  1. Reddog, I recall them showing, more than once, Sherman patting Crabtree on the ass, and then walking in front of him to extend his hand...at which point, Crabtree pushed him away, by the facemask....not hard, just more to say, "get the hell away from me".
  2. Yes, I saw that too...he also padded him on the ass before extending his hand. At that point, Crabtree pushed him away...like "get the !@#$ out of my face"....Sherman is saying that is what prompted his post-game tirade...he was caught up in the emotion, they are competitors, etc etc...I think Sherman should have given Crabtree the same consideration...he just had his the fate of his teams' season knocked from his hands... Sherman actually had about 10 minutes to compose himself for his interview...Crabtree had about 3 seconds. Also, Sherman was all "I am the greatest" after the Saints game, even busted into one his teammates interviews to let everyone know...realizing what he had done, and how boorish he was looking, he reeled himself in and started heaping praise on the teammate who was being interviewed. Not a sin, not a crime, it will happen again, somewhere along the way...not a big deal. I guess what gets me is how many people think this behavior is "awesome"!
  3. I vote: this board gets dumber with each losing season....
  4. Can't all of these things be true?
  5. Unfortunately, that isn't an option.
  6. I would bet on the Steelers. They are a top#2 team as far as national following goes (Cowboys and Steelers have the strongest national following), are not likely to volunteer, and are least likely to be on that list again in the near future.
  7. Chances are, whoever replaces Pettine (should he leave) will be a first time DC. Why not a guy who has been with Belichik for 14 years? Could do far worse. Likely, he will end up in Houston with Romeo. Perahps we pillage somebody from the Jets or Ravens defensive staff? Or, maybe it will be Donnie Henderson.
  8. According to PFT, the Pats are shaking up their coaching staff...Johnson is not likely to be the only coach let go. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/01/21/patriots-shaking-up-staff-pepper-johnson-wont-be-back/
  9. You, like many others are missing the point...what happens on the field "between the lines" (as Sherman himself explains) is fair game...nobody is really complaining, or even commenting on his actions on the field...Sherman even issued an aplology today, and he seems to now get it. Turning the question "Can you walk us through the winning play" being answered with "I am the best corner in the NFL...don't talk about me!" is taking what should be a great moment for his team, and turing into, yet another "all about me" moment. He did the same thing the previous week after the Saints game, much less dramatically. Brady us a whiner, complainer, etc etc, and I don't think anyone here is saying otherwise...but Brady, as much an a-hole as he might be, has never/would never carry on after a game like Sherman did. There is nothing inconsitent about it. Ha ha!
  10. That is great. Ferguson and Freeman were best friends during their Buffalo days.
  11. Except, the Bears have got to know, Cutler has missed a few games nearly every year since he has been in Chicago. I just have a feeling they will figure out a way to get it done. As I said earlier, McCown and Culter are the best of friends (they say) and McCown loves Trestman...his attitude all year was that he was just happy to be getting a shot to play, had no need to be the #1 guy, and was enjoying the backup roled. Now, if he hits FA, and some team wants to offer him 3 or 4 million a year, he might have to think about it...but I dont think he is anyones long-term answer at QB.
  12. Perhaps...but some believe that you can maintain some decorum, be awesome, dominate, and not act like a petulant idiot...it is just a preference some have.
  13. Sorry, rambled in a longer post (nobody reads my posts! ) the headphone commercial he does, which aired during the game, makes it pretty clear that being "misunderstood" or "mischaracterized" was his trademark, even before this happned after the game.
  14. He hasn't.... but some are bent on making this a race issue, rather than a sportsmanship issue. So, in that context, using the necessary false equivalanc thing, it makes perfect sense.
  15. It really was about 10 mintues later...he had a lot more time to compose himself than Crabtree did...yet Sherman is patting him on the ass, and trying to make him shake his hand, seconds after the ball was intercepted.
  16. Yeah, the whole thing is silly, from both sides....people are really tripping over themselves to defend Shermans' boorish behavior, and condescendingly writing off anyone who thinks he acted like a petulant chid as "racist". Also, I am all for chippiness and the likes on the field, it makes sense...but Sherman had about 10 minutes to collect himself before thinking about how he wanted to present himself to a national tv audience...he chose to come off like an egotistical, petty jerk...he may be a smart guy, but his Stanford education (another thing I have seen mentioned dozens of times today) is irrelevant. Jim Harbaugh coached there, and he may be the only person with a claim to being a bigger douche yesterday than Richard Sherman... That said, I have seen your highlighted argument made numerous times since yesterday. But Sherman, himself, is guilty of the same thing. Today he is saying it was all emotions, it was loud, heat of the battle...yadda yadda yadda. Then he goes on to explain that his reaction, which came mintues later should be excused, because it was just retaliaton from him, because Crabtree pushed him after he extended his hand to shake it, as if to give condolence. Now that is funny...Crabtree, just moments earlier had a Super Bowl birth swiped out of his hands by a guy who he has been jawing with all afternoon..moments later, the dream crusher is padding him on the ass, and extending his hand....as Crabtree said afterwards "I am not a "made for tv guy"...that is what he is all about". I can hardly blame Crabtree, at that moment, for not wanting his ass tapped and having to shake the hand of the dude who just destroyed his season. Speaking of endorsements...did anyone not see the headphone commerical, featuring Sherman, that was aired earlier in the game...this whole thing seems contrived...Sherman, before any of this happened yesterday, was already cashing in on the "victim" card. You know, the one with the Dr Dre song? He is being mobbed by reporters, being jovial and pleasent with reporters, and then some off camera reporter asks him about his "reputation as thug"...at that point, victimized again by the evil media, he simply takes the hight road, puts on his nois cancelling headphones and tunes the world out...we live in a new world, where message boards and "twitter wars" are legit news sources... nothing wrong with what Richard Sherman said...but there is nothing wrong with somebody not caring for it either.
