Seat relocation: Anyone notice the slim pickings?
Kirby Jackson replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wouldn’t read too much into it but I would expect this to have been a very high renewal rate. There is probably some additional flexibility going on too with COVID. As a side note my brother filed for a relocation and there are 2 sets of 3 in the entire stadium that will satisfy his request. ?? He wants one of the 2 sets of 3 next to the old press box, in the last row of the clubs in the field house side of the stadium. I was like “good luck with that.” -
@Gugny this is a GREAT idea for a thread!! I have to say, I’ve met a lot of people from this board at this point. The dogs are WAY better looking than we are.

Buffalo Bills worst draft choices.
Kirby Jackson replied to BuffaloBills1998's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Some irony on that pick too. The Bills tried DESPERATELY to move up to take Mark Barron. They thought that they had a deal and couldn’t get it done. They ended up staying put and following plan B, drafting Gilmore. -
Looking like a long shot that we get to the Bills pick today...

That’s Marv!! I’ve told the story on here that when he was the “GM” he was sound asleep during the big pre-draft meeting. He woke up in the middle and had to turn like 65 pages in his binder because he slept through the discussion of those 65 players (literally). He then got up and started doing toe touches and jumping jacks while everyone else was discussing the next prospect on the board. I always laugh when I hear people questioning his picks as the GM. He had about as much to do with drafting a guy as we do. He was a feel good figurehead inserted to make us feel better about the train wreck that we were in the midst of. He was not making ANY football decisions though. The draft was Modrak’s and the pro side John Guy. Tell me a little more about Dalton Keene. He’s clearly on the Bills radar.

Buffalo Bills worst draft choices.

I think there are some important differences that we should discuss. I haven’t read the thread so they may have already been mentioned. There’s a big difference between a guy that they shouldn’t have picked and a guy that couldn’t play. The Bills shouldn’t have picked Spiller or Whitner. Maybin and McCargo couldn’t play. For me, it’s much worse to take a guy that couldn’t play over a guy that you shouldn’t have taken. If I’m to declare a “worst pick of the last 20 years” it has to be Maybin. He checked both boxes. He shouldn’t have been picked (Orakpo was the top available option at the position) and he couldn’t play. He was drafted to rush the passer and had as many sacks in a Bills uniform as I did. Glad to see him making a difference in his post-football life but he’s the worst pick that we’ve had. -
If you think that the Bills will trade (at minimum) their 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th I have a bridge for sale. They wouldn’t trade that for any player that will still be around at 32. They may not do it for Chase Young. If they had another 2nd then maybe I could see it. This year the Bills will be trying to load up between 50 and like 110. That’s the strength of this draft anyways. They’ll try to pick 3 times in there and then probably twice more. they aren’t going to use all of their picks but they don’t have the ammo to get into the 1st. Maybe they can go to like 40 if there’s someone that they LOVE but that would still cost them 54 and 86.
-
The price to go to 32 (590 points) is our 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th (587.4 points). It’s not happening. The only chance is if there is a player involved that they think they don’t need (maybe Ford or Wallace). Those are a couple of younger guys that may have some value. As a straight trade of picks it’s just not doable.
-
I don’t see it. It’s too expensive especially for a team with minimal needs. I think that it’s more likely that they try to get up to have 3 top 3 round picks. Maybe something like 86, 128 & 167 for 89 & 105. The Bills would then pick 54, 89 and 105. They’d still have 2 6ths and a 7th. They may even use those to come back up again. As an example the 2 6ths can get you back into mid 5. If there’s a guy that you love still there (like Shaq Quarterman) you can come back up again.

2020 Draft, biggest bust potential

What’s wrong with selling insurance?!? ?? -
@Virgil thanks again for doing this!! These mock drafts have become the best threads on the board each year. Everyone takes it seriously and is thorough. It’s the one time that everyone respects each other and the participants do a great job. Your organization and time really drive it though because it isn’t easy to manage. Thank you again for making these happen!!

