I don't know...the Dolphins franchise is a far cry from what it was during the Shula era...maybe they can ruin Luck...NFL history is filled with examples of "sure things" that are ruined by being drafted by moribund franchises...it doesn't seem like the Dolphins have a clue as to what they are doing, these days.

Cowherd could have us rankes #1, and I will always hate him!

I will be at the Giants game, and I am amped...I know what you mean about them...it seems like the Giants have been a Jeckyl and Hyde team ever since Manning has been there...even the year they won the Super Bowl, they played pretty bad more than a time or two...

During the pre-season (I know, I know) I thought Naamann looked like one of our two best receivers...

Remember when he walked into the flying bullets at the chicken warehouse? Jesse to Mike "what's with him and the Terminator stuff?" -
Hate to speculate, and I hope he is alright...but if you saw his mock-retirement announcement on ESPN last week, it just seemed really pathetic...and then it just turned into an "I will be ready to play soon, so watch out"...almost like he was trying to remind NFL teams that he was still out there...and ESPN was playing the game with him... They then ran a package of his highlights, and showed his career stats in terms of where they ranked with the greats of the game. Almost as if he really was announcing his retirement...it was pretty bizarre, actually. Owens even had tears in his eyes (whick looked real) when announcing his "retirement" flanked by his mother, and a brother (IIRC).

I thought it was well done...I remember seeing one of those "unsolved murder" shows some time ago, where a son allegedly decapitated his father while he slept, and bludgeoned his mother...freaky thing was, the the father, although headless, still rose from the bed, and took a few steps, before collapsing...not unlike Gus...it was really creepy, but effective. -

Talking about the Eagles? -
I say they should have gone for it...make it, you win the game...don't make it, worse case scenario, the Eagles tie the game...risk was worth the reward in that situation, IMO.

Yeah, Mark Margolis is one of those great character actors who has been around forever...it is cool that he found such a great role late in life..."Sopranos" was always great with finding old-time tv actors, and giving them distringuished roles. I was blown away by the finale...but am I the only one who is kind of sad to see Gus go? It was a memorable exit, to be sure, but one of the truly great villans...almost a more real life Darth Vader...can't wait for the final season to start... When Walt and Jesse part ways at the end, just by his voice intonation, Walt was trying to subtly convince Jesse that Gus was behind the whole thing...and it is also kind of clear, Jesse isn't necessarily buying it. The very definition of the concept of "breaking bad"! -

Agreed! Once you are in the playoffs, anything can happen. Even the "dumb-luck Seahawks", who conventional sports wisdom says "had no business being there" knocked off the heavily favored Saints in a playoff game. One thing I kinda like, beyond just talent on the field, I think our head-coach has out-coached pretty much everyone he has faced this year. I am really impressed with Gailey on game-day. Other than not running the ball more in the second half against the Bengals (and a time or two yesterday where I would have run, rather than throw) I have had very few complaints about the way the Bills offense is according itself under Gailey. The guy can just flat out call a game...and this band of nobodys isn't likely to lose many games because their coach didin't put them in the best position to win...been a while since we have seen that in Buffalo.` -

