Kiper Mock 4.0 - Bills take Okwara at 54
Kirby Jackson replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was kind of coming here to say the same thing. I guess I’ve talked myself into Claypool’s freakish combination of size and speed. I’m not there with Okwara. The next ND guy I’ll probably talk myself into is Troy Pride because of the track background. I just need something to cling to when it comes to a prospect. I am struggling with what to cling to with Okwara. He feels a little “Maybinish” (ducks). -

Beane Draft Day Aggression - Trade up for Delpit

I think McKinney is definitely the first safety off the board. He won’t be around for us. McKinney was unlikely to be available at 22 IMO. I think he ends up in Dallas. The other 3 probably go in the same general area. I really haven’t seen a lot of Chinn or Duggar outside of highlights and the Sr. Bowl. With that being said, I’ll say Delpit for the Bills because I’m assuming he will have the smallest adjustment period. He’s a cerebral player from a National Championship Team in the SEC. That’s the smallest possible jump to the NFL. -
By the 2nd half of 2018 he was playing good football. We just didn’t want to realize it because we were so set on him being a bust. In 2019 he played good football and got paid for it. By the time he was 24 he was a solid to good NFL player. One of the things about Greenard is that he’s an older prospect. He will come to camp as a 23 year old. You’d hope that the learning curve is expedited. You really can work him in this year before you need him to take a step. Will he be in the same place at 24 as Shaq was? If so, it probably allows the Bills to move on from Hughes, Addison and/or Murphy.

Part of the reason that I’m not opposed to RB at 54 is that’s the place that I can see the rookie making the biggest impact. The depth behind Singletary is weak and he missed 5 games last year. You’re probably still looking at a guy that will play 30% of the plays this year if Motor stays healthy. If he goes out that number jumps quite a bit. That’s the one really immediate need IMO. There are a lot of options though, like edge, that aren’t necessarily an immediate need for 2020. Gunner would argue that it is an immediate need as we shouldn’t be counting on the older guys that regressed last year. Whether you agree with that or not we can all agree that a couple of DEs in their mid-30’s and Murphy’s contract aren’t long-term options for the Bills. At some point soon we will need to inject some youth.

Beane Draft Day Aggression - Trade up for Delpit
Kirby Jackson replied to Mark80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Going into last year Delpit was looking like a top 10 pick. He has pretty good size and physicality. He’s big enough to play the big nickel (which McDermott loves). Last year he was nowhere near the player that he was the year before despite him stealing the Thorpe award from Okudah. Delpit played through an injury all year which certainly impacted his play. If you are getting the 2018 version you are getting a potentially great player. If you’re getting the 2019 version, meh. -
I guess that I look at it differently. To me, if we were getting what Shaq gave at 54 or 86 that’s a really good selection. A quality DE, good against the run and 5-10 sacks is a nice pick with our limited needs. Asked a different way, what kind of immediate production are we expecting out of this draft class? We aren’t likely to be drafting an immediate starter in this draft imo. There are a few places where we can get a guy that is going to play the rotation (OLB, CB, RB, edge). I’m viewing this draft as how to we round out the 2 deep across the roster? Greenard would come into a situation where the top 3 players on the depth chart are aging or potentially cap casualties. He could slide in this year and play 40% of the snaps (or whatever) and be in line for a larger role moving forward. If he looks like he can handle a bigger role, the Bills can save money on an aging vet and use that to pay their young stars.

Doesn’t he just feel safe to you? I don’t mean that as an insult in anyway either. He feels like a high floor guy to me. Greenard reminds me of Shaq a little bit honestly. Greenard’s game is a little more refined than most of the other edge prospects. He may never be a 15 sack guy but he will get some rush and is solid at the point of attack.

Backup running back - how about going back to 2018?
Kirby Jackson replied to Coach55's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That feels pretty unfair when everything he’s said is to the contrary (including his interview with Tre). By all accounts, including his, he loved his time in Buffalo. Additionally, he’s fighting FOR a NFL roster spot this year. He will go anywhere that is interested. With that being said, he’s done. There are a lot better options out there. -

What’s this based on? Shady was a great player. He is no longer a good player. -
Too early for that Paul

This is a good topic @elijah. I’m trying not to overthink it. Milano is a better player, imo, than Dawkins but it is a lot harder to find a quality LT. For that reason it is Dawkins.

Interesting Player Starting to Slide
Kirby Jackson replied to Madd Charlie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My question is why is it a “waste?” What player picked in round 2 is going to have a greater impact on this team, this year? Even if Singletary is healthy another RB is going to touch the ball 8-10 times a game. If Singletary is out that number moves closer to 20. There’s a clear path to playing time for a RB (which there isn’t pretty much anywhere else on the roster). Additionally, there are likely 5 RBs to come off the board between picks 20 and 60. That’s a situation where need and BPA could come together. It’s entirely possible that the Bills take one of those 5 guys at 54. To be clear, I’m not saying, “the Bills will definitely take a RB at 54.” I’m saying, “it is entirely POSSIBLE to foresee a situation where the Bills go RB at 54.” If I had to put odds on the position picked in round 2 would probably look like this: RB +100 S +125 Edge +150 OT +150 CB +250 WR +250 LB +300 IOL +350 DT +350 TE +450 QB +1200 Both -

Why not 2nd? The Bills are going to draft BPA (as they should). It’s entirely possible that BPA in round 2 is one of those 4 or 5 RBs (Swift, Dobbins, Taylor, Edwards-Helaire, Akers). It doesn’t have to be a RB there but it could be a situation of “BPA meets last remaining need.” The other thing is that RB is the one position that they didn’t address in FA. That tells me that they want another young guy. Everywhere else they tried to add bodies to insulate against having to pick a guy. RB is the only position on the entire roster that they have to pick a guy at. This could obviously change between now and the draft if they add someone like Hyde, Miller or Freeman. As of today though, that’s not the case. -

Personally, I think that RB is the last immediate need on this team. The Bills can sustain an injury to any other position on the roster (except QB and most can’t sustain that). If Singletary goes down the running game goes too and he did miss five games as a rookie. Even if Motor is healthy another RB is going to play 30% of the offensive snaps. The Bills have to add another high end option. -
There are a couple of things that we disagree on. I’m fairly confident at this point that Justin Jefferson will be the 4th WR off the board. I think that the QBs are a little low. You have them more in line with their value but it feels like people always panic and overdraft them. It would be a surprise if only 2 went in the top 10. I just think Miami takes one with their first pick. Really like where you have Baun, Fulton and Gallimore. Those are all guys that aren’t consistently mocked in round 1 that I think will go there. They all are guys that I could see scouts really liking. @GunnerBill nice job as always!!

Is Josh Allen really a franchise QB?

This pretty much sums it up fairly and accurately.
