  1. That "the pop legend" is a "he".
  2. Okay, I've got a nit to pick. Your announcement says "2pm EST". Eastern STANDARD Time? At least in the vast majority of the Eastern part of the USA (You're not Canadian are you?) we currently on DAYLIGHT time, EDT. You're not the only person to do this, but it irks me when one tries to be unnecessarily specific and actually get it wrong. So, is the PC in another ~75 or ~135 minutes?
  3. Jokeman: ofiba: Good point Jokeman. Although I would imagine they could techinically see & hear, since they would be effectively suffering from severe hypoxia, they'd be too stupid to comprehend anything.
  4. Peerless Price : Didn't he play w/ Leif Larsen when he was here? Either his def of "by far" is different from mine, or he's mistaken. I was under the impression Larsen was one of the strongest players in the NFL ever. Didn't he set a rcd for the bench at the combine and was DISAPPOINTED w/ his performance?
  5. Okay, what was the daughters name that was supposed to go out w/ Chuck? (I can only imagine that the planned evening entasiled more than eating duck )
  6. Fat, drunk & stupid is no way to go through life, son.
  7. Thanks. I was gonna guess the Niners, but I also recall/thought that at least for some period when she might've been one, they were devoid of cheerleaders. I suppose if I was really industrious, I could've just researched & answered it myself. NAH.
  8. In Canada (at least that's where the Co is headquartered). I figured you shoulda picked up on this.
  9. Wasn't Teri Hatcher a cheerleader?
  10. I had wondered/obsevred this, too but it was somewhat explained in an episode of TNG. IIRC, there was some sort of relic people were after & after it was "activated" it indicates that at least the species present (Vulcan, Human, Romulan & I think one other) were created by some very advanced entity eons ago.
  11. I didn't know that everyone post Enterprise had translators implanted in them. That still doesn't explain why every alien doesn't look like a Hong Kong Kung Fu movie (lips not synchonized w/ noise). FWIW, I recall an episode when Archer was talking w/ an alien & the translator malfunctioned & she sounded like gibberish.
  12. So that's how they manage to communicate in real time over vast distances on Star Trek, etc. And I thought this was another of those Hollywood liberties they took (like the fact that almost all aliens are able to speak English and that you can easily access and understand/decipher their data).
  13. I thought I read somewhere (probably BillsDaily) that getting rid of Holcomb was far more costly cap-wise than keeping him. If this is true, unless we have (a) substantially better option(s), I would assume he remains a Bill.
  14. I seemed to recall that supposedly being done a few yrs ago. I noticed that the article you linked was last updated in 2000.
  15. Then again, w the dedication we've put into upgrading the O-line, don't you think this makes it a far more appealing option for potential FA RBs rather than the other way around. Also, I think it's clear that our OL NEEDED upgrading and it appears that many top FAs were signed quickly (& arguably for a premium) so we didn't want to get stuck shopping the bargain basement bin (again).
  16. Handles just like a Cessna 172, huh? I read in that article that they went up at a rate of 10,000 fpm. If it can go up that fast, it can go down faster. 2000 fpm makes my ears/head uncomfortable; I think my head might explode if I decended that fast.
  17. I have noticed that he can very effortlessly throw the ball about 55 yds.
  18. That's gotta be AWESOME. The guy (Reilly) does an amusing account of the experience, too.
  19. Actually, I mentioned to my friend that I consider him Top 10, i.e. IMO, he might not even be top 5. But w/ the recent rise in salaries and the fact that CBs are among the higher paid positions (which corresponds to their value and scarcity of good/great ones), I think that IS the cost of A (not THE) top talent.
  20. You are correct in what a signing bonus is. The reason there's "guaranteed" money that isn't merely a SB is due to the CBA & how a team wants to amortize the cost of said player. There is, or at least was, a limit to how far out a team can amortize the SB duration. For instance, Clements got an 8 yr contract & let's say a $16m SB, so you'd think that'd be $2m/yr of the amortised bonus for Cap purposes, but in actual fact, it can only be amortised over I'm guessing 5 yrs (let's say 4 to make the math easier), so his cap cost would then be $4m/yr in addition to his salary. So instead of giving him say a $20m SB which would be amortized over 5 yrs (@ $4m/yr of an 8 yr cnt), they instead give him a $16m SB w/ another $4m guaranteed at some later time which would then be amortized over the remaining duration of the cnt. . It also might make things more 'flexible' when it comes time to cut him due to excessive Cap cost relative to production. FWIW, from a practical standpoint, you can assume that the 1st yrs salary is guaranteed in that it's pretty certain that after forking out for a big SB, a team isn't going to cut a player who has a presumably pultry salary (in comparison). (You could possibly even consider some subsequent yrs relatively gauranteed in that it often amounts to more cap cost to cut a player than to keep them.)
  21. I just got an email from a 9er fan who was asking about Clements. As I told him, I'm "optimistic" that the Bills made the right move essentially signing 2 OL for the price of 1 CB. We had a BAD offense that even at the end of the season was at best mediocre. In the opinion of most, poor line play was primarily the cause. Unless you have a GREAT defense, you're not going far w/ an offense like that. To me, it seems easier to make a putrid O mediocre than a mediocre D awesome. You're correct in that losing Clements likely will have an adverse effect on our ability to stop the run. Conversely, having a much improved O, will indirectly help stop the run. W/ Clements you had a largely known quantity. Although the Clements of 2005 is NOT worth that sort of $, but how he played the latter part of last yr was. 2 new, young OL from different teams (one of which sucked) is much more of a gamble. You just don't know what you've got. As for losing Fletcher, I can only assume that the thought at OBD is that he doesn't fit our Dee scheme and that they're looking to improve at MLB. He certainly IMO was at least serviceable, but is it worth that sort of $ for someone who really isn't what you want?
  22. If he does, figure you'll see a few more batted down passes, by the back of his head. I think the dudes like 6'8". Seriously, although the guy might be capable of playing an interior position, his body shape (tall, long and "skinny") naturally leads itself to playing tackle (or D-Line).
  23. Not that I'm helping matters any, but 1st I assume you're using WinDoze. Am I correct in that the only way that Windoze determines what type of file something is is by its extension, i.e. a video AVI file will be named Filename.AVI? That's primarily just a question, but if you think it's an AVI file, you can try renaming it and you'll be all set. Of course combining multiple video files is likely more difficult as each file likely has a header in it's composition.
  24. Thanks Gavin.
  25. Speaking of LOST & TMOL, isn't there some fictional work that is about solving TMOL, and it is determined mathematically that the answer is 42? Anyone know what book it is?