I am thinking Gus can't go down like that, without any repercussions...I don't even know what to make of it all, but another fine episode...I will say, though, I shouldn't look at the episode names until after I see them...I had guessed, from the title, that somebody wasn't going to be intact by the end of the episode, and I guessed the correct person...sad, I loved that character. btw- you watch the same shows as me...Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, Dexter, Boardwalk Empire, and Mad Men...I am thinking of dropping Dexter from the rotation...I hated the last season, and I thought the season opener was pretty bad...already know I am not giving The Killing another second of my time. -
Not that it means much right now, but the Sabres Euro Tour might just give them an edge...they looked pumped, and ready to play. I realize, there is the whole jet-lag issue, and the Kings, in particular, have a lot of new pieces (like the Sabres), but the good guys looked like they were in full season stride compared to the two California teams they stomped of Friday and Saturday...lets hope the streak continues...the last three Cup winners were all amongst the 4 teams that took part in the Europeon series the year they won the Cup...can the Sabres make it #4? I am also a Celtics fan...in 2008, the year they added Garnett and Allen, the team played some pre-season games in Italy...it gave the team some focused time together, to build chemistry...all the guys involved with the Celtics that year pretty much said, despite their trepidation of going over-seas to play, in the end, they felt like it really gave them an edge the rest of the season...players bonded as a team, and it gave them a chance to all focus on the same thing at the same time, no distractions. By the end of their trip, Pierce, Garnett and Allen felt like they had been playing together for years, not just a few weeks. Robyn Regehr was awesome, looks like exactly what the Sabres have needed on the blue line... and it was nice to see Lleno and Erhoff contribute right out of the gate. I know people (particularly Sabres players) seem to have mixed emotions about Derek Roy, but he looked really good these two games as well. What to do with Luke Adam...the kid is huge, and goal scorer...Sabres cupboard seems pretty full right now... Let me ask, those who watched in WNY...was Jeanerette in Europe, with the team? I listened to him for a about a minute on the radio, so I know he did the game, but I recorded the game to watch later, so didn't really hear the Buffalo broadcast. I had to watch on Center ICE, and only got the Ducks and Kings broadcasts. The Ducks game was pretty lame...the announcers were in California, watching from satellite...was happy as hell the Sabres won, but the broadcast was just lifeless...the announcers were just okay, but there was very little crowd noise...so either they turned down the sound on the crowd, or Helsinki wasn't all that excited about the game....the Kings broadcast was better.

That would get my vote, at least as far as top 40 things go...truly awful. I remember hearing Paul Kantner saying something like "In the 80's it all just fell apart...we sold more records...but I was miserable....we were playing in some theme park, playing that POS "we built this city" song...about halfway through the song, I just kind of started listening to it, and I said to myself, "how the !@#$ did this happen? How did this get by anyone? Why would anybody like this garbage?" Kantner quit the band shortly therefter... Gotta say, the 80's were "my time" as far as music goes..I was 15 when the decade started, but there was a lot of bad **** going around then...but also some great songs that were buried under terrible studio production. I don't think one can understate enough some of the truly awful stuff that MTV inspired. Even inoffensive rockers like Tom Petty succumbed to the video medium, and in my eyes, it had a bad effect on music. It seemed, for a good part of the decade, a band could only be truly successful if they had a hit video...so you started getting people like Peter Gabriel writing songs, with videos in mind...that never worked for me.

No, she likes the Cowboys...it is sick...but, all in all, not a bad deal...she is very tolerant of my love of sprots, so i can indulge her in the Cowboys and Dancing With the Stars/American Idol nonsense? Oh yeah, and I have to take her, and my two left feet out, about once or twice a month to dance I am little nervous, she really wants to go to the Cowboys/Bills game in a few weeks...I don't know if I can handle her during a Cowboys game, particularly live, and against the Bills...it will be a real test. She gets real cocky during a Cowboys game, like a little kid...still not sure if we are going...I had planned on heading up, with just a bunch of other Bills fans. If she was a guy, and carried on like she does at home, at the Ralph, somebody would surely punch her, or, at the very least, spill a beer on her! Funny, we have been together a long time, and have had some rocky times over the years, but I think I love her more now, than ever. -
Man, everybody is picking the Eagles this week!!

I am not pickeing the Eagles, but, I have to admit, when Bills fever hit its' peak, after the Pats game, this game just scares me...their offensive strengths counter the Bills defensive weaknesses pretty nicely for them. It could be a long day, or, as I am hoping, the Bills keep up on offensively, and win another shootout...unless (keeping my fingers crossed) the defensive coaches answer the bell, and come up with something new...Eagles just have so much speed, and so many playmakers, pressuring Vick into mistakes might be our only shot...they can do it!
