  1. I know what you mean...the negativity is kid of a drag....and as time passes, seeing people bashing the Super Bowl era teams is pretty infuriating...but I also understand where it comes from. We are coming off two decades of really bad to mediocre football. After a while, the only thing to talk about is the degree of bad, what mistakes the team is making, and theories (some solid, some half-baked) on how to make things better. There isn't a lot to celebrate...so the fans turn sour. But, I think the fact that there are still so many, despite it all, just goes to show how great the fans really are. For a long time, the fan-base (even the !@#$-tards among us) have been the best thing about the franchise. They have deserved more than they have been getting... I like McDermott, and I will always defend his decision to start Peterman last year, and this year. Last year, people seem to forget, that the offense under Tyrod was absolutely anemic...perhaps McDermott mis-read how ready Peterman was, but he was absolutely justified in trying to give his team some sort of spark. This year, by all measures, Peterman "won" whatever QB competition there was during the pre-season. I gurantee, 2/3 of NFL coaches, in the same position, would have done the same thing. My biggest complaints revolve around some (not all) of Beanes' personnel decisions. I think trading McCarron was a really cocky, and kinda dumb move. It's fantastic that we may have found (fingers crossed) our QB of the future, but if something happens to him, they just can't go back to Peterman...and as far as I know, they still haven't done anything to address this issue. But I think they are getting a little too cute with some of the trades and creating holes they didn't necessarily have to create. McDermott is on solid ground as far as I am concerned. After all the BS of the first two weeks, I give him as much credit as anyone for keeping this team focused enough to pull off that win yesterday.
  2. I like your line-up. I know Roethlisberger is known to be better at home than on the road, but the Bucs defense, pretty mediocre to begin with, is really banged up...this could really be a make or break game for the Steelers, as far as them unraveling goes. I can't wait for that game. Ben, Connor and OJ should all put up numbers.
  3. I ended up with Flacco...lost out on Fitz and Keenum on the waiver wire.
  4. Have the practice squad qualifications changed? I would have thought O'Leary had too much playing time to qualify for practice squad.
  5. With a record like his, how come he wasn't in prison? Hmmm....wonder....
  6. Two of my all-time favorite Buffalo Bills wore #22: Freddie and Steve Freeman. Davis tarnishes the number.
  7. In fairness, to PatsFanNH, Tom Brady has been dropping 4-5 tds a game and 300+ yards pretty regularly on us for going on 17 years..we still talk plenty of trash about him around here.
  8. You know, I started "envy" watching the Bucs last season, because I think they are building a really fantastic team...didn't work out so well last year, though there were glimmers...I will be watching them again this year. Even if Fitz fizzles out (which everyone seems to be assuming), I think Winston (who is a major a-hole, I know) is extremely talented...their passing game is loaded at every position on the roster.
  9. What pisses me off, any "bad takes" on this situation should be directed at Vontae Davis, not the Buffalo Bills. Unless there is something we don't know about, Davis handled this about as poorly as he could have. I get, and respect, that he just came to terms with the fact that he just can't physically play football anymore...I am sure that is hard to deal with. But why not tell your coaches at the beginning of the week, or today...or, eve if he told them at half-time, just stay with his teammates until the end of the game, even if he couldn't play. To me, this is just a very unjustified black-eye on the franchise. The national take seems to be that this is all a reflection on how bad of a franchise the Bills are, or how bad the fans are, is just galling. But, you are right...we have been here before.
  10. I hope it works, and I will support them all the way...but this is basically the line we were sold with the Sabres a few years ago, but the GM proved much more adept at taring down what was there and acquiring future assetts, than he was at re-building...so we were treated to an extended period of some of the most miserable seasons in Sabres franchise history...lets just hope McDermot and Beane know how to re-build an NFL team, better than Tim Murray did and NHL team.
