  1. Well, they have been playing very well since January, and, I would argue, Miller has not really carried them by any means, this season. They have been getting scoring, in the second half of the season, from all over the line-up, Thomas Vanek has become a very great, if not elite, player, night in night out. Tyler Meyer has rebounded from an awful start, and now, in only his second season, has become oue most solid defensemen, the fact that he can move with the puck, and can shoot doesn't hurt one bit. Andrej Sekera has been an all-hustle guy, and Nathan Gerbe and Tyler Ennis are showing to be very promising young guys, who have been delivering in the crunch. Drew Stafford has been scoring timely goals, and isn't afraid to mix it up. The Sabres aren't letting themselves get pushed around like they might have in the past. I want Miller to come back, but I don't think having Jonas Enroth between the pipes is a huge drop-off...we may have the next Edwards/Sauve tandem available for a nice playoff run. I don't know how you couldn't like the way they have been playing for the last 3 months. Did you watch last nights' game? That was as fine a defensive effort as you are likely to see, against a good, vetran team in the Rangers. Now, I am not saying they are going to win the cup, but I fully expect them to give whoever they face in the first round of the playoffs, a very good fight, and I won't be shocked to see them knock off one of the to 4 seeds. They are playing smart, disciplined hockey, avoiding stupid penalties for the most part, and, to me, appear to be a team that is finally starting to grow up. It's a long season, no team dominates from start to finish
  2. Highlights from last nights game...great shot by Connolly...the dude is such a tease...just when you write him off, he starts producing... http://www.nhl.com/
  3. There was a story about this on MSNBC last week. I am not sure that losing Farrakhan's endorsement is going to hurt Obama too much...
  4. So sorry about that...I could have sworn NHL.COM said 7:30 start.... Man, the Sabres played a hell of a game tonight, amazing defensive game...Enroth was stellar!
  5. Supposedly (and I have no real reason to doubt it) Miller is hurt, with the dreaded "upper body injury"...he did get dinged in the head pretty good, last night. If it is an injury, we may be seeing more of Enroth than we thought...6 games in 11 days. If Miller is really hurt, it won't make any sense to rush him back...unless Enroth craps the bed...I have a hunch he will not.
  6. Well, it could be, you choose the spot that looks most appealing to you. The next person comes along, and chooses the next most appealing spot, which happens to be next to the most appealing spot...I dunno...I go through this from time to time to. It used to happen when I rode the city bus...or the subway.
  7. This has been going on for years, both parties...
  8. A mad man! Yeah, I completely agree. My favorite show of all time was "The Sopranos", and Matthew Weiner was heavily involved with the development of that show. It is the style of storytelling that makes me like the show, not necessarily the subject matter...those "minor" characters are a big part of the appeal...also agree about Cooper. Great observation. I have to say, when they wrote the pretentious hipster guy (can't remember his name, Paul something...the guy with the beard and moustache) off this past season, I really missed that character, even though he wasn't a major cog in the story.
  9. Yeah, I know, didn't mean it..I was just mad!
  10. No kidding. Including tonight, three of their final 7 games of the season come off "back to back" games...I wonder if we see Enroth in a couple of them. For a team that lacks intensity from time to time, this is good practice. Of course, if they aren't careful, it may be a moot point!
  11. Damn it! http://www.popeater.com/2011/03/29/mad-men-season-5-2012/?icid=maing-grid7%7Cmain5%7Cdl2%7Csec3_lnk2%7C52921 Maybe no football this August...and now this...might have to read a book!
  12. Yeah, that was a pretty distressing begining of the game...the Leafs really looked like the desperate team last night, and the Sabres, as they are ones to do, kind of came out lackluster...coughing up pucks in the neutural zone, playing sloppy in their own end. Miller made some great saves, it could have been worse. But, the Leafs seem to have figured out a way, the last three games or so, to make Miller, and the Sabres defense, play out of their comfort zone a bit. The Leafs were flying everywhere...the Sabres were able to take advantage of some of the Leafs agressiveness, and tie it up, before the back-breaker... Anyways, like I said, the Sabres have been playing very solid hockey for the last month, and scoring goals...so I am expecting that last night was an abberation...tonights' game is huge!
  13. My heart would most be warmed by the Celtics winning...best out of 3 for current Lakers/Celtics rivalry? Plus, Celtics GM has a heroin addicted nephew who he gives rubber bands to. (see op in this thread) My heart is swelling...the Perkins trade... I don't know if my heart can take any more warming...if the Cavs can't win it, its' gotta be the Celtics!
