I know people never want to hear or believe this but Russ Brandon didn’t make football decisions at any point. Modrak, Guy, Nix and Whaley made the football decisions throughout his tenure. He was acting as the de facto owner. He was absolutely aware of what was going on and in some cases probably had to sign off but more from a budgetary situation. He wasn’t saying “don’t sign this guy sign that guy.” The football people made all of the football decisions and he authorized the spend. He played the role of owner. The point being if people had an issue with the way that the organization was, that’s where he takes the blame. It’s similar to the mass-dysfunction going on with the Sabres right now. When there is a lot wrong the owner takes the blame. However, if you did not like the player’s on the team, it is the fault of whoever was responsible for them. Russ held a title, as did Marv Levy, and NEITHER of them made football decisions. It was a leadership title. The 4 men mentioned above built the rosters between Donahoe and the current regime. With all of that being said there were a lot of talkers in that era. That falls to the man in charge - RB.

NFL player sues United Airlines
Kirby Jackson replied to stuvian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It isn’t right. You can’t just take advantage of someone because you want to and they appear capable of defending themselves. If this was the NFL player doing it to the woman on the plane it would be the lead on the news. This, along with teachers having relations with little boys, are the rare double-standard that men face. We usually get the benefit of these double standard but in these cases we end up as the victims. -
Saw this on Instagram and it got me thinking about the ideal group. I actually think Simms did a pretty good job but it’s no fun to just agree so I’ll go different. Thought we should throw it out to the group to get your thoughts. I’ll say: - QBs - Chiefs - WRs - Bucs - RBs - Browns - TEs - 49ers - OL - Saints - DL - Chargers - LBs - Steelers - DBs - Ravens

That’s fair. At the end of the day no one knows what’s next. Dallas Is basically doing the same thing that the Saints have done for a decade plus. They kept everyone that they felt that they had to. Their top players stay for years. Now, I feel like Dallas has more elite players than the Saints but the Saints top end guys (and coaching) are better. The Saints have always been a contender but have only played in 1 Super Bowl ever. I suppose the Cowboys could be better or worse over the next decade but think that they will largely continue to follow that model. You can add Lawrence to that as well. He has a $14M savings after 2021 I think. They have done a really nice job managing it (Cooper deal aside).

That’s a pretty cool story!! Teams certainly use the media to spread their narratives. I think that it’s almost happened so much at this point that it works the other way. If I see someone on NFL Network talking about a team’s interest in something in particular that’s because the team or agent wanted it out there. The stuff that you hear less is often closer to the truth at this point (is the Bills were taking Dugger if he was available). So much of it is just about how easy it is to communicate now. Someone says something to one of their buddies and he tells his 5 closest friends, who tell their 5 closest friends and so on. The key and most important thing in the chain is how close to the original source your information is. There are certain things that I can say that I've heard with a great deal of certainty. As an example, it is 100% fact that the Bills were trying to trade up for Mark Barron and got “stuck” with Stephon Gilmore.
-
The thing is that Dallas has already retained their young guys (depending on where Dak’s hit ends up). Only Vander Esch is up in the next few years of their “core” guys I think. Candidly I just glanced at their future situation but they are past the “Falcons point” where they have to cut guys. Dallas’ pivotal guys are there for multiple years and have been complemented by great drafting.
-
There were multiple. It appeared that most of the leaks had closed but this draft there were as many leaks as back then. Don’t really know if it was the virtual setting that had people more open or just a comfort level. At any rate, every team has leaks and it’s different people at different times. One of the things that people don’t necessarily grasp is that it isn’t JUST Beane that knows the plan. There are a lot of people involved in building the board and the decision making process. Buffalo is a small town and things spread but the truth is New Orleans is no different.

They wouldn’t have to invest a bigger cap hold than Dak currently has. With Zeke and Cooper under contract and Lamb on a rookie deal their skill players are here for a while. Maybe the defense pays the price but the key players on this team are under contract for years. If they keep drafting like they did this year they will remain talented. Who specifically are you concerned about them losing? When I look at Sportrac I see a team in pretty good cap shape still. Maybe I’m wrong but it doesn’t look bad. They will need to sign Vander Esch but that shouldn’t be a problem.
-
Sure that he’s better than Garrett? Yes Again, they play in a trash division, improved coaching, in a conference where the top teams are at the end and had a great draft. I’m not saying that I expect them to become a dynasty (at all). Im saying that the reason they are as high is they are makes sense. Why isn’t anyone taking issue with the Eagles being only one spot lower? They have holes and questions everywhere. Dallas has a lot less questions than Philly.

Um, this isn’t a real site? They have 50 followers and respond to legitimate questions like this. Feel like we should shut this down and not give this child any more attention. This isn’t real.

I think Tampa can win it even though Brady is declining. I’m not sure that they will be good for long though. They have a run or 2 in them. The Saints just can’t seem to get it done in the playoffs at this point. Obviously they’ve been unlucky over the last 3 years but their window is closing. This is their last chance IMO. Their roster is loaded and they improved in a few places (specifically pass catchers). If they stay healthy they will have a chance but they better have home field to do that. Agree, knew that I was forgetting someone. Arizona is the team on the rise.
-
I don’t necessarily either but in the spirit of the exercise they can. They should host a playoff game (at least 1). They have a ton of young(ish) talent. The NFC is pretty wide open IMO. The Saints and 49ers appear to be the best teams on paper. The Packers (who I think are overrated), the Seahawks, Eagles and Cowboys are the next tier. All of those teams are trending down, long-term, except the Cowboys and 49ers (maybe). The path is there.
-
People just hate the Cowboys but it’s plausible to see how they COULD be great for a while. That doesn’t mean that they will be but if you objectively look at that roster it is great. McCarthy isn’t elite IMO but is a big step up from Garrett. They have that scrub division too. This exercise isn’t declaring someone the next dynasty. It is just showing teams that have a case and why. Dallas has a case.

The Athletic: Vic's Over/Under (Bills over 8.5)
Kirby Jackson replied to inthebuff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, he’s wrong. The Bills have the 5th hardest schedule in the NFL. I guess that the flip side of it is that the other 3 division teams are 1,2 & 3. So while the Bills have a very difficult schedule, it doesn’t in any way hinder their ability to win the division and host a playoff game. It can cause problems if we end up in a wild card battle. https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/nfl-strength-of-schedule-2020-hardest-easiest/k6tyxtfog6uh14hb6vh59icqe -
I’m amazed that people are so down on Dallas. They have a ton of talent, a great draft, WAY better coaching and play in the worst division in the league. It’s very possible that they take a step. I would feel way worse about the Eagles who have questions everywhere (including QB). If that group were the ones wearing Cowboys jerseys we’d think way less of them.

I’d rather move the Bills to 9 and get that same -120 or better. I just don’t like betting anything beyond about -135. It just isn’t great value. By the same token I’ll be in on a coin flip situation if it hits +125. Anything less than that and I’ll sit it out. -

They’ll win 3 games in the division (at minimum), 5 games vs. the NFC East and AFC South (minimum), and sweep the Jets and Raiders. That’s 10. Their schedule is like ours last year. They are just going to play a lot of teams that they are better than. -

I like them to win 9 games this year. They loaded up on the OL and got rid of Freddie Kitchens. He was Rich Kotite bad. In addition, they get the NFC East and the AFC South. The Browns are a good bet this year to go over. They went from overrated to underrated.