2020 Draft, biggest bust potential
Kirby Jackson replied to Cripple Creek's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not speaking for Gunner but I think that you grade each player individually. You don’t say “i have to have 32 1st round grades, 32 2nd round grades, etc...” You ask yourself, “is this guy a 1st round talent compared to other 1st round talents?”’ I may be off here but part of the reason is that you are trying to manage your own draft. Say you have pick 24 and have 20 first round grades and 40 2nd round grades. By the time your pick comes all 20 of your 1st round grades are off the board. You get offered pick 46 and pick 60 for pick 24. You already have pick 56. You may decide, based on the actual players left, not just the draft value chart, that 46, 56, & 60 is better for you than 24 & 56. The same can be done in reverse for moving up. This is something that the Bills have done a lot of (Knox, Ford, Edmunds, Dawkins). They try to get a guy before a perceived gap starts to the next tier. -
2020 Draft, biggest bust potential
Kirby Jackson replied to Cripple Creek's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I guess the point I’m trying to make is they are all different. That’s why I used the Miami of Ohio example. Over the last 40 years they produced a HOF QB and a bunch of guys. It’s not the school that determines your future success. It’s your physical and mental skills. Tua has pinpoint accuracy, mobility, a big enough arm, is the son of a coach, and is elite with his play fakes. He has all of the traits of a successful modern QB (with the exception of his injury history). I’m not saying that Tua will be great or terrible (or anywhere in between). All that I’m saying is that playing at Alabama isn’t a factor in determining his success. -
The Carolina Panthers have been agonizing over this decision. The 69th pick is something to take seriously. We’ve been debating between OL and DL. We even thought briefly about a QB. Our need in the trenches is too great on both sides of the ball though. At the end of the day we feel like the depth of the DL class at this point is better than the depth at IOL. That helped break the tie. With the 69th pick in the 2020 draft the Carolina Panthers select Robert Hunt, OG, Louisiana-Lafayette . Hunt is a big guy that can start at LG day one. He’s a big guy and a good athlete. He may project long-term as a RT. While Hunt is a bit raw, he makes a lot of sense for a team in our position. He can grow with the young core. We need help on the OL and this versatile, high-ceiling prospect fits nicely into our plans. @NewEra and the Miami Dolphins are now on the clock

Can someone explain what I’m missing with Hodgins? I see a lot of people listing him here. It’s going to be difficult for him to separate at the next level. I just don’t see it but there are people a lot smarter than me that seem to like him. He feels like Duke Williams to me and we already have him.
-
I think Claypool is a bit of a hybrid. Teams asked him to do TE drills at the combine. He’s more of a “weapon” type that will primarily play in the red zone early in his career. He’s really gifted physically. I’m not opposed to the pick if they have him as BPA. The Bills said that they wanted more “TD makers” and so far have just added Diggs (which is HUGE). They really are in position to go a variety of ways.

Revisiting the pretty bad 2015 draft class
Kirby Jackson replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Next year’s draft has some high end playmakers as well!! Waddle, Chase, Olave, Ross, DeVonta Smith and Rondale Moore (amongst others) should all be in there. They are saying that 2020 may be the most talented WR group ever and that may last all of a year. Those guys next year, in a lot of cases, were ahead of this group. Add in the 2 QBs at the top of the draft and 2021 is looking exciting. There will be lots and lots of “TD makers.” -
I was thinking about how crazy that is. My brother’s house is like 4,000 sq. ft and it’s a giant old house in the Elmwood Village. 8,000 square feet is absurd!! I came across the Brady house article earlier this week and the house he’s renting from Jeter is 30,000 square feet!! That’s just ridiculous. Jeter’s House

I voted Edwards-Helaire because I think RB is the last glaring need. I know that the Bills won’t draft for need but you could make a case that RB is the BPA. I debated on Akers and Lewis. At the end of the day, CEH has a high floor and is good insurance for Singletary. I think that’s what’s best for the Bills. In all actuality, I think Duggar or Chinn (who is gone in our mock) will be the pick. The Bills scouted them extensively and love the versatility of the big nickel. I think Greenard is another possibility for the same reasons but may be a little earlier than most are projecting.

Why do we need a WR in the draft?
Kirby Jackson replied to MrSarcasm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks!! That’s all pretty interesting. Good stuff and the perfect time of year for it. Appreciate you digging it up.
