  1. Keef is always cool, in my book (and his!). I remember going to see Darlene Love do her Christmas show years ago, in NYC, and Keith came stumbling in with blinking Christmas lights in his hair.It cracked me up. Yeah, that album artwork "Grrr" is awful...big whup...two new, likely unmememorable tracks (unless they are wretched...still a possiblity!), and a "career spanning" collection of their greatest hits...I have had a few of those ever since the advent of the CD burner! Oh well, still looking forward to the documentary. I will always love this band, even though the bonus tracks on the "Exile" and "Some Girls" deluxe editions are the only legitly good material they have put out in years (actually like a cut or two off each album from the 90's and 2000's, but don't love them)...they are like rock -n'roll Santa Claus to me...you know they are kind of BS, at this point, but the great memories from when you still believed (or when they still put out great records) compensates for the not so thrilling stuff later. For me...
  2. So, those of you who have Madden 13 for PS3...thumbs up, or thumbs down? When I got Madden 11,for PS3, I hated it...but Madden 12 was a little better. My issue with it, as one who plays mainly against the computer (que the "playing with yourself" quips!), is the game is way too easy, or way too hard..there doesn't seem to be an in-between. With the old games, I would always start out playing at the "All Madden" level, and would get progressively better, so it was fun...with Madden 11, it was so difficult to do anything at the "All Madden" level, so I went down a notch to "all-pro"..then it was so easy, it wasn't fun. Maybe an age thing (I'm old!)...although it looks awesome (mostly), I haven't enjoyed playing the Madden game a lot more, before PS3...keep in mind, I don't play on-line.
  3. Tannehill, is that you?
  4. I thought the officials were pretty consistant with what we normally see on any given Sunday in the NFL. They missed a few holding/pass interference calls, like they always do. They threw a **** ton of flags on the Cowboys. And, they still won. Sure, I want the regular officials back...but as far as the quality of the game was concerned last night, if they hadn't remendied us that they were replacement officials, I don't think I would have even realized it.
  5. I remember for about 2 years, we signed and re-signed Joe Klopfenstein...it might have been an NFL record for the most times one player was cut and re-sgined by one team over two seasons....it was during the Jauron years...I think DJ wanted to pick his brain to see if he knew anything about the Bills playbook...cuz the offensive coaching staff was clueless!
  6. All I know about Hagan, he was a tough dude...I thought he played really well in traffic, and just had a physical style that most of the other guys don't have...and he was catching a lot of Fitzys ugly passes at the end of the year...I will assume the coching staff has valid reasons, but to me, as a WR, he was a good notch above the others in that group of "fringe" guys. Not sure about his ST play, but I assume he stuck on the Giants as long as he did, for a reason. I just like him in our offense.
  7. Your point is well taken, but Kosar, Miller, Everett and Rypien all played at very high levels for a few years...Ryp was kind a one year phenom (not bad!), Miller was terrific, but got injured one too many times...Everett, IIRC was MVP, or runner up for one year, and had 3 other really good years, before he started hearing footsteps...and Bernie K was awesome...but he too broke down. As Paul Harvey would say: "And now, you know the rest of the story!"
  8. Colbert reported that the RNC likely tripled Mitts' likely vote percentige amongst African Americans.
  9. Would have liked to see Hagan come back. I suppose there is a reason the guy can't stick on a roster,,,but of all the guys they cut, I liked him most, and thought he could contribute...I get the special teams angle...but how about the WR's who can catch the ball angle?
  10. Yeah, an awful lot of things had to go right, to pull that off.
  11. Actually, the guy, Dennis (the one who was in talking with Hank at the beinging, with his lawyer, asking for "queen for a day" privledges), had direct connection with Walt and Jesse. He worked as the manager (I think) of the laundrimat...as I recall, he had a few encounters with the "chemical brothers", including when they torched the lab. Your earlier point about the scene of the 9 guys getting killed straining credibility was right on, but whenever the show does that (I thought the train robbery thing a few weeks ago was pretty far fetched), it is done so well, you can overlook it.. the montage of the guys getting shived was really well done... btw- have to stick this here, cuz I am not sure how else to work this in...for you with kids..the ultimate Christmas gift, BB style: http://io9.com/5919867/this-breaking-bad-meth-lab-lego-set-is-unsuitable-for-children It is actually "G.B." aka Gale Bottecher...
  12. First episode of the series Walt turned 50. Then, a few weeks ago, they celebrated his 51st...we know this because of Skylars' "bacon celebration"...the enire series has taken place in a year, so far. I don't see it as a "plot error", just a little out of character for Walt. If they had somehow shown Hank seeing Gale's transciption, way back, on his own, and making note of it, it would seem less remarkable that he discovers it now. But, that they actually made a point of him talking to Walt about it, and Hank asking him if he (Walter White) was the "W.W." in Gales' book (albeit in a joking manner), and Walts momentary discomfort were just a little out of tune, I think, Not a big deal...I sometimes wonder how long ahead they script these things...I really don't know. If they had been planning for this to be the way that Hank finds a link between Walt and Gale/Gus, it might have been handled a little more subtly. The Walt we know, would have destroyed that book the first chance he got, after that awkward conversation. Perhaps we can chalk it up to another example of Walts' cockinesss and ego putting him in a compromised position,,.he has had a few of those moments with Hank along the way. Like UConn James says, I think Hank wills start to add things up pretty quickly. He has made a few refernces to how much money Walt was spending (cars, watch, etc), and as I recall, he doesn't know that Walt and Sklar paid (or have been paying) his medical bills...that is a lot of dough for an ex-school teacher and the owner of a car wash that doesn't appear overly busy...
