ sucks) - Broncos - Raiders - Falcons
