  1. Fred Davis meeting with the Jets. http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2013/03/redskins_ufa_tight_end_fred_da.html
  2. We used to do that all the time at my cousins house...it was a blast!
  3. I seem to remember him playing pretty well....and thinking "why the hell haven't they been using him as a WR more?" I remember, as well, Jim Kelly raving about him, saying that people will be plesently surprised at how good a receiver he was.
  4. Thanks for the heads up!
  5. This is an excellent point. Russell Wilson for the Bills may not be near as good as Russell Wilson for the Seahawks. For a lot of players, the team and situation they are drafted in to are as important as their talent. That being said, Buddy has certainly had his blunders, hindsight being what it is. Or if the guys we picked instead weren't so spectacularly unproductive. I'll give you Whitner...but the Bills just haven't gotten enough, even competent, play out of many of their highest draft picks in recent years.
  6. To me, "Muskrat Love"(or any Captain and Tennile) an awful song to be sure, is not something you hear enough to cause a violent reaction...something like "Margaritaville" (actually not a bad song), but if I never heard it again, I would very fine with that!) is far more revolting.
  7. Can't wait...2 hour season premiere. Good tv is back!
  8. Man that looks good....
  9. Only thing is, just two years ago, the Bills were boasting about all of their "no-names", undrafted and 7th round draft picks...after two lousy seasons with those guys, guess what? A bunch have been dumped, and the Bills are re-building.
  10. Anything by Mumford and Sons.
  11. Recent history, hands down, Aaron Maybin and John McCargo. Every time this topic comes up, McCargo gets almost no consideration (I realize he was mentioned early in the thread)...and I will contend, that makes him all the worse. He was so bad, people actually forget about him. The guy barely played in his 4 years (or was it 5?), rarely suited up, and I recall him making only one play that had even a minimal positive impact on a game (IIRC, he recovered a blocked punt, or maybe he blocked it, and somebody else recovered it?). And, somehow, he mananged to swindle the Bucs into signing him to a contract after the Bills, finally, let him go. I suppose, the OP asked "most disappointing" pick, rather than "worst" pick. Mike Williams is far from the worst, but might fit the "most disappointing" category.
  12. They aren't dead...but admittedly, they need to win a lot of games down the stretch...they probably have to win about 11 or 12 of their final 16 games. It may sound impossible, but they have gone on tears like that before. They have played 2 more games than two of the 4 teams they need to surpass, to qualify for the playoffs. It isn't as hopeless as you make it sound. It will obviously take the Sabres playing at a much higher level than they have been, but don't just assume that every team that has been consistantly winning will keep on winning. It happens every year...a team or two get hot, and another team or two cool off. They are coming off their first three game winning streak of the year...what encourages me, they are all quality wins, and, if you watched the games, and watched earlier games, you can't help but notice that they are playing good hockey recently...maybe the culture change you are calling for has started to take place? Also, I will give you that Stafford is struggling...but I don't get the criticism of Pomminville...guy is having a really good season, and has been one of the more consistent players all year.
  13. Just finished watching last nights game against the Canadians. Not bad. The biggest improvement I am seeing over the last 4 or 5 games, they seem to be using space much better, defensively. They still have issues from time to time, but they seem to be actually helping Miller, rather than getting in his way. Ehrhoff and Regher (as expected I suppose) are playing solid defense, and even Jordan Leopold, who many were ready to pull the plug on, is showing some vetran moxi. Tyler Myers has improved as well...though I still don't love his puck handling skills in his own end. Offensivley, they seem to be getting more quality chances (against good teams) though I am still mystified as to how they get outshot so thoroughly every game. Oh well, just gotta keep making your shots count. Never thought Ville Lleno was going to be a shot in the arm for them...but he has been. Fingers crossed.... Wouldn't it be interesting if Ron Rolstons' Buffalo Sabres were facing off against Lindy Ruffs' Tampa Bay Lightening team on Tuesday night?
