Big time...I get the feeling Kiper hates all of them...the NFL Draft was "his thing", as a pop culture phenomenon. As much as people knock him, Kiper almost signle-handedly made the draft what it is now...now, douche-bags like Tod McShay, and the rest have taken it away from him...remember a few years ago, before the NFL Network was on the scene, Kiper only did the draft for ESPN, and likely made a good bit of money for it. Now, he is doing ESPN Radio, count-counterpoint segments, etc...I am sure he is bitter. I like Kiper. He is kind of smarmy, and uncomfortable to watch at times...but he is the true draft-nik...the rest are just pretenders. I liked Gruden's QB Camp things, conceptually, but he is such a phoney... When they were talking about Jake Locker, Kiper was pointing out the negatives, low completion %, etc etc... then Gruden cut him off, saying "aw...you guys with your stats...the kid is a winner, and I would love to have him QB my team..."
-
I don't know, I was kind of surprised that he "dogged" Julio Jones...talking about how great he is, physically, but he "drops way too many passes"...they then proceeded to show a "highlight" reel of Jones drops. Gruden said "he shows he can drop the intermediate passes as well as the long routs". I thought it was fairly brutal. Not as brutal as the outfit that Jones was wearing, but pretty brutal. All in all, I think their coverage was fine. How much can anyone really say about all this stuff?

Yeah, I agree with all that. I wish they were better too. GR55 has not had a good relationship with the Bills since the Tom Donohoe era. And, they are the Sabres flagship station. Howard Simom is okay, but I used to like him more. I really can't stand Jeremy. He is incessantly arguing about everything, even when there is nothing to argue about. He is tiresome to listen to, like Schoop. What I do, mostly, is just listen to the audio vault stuff on GR55. I like to hear what Paul Hamilton has to say (though he is much better at covering hockey than he is football), and some of the other people. I am in the minority, I realize, but I used to actually like Chuck Dickersons' show on Mondays. He was real negative, but the guy knew football better than anyone on WNY radio. GR55 is just lacking in that area. As I said before, Joe Buscalia (sp?) does a decent job, and is obviously a college and pro football fanatic. As for WECK, I guess I just don't get the love for Brad. He actually reminds me a lot of Schoop. He isn't as negative, but I don't think he is any more knowledgeable...I can't stand his "free form" rants...he sees himself as some sort of "artist" or something...it is not good radio, for me. Maybe I am just getting old, but I used to live and breath all this stuff 24/7. Now, it just seems, analyzing the draft is fun, for about an hour, but until games are played, and we can see results, it is all just talk...most of it means nothing. None of the local guys are any brighter than some of the better posters here.

You make an excellent point! Of course, a broken clock is right twice a day!

Romney might not be able to live this down....

Sorry DC, I don't spend my time following your every post, like your legion of fans here...you are giving Romney far more credit than he deserves, in this instance...on top of being an idiot! -
So, if your conspiracy theory holds true, Chicago will face either LA, Dallas or OKC in the finals? Or, are you just saying that LA, Dallas or OKC will win it all...the loser in the finals has not been scripted yet?

I don't think WGR55 is great, and as much as I want to like WECK, it isn't a lot better, IMO. Too much schtick...I didn't hear their pre-draft show...what was so good about it? I actually think Joe Buscalia, GR's draft guy, did a decent job too. He does pre-pare. BTW- Yes, the NFL is a billion times more popular than the NHL, but not necessarily in WNY. And those of you unhappy about the lack of Bills talk on draft day will be thrilled to know, they are going to a Sabres PC today...state of the Sabres, and the announcement of a contract extension for Lindy Ruff...

The bills would have likely taken Gabbert
Buftex replied to auburnbillsbacker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Which is pretty much exactly what NeverGiveUp said....he said, the Bills had Newton and Dareus as #1 & 2 on their board, but assumed both would be gone...in that case, they would have picked either Von Miller or AJ Green. Dareus was available to them, as it turned out! -
When did drama queens overtake the Republican/conservative/right? This is all too funny.... Yes, this doesn't get any attention at all! What world do you live in?
-
Actually, I didn't say "you would have a problem" with it, I said "somebody"...there is a distinction. No, I cannot pick the lottery numbers for you, at least not any better than you could. Honestly, I don't have any problem with Obama discussing the issue on Oprah, even after saying he had better things to do. That is a pretty minor infraction to me,and kind of silly. Just my opinion. I don't think it reflects some great inabiltiy to lead people, or any of that other melo-dramatic BS. I have more of a problem with him going on "Oprah", period.

What's the best Pizza place in the city?