  17. Being liked by teammates and oppenants is not the same as blathering on about yourself everytime you get your face on the camera. I would never argue that Sherman isn't a great player, maybe the best in the game, but I don't think being the best, and being a boorish slob have to go hand in hand. I don't think there is anything wrong with it, when it is man to man, in the heat of competition..in fact, I appreciate it..but Sherman goes well beyond that.
  18. Agreed...not the first time. I am sure somebody will defend him, because he is a great player (I am not denying that) and that he is actually quite intelligent, a top student...I hear that all the time...and I realize, players (especially DB's) are in a tough spot, and their cockiness and arrogance are part of what make them so great, they are tools for their success...but their have been great DB's before, and they will be geat DB's after Richard Sherman, and not all of them will find it necessary to act like a classless, boorish idiot...I'll root for those guys. The 49ers and Seahawks game yesterday, as good as entertaining as it was, was an awesome display of pretty much everything that is turning more and more people from sports these days...all very talented individuals involved, don't get me wrong, but just hardly a shred of class to be found on that field in Seattle yesterday...it isn't gamesmenship on dispay, it is just pure boorishness... Kaepernick and Jim Harbaugh are a disgrace to adults everywhere... particutlarly Harbabaugh...so glad to see him gone from competition... when Bryan Cox carried on like an !@#$, we loathed him...now we celebrate it. Can't even remember who it was now, but after lastweeks Seahawks win, they were interviewing Sherman on the field...he was his usual exuberant self, though not calling anyone out..but the guy just loves him some "me"...when they brought in the next Seahawk player to interview, Sherman just walked all over the interview, because he just can't help but love to hear himeself talk...just hyping himself up constantly...
  19. No, they re-signed Moorman. I saw something that kind of gave me the impression that Carpenter might not be the easy signing that you would expect a kicker to be. He said he would be fine competing for a job (reference to Dustin Hopkins?), but then also kind of talked a bit about how his wife would have some say in the decision, and he would be waiting to see what his options are, once free agency starts. Kind of makes me a little nervous, never once did he say he would "love to come back to Buffalo", or anything like that. I may be reading too much into it... the Bills did draft Hopkins. It seems like drafted kickers, many of them who have turned into terrific kickers, seem to have difficulty sticking with the team that drafted them. Even Janikowski in Oakland had a pretty rough first few seasons...but he was drafted so high, Oakland wouldn't dare cut him on a whim. I would be willing to bet that McCown returns to Chicago. He has been around long enough to realize, sometimes if you find yourself in a good spot, you shouldn't tamper with it. He doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who thinks he needs to be a starter somewhere...he and Cutler and Trestman seem to have a great working relationship. Also, I understand the longing for a pocket passer, but the Bills, while employing mobile QB's, haven't really made that a big part of the offense...it is nice to have it as an option, however. I know it isn't exaclty the same, but remember how good Todd Collins, the perenial clip-board holder looked when he got his second starting shot in Washington? He parlayed that into a nice contract to back-up Cutler in Chicago, and was terrible.
  20. I believe that Whaley is on record as saying that EJ was "his pick". Not everyone is convinced he is a bad pick, despite your constant crusade to convince everyone that he is. I know, you don't feel like you do that (that gave me a chuckle), but most knew that Manuel was going to be a project, but it appears Whaley and company are convinced his upside is worth the growing pains it is going to take.
  21. Good for him. He is one of my very "all-time" favorite Bills.
  22. Well, by that measure, the Bills are going to really, really good one of these years!
  23. Yeah, I don't remember that at all either...I think citing Jerry Jones "worst mistake I ever made" comment was the product of some fans (the ones who tend to try to search for the silver lining, rather than piss on everything) trying to desperately get excited about the Gailey hiring. I seem to recall it being a very unpopular decision...
  24. Yeah, surprised about the Tressell thing too...he is the most popular choice amongst Browns fans...not to say that means a lot, but the team is taking a PR beating right now. You would thing they would at least float out the possibilty...Tressell is likely way too smart to take the job.
  25. Breaking news..... Pete Carrols first job in the NFL was as Bills DB coach, 30 years ago...now back to our regularly scheduled programing! Just funning with you...the douche bag was our DB coach in one of our worst years...IIRC, Dick Jauron replaced him when Hank Bullough took over in 1985, the other worst year in Bills history!