  14. My guess is that Baltimore will open with Pittsburgh or Cincinnati.

  16. Yeah...it was a mob scene...but I got a chance to talk to Taylor Goldsmith for a few minutes...really funny guy. He told us a pretty funny story about meeting Kris Kristoferson...his "hero". I guess Dawes was set to back-up Kristoferson for some tribute thing they were doing on radio (satallite I think). Goldsmith was saying that Kristoferson is one of his real, legit, all-time idols, maybe his favorite song-writer of all time. So, a little before the show is set to record, he goes over and introduces himself to KK, lets him know that he is a really big fan of his music, and knows the stuff very well..so, if KK needs any help on vocals (KK is very ill and can't really sing for whole show any more), he would be very happy to help out...KK looks at him and says "your fly is down". It was. Then he says "I would want someone to tell me if my fly was down". btw- asked him about another Middle Brother CD...he said the last one was a blast to record, but dealing with three different record lables was a drag...which I took to mean it won't happen soon.
  17. They played at our store last week...really great.
  18. Stafford is most definitely expendable...he is very talented, we have seen it in the past, but he just can't seem to get un-tracked. I don't think he is lazy, just not lucky. Even his shoot out goal last night was a little wacky. A change of scenery would probably be good for him, and his past levels of production (albeit limited) should bring something back in return. I would be open to trading Miller as well. I think it could happen. I think Darcy will wait until the last possible moment to pull the trigger, if he pulls it. It will depend on how much better the Sabres chances look at a playoff run this year, by the time the deadline rolls around. I would be surprised if he is on the roster to start next season. Of course, I also think that Pegula will let Darcy walk at the end of the season, unless the team really makes a heraculian push to the playoffs. Pegula can't be happy witht the way things are going in "Hockey Heaven". If this is the case, than Pegula may not want Darcy making any major trades. Either way, if they do think they can still make a run this year, I would like to see Enroth used more frequently down the stretch..at least more frequently than Ruff would have used him, with a healthy Miller. Despite what he says, I really feel like Miller tires out when he plays too much..and Enroth is kind of streaky. He has looked really solid his last few starts, let him get a little momentum, and let Miller play with less fatigue. I am not sure why everyone is always ready to ship Pomminville off...he is an all-out effort guy, and is productive. I know he doesn't fit the mold of the "team captain" that many would like, but he isn't garbage. I think Pomminville is worth keeping. Maybe, next season, you give the "C" to Ott (does any player on the Sabres roster carry himself like a team captain, more than Ott?), but I think there should be room for Pomminville. And, of coure, I would also try to sign Vanek long-term...but he is a little enigmatic sometimes...does he want to stay in Buffalo? He is hard to read. I don't question his effort, but I am sometimes not sure if the look of disgust he shows comes from his disappointment in himself, or with his situation. As great as he can be, he does seem like a very frustrated player at times. But yeah, I want to keep him. As for the Rochester call-ups, lets face it, the current head coach is playing guys he is comfortable with...the guys he coached in Rochester...and Lindy was playing the guys he was comfortable with.
  19. It sounds good, but what does it really mean? I am completely neutral on Marrone...I can't remember ever not having any opinion of a Bills head coach, new or old. I feel both trepidation and excitement in that.
  20. Okay...two wins in a row...Sabres (finally) showing a pulse. Hodgson looked great tonight...Miller made some terrific saves (especially in the shootout)...Ehrhnoff great game (he is our best D-man by a longshot) and even Ville Lleno had a good effort game...negative: when will they learn to win in regulation?
  21. I had a similar experience with Lou Reed many years ago....it felt kind of cool telling to buzz off...but in retrospect, an autograph would be cooler!
  22. Isn't that kind of what teams like the Packers do? Of course, they had Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers, but they just kept accumulating QB's...even if they didn't really help the Packers, they made good trade bait. I really think you are on to something with this...
  23. Well...the do have to have some receivers...