1- La Nova 2- Casa Di Pizza 3- Bob & John's LaHacienda (Hertel- though I have not been there in a few years) When I was back for Christmas, I had a 6:30am flight out...I ate a day old slice of La Nova for breakfest...I think it was the best thing I have ever eaten...Casa Di Pizza rocks too! Great place to sit down and eat, especially if the Sabres are on...Buffalo pizza just does not get the attention it deserves, nationally... -

No. Baseball was always my least favorite of the sports. Growing up I played football, basketball and baseball...I loved playing sports, but baseball wasn't so much fun for me. I could hit, okay, for my age, but wasn't particularly good at anything else. I stopped following the pro game, on a daily basis, in the early 90's. I grew up with hardcore Yankees fans all around, so I had to pick another team to pull for...picked the Expos, loved their logo...my interest in baseball wained over the years...I do still enjoy listening to a game on the radio, to relax, and I went to the Mariners home opener this year (they got shelled by the Indians!), but I just don't follow it like I used to. Still love all the "winter sports" though. Cannot wait for the Celtics/Heat series to start...I am not assuming anything, but I would so love to have the C's take that team down. -
Right....if you would have had "zero problem" with that, I am sure somebody would find problem with it...like saying he was just campaigning. I can understand Obamas leadership abilities being questioned, I really can...but this is just a silly argument. Could be, I don't know. Does that matter? I think when he gets back with his birth certificate, I am going to ask to see his tax returns from 1989. The guy in the cubby next to me says he thinks the boss hasn't paid taxes every year.
-
Yeah, but the guy who works in receiving wants to see it...
-
Now, Donald Trump has to produce a document that says he is not a total piece of ****!
-
How did that work out? Now, he his leadership is questioned, because he did just that... Some folks will find an argument in anything...my boss told me to do a bunch of stuff today, but now he is off, getting a copy of his birth certificate, to prove he should hold his job...I think I will screw off the rest of the day...

Because, people on this board, for the most part (not all) automatically think ownership/managment is right, and athletes/labor are wrong. The reason the deal is considred a "bad one" by so many, and the owners, is because the players, collectively, are getting more money than they are accustomed to. They will argue (as I have seen here) that the players make millions to play a kids game, and are too stupid, for the most part, to invest and save, and end up broke. So, of course, it is better for the owners to keep more money...that is the kind of logic that exists here.

Sorry. Your an idiot...logically accurate. Not my fault you are too pompus to explain yourself... Your first post on the Romney gaffe: "In Romney's defense, there's a long, long history of "peacetime" not including dinky little undeclared wars. For example, "Pax Britannica". It's less a "gaffe" than it is a convenient excuse for his opponents." I asked you a question (do you not consider the expense of the two-three wars as a factor in the current financial situation?) your immediate answer was: "I refuse to answer that, not on the grounds that no matter how many times I read it, it's a blatant and idiotic setup of some kind, but also on the grounds that I pretty much already have, repeatedly." You made one post on this point, so I am not sure where you "repeatedly" explained your position. It just sounds like you are not man enough to realize, like Mitt-wit, you said something really stupid. Who are "his oppenents"...what is being "convieniently" excused? I assumed, you were talking about Romney's oppenents? I assume you meant the "wars" were merely a "convenient excuse" for Obama to use as part of the reason for our defecit woes? Wisen me enlightened one! WTF are you trying to say? I am sorry if I missed your point in the reams of other posts you have made over the years...you could just answer the question, or ignore it... -

My teams: Bills, Sabres, Celtics, Expos... a combined 4-9 in championship games/series, in my life. Thanks Celtics! btw- Celtics won 13 championships, before my time, as a fan...I loved the Buffalo Braves in the 70's...didn't start following the C's until the Bird era. And, I was born in 1965, too young to appreciate the AFL championship Bills teams. If I didn't like the NBA (like many here), I would be sitting at 0-6, and minus a baseball team! GO CELTICS!!! Beat the Heat! -
Or just a potent combo of greed and arrogance. However, I had the same thought...I can see some of the newer blood owners, like Dan Schneider and Jerry Jones, wondering why they should be held back, and taking less money for teams like Buffalo, Cincinnati, etc... why not just roll the dice and hope that the NFL's protected illegal monopoly is busted up, so they can make more money for themselves, individually. If small market teams fall by the way side, so be it. They will blame it on the players. I think the judge in this case was very wise, and the owners have been very disingenuous about their motives. They may love the game of football, but they love money more...Goodells' Wall Street Journal piece was unbelievable. I never thought I would ever be on the verge of just hating the NFL...its' been such a huge part of my life, for as long as I can remember... Sorry dayman, your wrong. Don't quit your night job! They have only been talking about this for two years now... http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3404596

The BEST mock draft so far!

Taibbi is awesome! "I get that the Missouri quarterback physically grades out just like a string of other first-round passers who’ve succeeded in recent years, but I can’t get past his name, which sounds to me like "FLABBY GERBIL FART.” -