  11. ALexander had a really strong second half today. Good riddance to Davis...
  12. Well, I know what you are saying, but they (McDermot/Beane) kind of brought that on themselves to a degree. They got rid of some very talented players, and created a lot of "dead money" issues for the cap. I understand why they did it, but they could have kept a lot of those players, and dedicated themselves to caoching them up, rather than just getting rid of them. Guys like Dareus and Sammy might have not been their type of guys, but they weren't without talent. So, they get rid of them prematurely, creating dead money that they can't use to replace them with, and the performance of the team suffers, in the short term. Hopefully, they know what they are doing...next year they should have money to be able to build a much better roster...though, some of the free agent signings they made this year, so far, don't look like money well spent...trust the process. I still do, but excuses run out next year, for me.
  13. Why such a rush to cram a guy through the process, when he has serious eithical issues? What are conservatives afraid of, that they won't be able to find another scumbag who can get 65 women they know to claim he didn't attempt to rape them 35 years ago?
  14. From that list, I think Moore or Anderson would be most likely...maybe Lynch. I think Webb signed with the Jets.
  15. I am not a Beane/McDermot hater, but I think the roster they inherited was much better than what we have now. I realize, this is a work in progress, and I am hopeful they build something better than what they are trying to replace...but they aren't there yet. In my opinion, Rex Ryan and his coaching staff were the biggest obstacle to the Bills success.
  16. I was thinking more long term, just in case Stafford is at the end...he looked really confused last night. Maybe concussion? Maybe just hitting the wall? I was leaning toward Keenum, Manning or Tannehill, because, as you point out, I feel they are the most secure in their jobs...though I don't particularly like any of them.
  17. So, I have Matt Stafford as my #1 QB. My #2 QB is Jamies Winston, who is suspended through week 3...he may not even getting his starting job back, if Fitzmagic continues! Stafford looked awful last night...is it an aberration, or should I be worried? One more interception, and I would have lost my week 1 fantasy game... Which of these QB's would you pick up, if you had to: Sam Darnold Ryan Fitzpatrick Joe Flacco Case Keenum Eli Manning Ryan Tannehill Tyrod Taylor
  18. Not really...I just have an insane collection of old games...including some "nuggets" from 1984 and 1985!
  19. C'mon man...not even close! Every guy on that list, except Peterman, had some degree of success. Peterman has stunk in every apperence...as one old enough to remember them all, I have to say Peterman, by a long shot. Two starts, two losses that were so bad, he had to be yanked before the game was even over. Even Jeff Tuel (who I have heard him compared to a few times in the last 24 hours) and Thad Lewis played well enough to keep their teams in games, until making one fatal blunder...he has QB'd two of historically awful Bills offensive performances. If I recall thouhg, both Dufek and Mathison, had a few games that they kept the team in the game, before making mistakes to lose the game...I think Mathison even had a 300 yard game,. somewhere along the way.
  20. Unless they bring in another QB, they have to go with Allen. If they put Peterman back in, it sends the absolute wrong message...to everybody. Allen has a lot to learn, but not as much as Peterman. Allen doesn't look scared. Peterman (to borrow a phrase from the JP Losman era) plays like he has a "bee in his helmet". I have no doubt that he is a good guy, and a great teammate, but he may be the worst QB we have seen play in a Bills uniform, this century. I was willing to give him the benefit of a doubt after the Chargers game last year, but sitting and learning from Tyrod didn't do anything for his game...what good is sitting and learning from Peterman going to do for Allen? McDermot/Bean really blundered this, in my opinion...they have left themselves with little other choice than to start Allen. Personally, I think he can handle it...if he can't so be it...playing in Buffalo he's going to have to learn fast.
  21. I liked Tyrod, and would not have been upset had they kept him. Though, I certainly understand why they did. I think they had a solid enough plan to replace him, until they traded McCarron. Then it kind of went out the window. McDermott and Beane have to take some blame for this. McCarron may have very well sucked too, but this marks the second time in a year that they badly mis-read Petermans' ability to play at the NFL level. I don't believe they are intentionally setting out to tank the season, but that was some leap of faith, trading away McCarron, your "vetran" backup, for a guy who had one (very bad) start under his belt.