  14. Just a reminder for all of you who don't get to see the Sabres very often...tonights game is on Versus! 7:30pm eastern. Should be a great game...last nights game aside, the Sabres have been playing some very good hockey lately. If they win tonight, they are ties with the Rangers at 87 points...both teams are jockeying for the 7th or 8th playoff seed, and to possibly move up to 6th, as Montreal has been in a bit of a tailspin lately. To add to the drama, the pesly Carolina Hurricanes are only 3 points back of the Sabres...this is going to be a wild final two weeks of the NHL season.
  15. So, who is going to win the NBA championship this year? Woudln't seeing Shaq win one mor be a "heartwarming" story?
  16. Well, its' because you keep hammering away the same pointless point, and it doesn't mean anything. Accuse me of being too stupid to understand what you are saying, but you aren't really saying anything. You are in a great position I guess. The only way you can define your beliefs (or the Tea Party beliefs) is to say that they can't be described, pinned down, or defined. Everyone can define what the Tea Party "is not". Isn't that convenient? That wears thin after a while. It didn't work for Republicans in 2008...the party of "just say no" became the party "no-way" to voters. You say that Democrats will regret not taking the Tea Party seriously. How can you, when you yourself are saying that there is nothing tangible to define the movement. It is logical, I would say, to assume then, the dissention coming from the Tea Party, indicates that those identifying with the movement are just pissed off, and unhappy with the current government. Fine, I think you will find many who feel that way on both sides of the political spectrum. But if you are going to rail against what is going on, shouldn't you offer a solution? It seems every time a self identified Tea Party candidate opens their mouth, they make their movement look sillier. It is easy, as we have seen for years, to criticize what is going on, but not as easy to come up with solutions. Everybody wants to cut spending...Republicans will cut spending on education before they will interfere with big business. See Pennsylvania right now. Yet, in nearly every poll,in every state, education is the one area that voters do not want to see cuts made. Here, in Texas, the tea party candidates crowed about their victories, but have have already been suffering the backlash for coming to the realization that, maybe, just cutting spending on everything isn't the answer.
  17. So, essentially, the tea party movement, according to you, is the equivialant of the "anyone but Bush" movement that you are so fond of...great! It worked in 2008, but is that what you really want?
  18. I am sure that somebody would have a problem with this...being that, now, over half the Republican party believes that the president, himself, is not a legal US citizen.
  19. Oh brother...this from the guy whose near every post is about some hypocrisy in how Obama and Bush are treated by liberals, and the media... The problem as I see it (and both sides are guilty of this) everybody wants change, unless it affects them. So, this is what we have...it isn't productive at all. I suspect DC Tom will come in and give enough nuance to your argument (if that is what it is), and then you will feel empowered...but right now, you are just flailing away, and not making any point...other than, you don't like Obama...point taken...back to your porn!
  20. No, it's not perplexing LA...it is as vauge as it could possibly be, which is what I expected. You are not saying anything, only criticizing what has been done...and for every "RomneyCare" that hurts your ears from the left, ever hear anyone use the term "ObamaCare" ad nausium? Ever hear the argument "he's in Rio"? For someone who has no stance, I am not sure what Obama has done to offend your sensibilities so much...seems to me he is constantly being criticized for his positions, by people who have no signle position (as you assert), so, as politicians do, he compromises and lets the idiots have what they want...only to be criticized for that...just two weeks ago, the right was coming out of the woodworks criticizing Obama for not making a move on Libya, when he does (a very good one IMO), they start tripping over themselves to criticize him for that...it would be comical, if it wasn't so pathetic. You can criticize liberals and the left for all of their partisan ways, but you are really mistaken if you think it is any different on the right...
  21. Yeah, you were so serious, and non-partisan, until Barry became prez. I miss the old days when you were just a boob obsessed yob. You will only be happy with someone in the White House as simple as you. We have an adult in the White House...what difference does it make if the president is in Rio, or Crawford, TX? There seems to be a trend of tea partiers getting the job, and realizing it isn't as simple to just cut everything as they thought it would be. It seems there is a trend of those who were so gung-ho for the tea party in 2010 elections are starting to have buyers remorse. Seriously, LA, as you are the person proudest to identify themselves as a tea partier, what candidate, or potential candidate best exemplifies your beliefs? I don't see how any currently identified tea party candidate could be taken seriously.