  13. The Dude abides...Ryan Lies!" I think I see a bumper sticker in there somewhere!
  14. The top pic looks a little off, I think, because her right thigh is sort of in "flexing" mode...she looks unhealthily skinny (though more proportianate) in the other photos, below.
  15. It has been popular, for a few years here, to crap all over the Super Bowl era Bills teams...it's what the cook kids do! I do wonder, sometimes, how old some of the people are who post here. The perception that Norwood was a bad kicker is so far off base..Norwood was a huge part of many of the teams victories between 1988-1990...he may not have had the range of Steve Christie. The way some people act, it's as if Levy was a moron for not realizing that Norwood could never make a 47 yard kick. Sure, he had missed a few in that range, but he had also made a few. The revisionist history that goes on here (not you, by others) is maddeing!
  16. Only thing that surprised me a little bit, about Hanks revelation; As AJ was surprised by Mike being a little sloppy in dealing with Walt, when he met his demise...I thought it was a little odd that Walt would leave that book lying around, as it directly links him to Gail Bodeker. It may seem far-fetched, but the whole time, Walt is keeping his secret from his DEA brother in-law, and his DEA brother in-law already made him aware of the "W.W." inscription he found in Gails' notebook. Walt, who was so meticulous as to stop production of meth, for a day (under a deadline) because there was a fly in the lab, wouldn't take this precaution? Walt has been so careful with everything else. Just a minor quibble...still loved it...
  17. I like Florio...
  18. We had our draft yesterday, I had the 7th pick...exactly one spot later or 5 spots earlier than I wanted...in our draft, Arian Foster, Ray Rice, Aaron Rodgers, LeSean McCoy, Tom Brady and Drew Brees were all off the board when I picked. It came to me, a decision between Cam Newton, Matthew Stafford or Chris Johnson. None was my ideal pick (in our leauge QB is vital), but I picked.Chris Johson, figuring a decent QB would be available when I picked next. You said you are re-drafting your whole team, so figure out, or make an educated guess, as to who will be available with your next pick. My guess is, you will go with C Johnson. If he is the best RB available to you, I would suspect that the top 3 or 4 RB's are already gone (Rice, McCoy, Foster)...if you have to wait until the next round (and you said you had no keepers) you are going to be very thin at runnig back...the difference between C Johnsons (assuming he is as good as advertised by the "experts") and a second tier RB is greater than the differnce between, say Brady and Jay Cutler...C Johnsons is one of only a handful of RB's who, assuming there are no injuries, will be the undisputed featured running back...all starting QB's start every game, unless they just suck. I assume you will know which is which in the QB realm. Go with Johnson! In my league, I really wanted Rodgers, Brees or Brady..but they were gone, so I still ended up with Cam Newton in the second round...I can live with that, and I got what is percieved to be an elite running back.
  19. Eh...all I know, if Fitz were to get injured opening week, I would rather see Thigpen keeping the seat warm than just throwing Jackson in there.
  20. Agreed...it is such an obvious choice for this show, it is hard to believe they waited this long to use it. Love me some Tommy James & the Shondells. Great finale...Walt learns the hard lesson, it seems, you can't just "leave it all behind" neatly. He wants out, and, it appears, Sklyar is happy and greatly relieved... but not only does Hank get a clue, but how can he put this whole multi-million (billion?), international opertation on the back burner without some blow-back. My guess is that he is making peace with the people most important to him (Skylar, kids, Hank &Marie, Jesse) and will now attempt to disappear...he realizes there will be reprecussions, and will try to get as far away from home, and his family, as he can. That was one stunnig bit of acting from Cranston last night (as always)...the scene where Lydia "works out" the deal with him was awesome. She just kind of pushed him into it, to save her own life (for now?)...he had intended to kill her...after she left the diner, that shot of Walt was the first time, in a while, we saw a sympathetic Walt. His face just said (without uttering a word) "what the hell did I just get myself into"... And, for you fellow "Friday Night Lights" fans...#3 "FNL" cast member makes their appearence on "Breaking Bad"...ABQ is a long way from Dillon, Tx!
  21. If I had seen "Friday Night Lights" before I moved to Texas, I would have thought it was slightly exaggerated...it's not...people are bonkers for High School football here...I am sure Allen will make their money back.
  22. Jeez...anothter GR thread..."I tuned into the 2 hour hockey show that they have on every day, and they didn't say anything about the 700 NFL players who might get cut tonight by 9pm"... And I'll just bet, ESPN will be carrying the freaking US Open...don't they know that the Bills might cut Zack Brown today?
  23. Coincidentaly, Clint, who was supposed to have done his last job as an actor a couple years ago, has a new movie coming out, starring, from the ads, as the same crumudginly old guy he was in the painfully awful "Gran Torino"...
