What batch of kool-aid will Russ whip up next?
San-O replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
+ 1 TBD # 1 apologist. FYI: It's not even real Kool-Aid anymore, it's just some knock-off generic "bug juice", like they used to serve us little kids at summer camp. IMO. -
Exactly. Many on this board felt is was a bad hire from the beginning given Crossman's poor performance in Det. I believe. Yet Marrone was allowed to hire him anyhow. I would like to understand from someone also why a rookie head coach is allowed to hire personal friends anyway? Who signed off on that? A one year drop for # 9 to almost worst in the entire league is ridiculous. I went back and reviewed, and no team in the NFL had that much of a drop in this one year period.
-
Not sure if I'm reading this correctly or not, however it looks like the Bills Special Teams ranked # 9 overall in 2012, and dropped to # 30 overall in 2013. That's incredible, and certainly not the fault of the players completely. From # 9 to # 30? That's over 20 spots. I would like Marrone to address this as he has been talking about accountability all year. Bad hire. http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/teamst

Marrone officially has lost credibility, and all the talk of accountability was just more B.S gargage. Starting to seem like old times again. Oh well, what did anyone expect.

Well, he DID go all the way to Albany! : ) Or Syracuse, sorry. Syracuse. -
Right, and this whole "accountability" crap we've been hearing from Marrone is also very suspect if he keeps his pal. IMO,

and... Now that that pesky regular season is again over for the Bills, we can focus our attention on the draft for another 4.5 months!
-
The Bills simply do not evaluate talent well at THE most important position in pro football, the QB. Is has been like this for about 20 years now, and until they field a QB who can actually play, it will continue.

That's very interesting. I thought the shotgun was used to help him see the field better and have more time to scan the field and complete his reads. Not an expert on this stuff. Also, the article mentioned the reading the field and cutting down the field to help this, and Marrone basically came out after one the the last games and said they gave him too much, and needed to scale back. Wonder what they do from here? I also wonder how committed they are to E.J. at this point. This is the first QB selection of the new coaching and G.M.. -

You may be correct. If so, this would mean two coaching/staff issues for Marrone: o Hiring his friend for ST. o Letting rookie OC be QB coach as well. Hope he corrects both in the off season. If think he stands pat. Unfortunate, as better QB and ST play really hurt them this season. IMO -

That was really a very comphrehesive analysis. Great post. So: o Pocket play: footwork and other issues. We knew this o Accuracy: inacurrate. horizontal vs. vertical placement. See college scouting reports. o Reads: lot's of problems, including scanning the field and progressions. Major issue. No progress. Marrone as much admitted. - I am going to throw in ball security as well, and INTs sacks and fumbles. - If E.J. isn't "injury prone", that's fine, but he does have consistent "health issues". - Slow start. again, from college scouting reports. What is this about? What does he do well? The Bills took him very high and I want to know what they saw exactly? If he was this much of a project, why take that high, except they had few choices? Foot work is an issue everyone goes to, however again shows no improvement of note. Why? I hope he impoves. -
Alex Carrington.... i don't get it

Good point. /\ How much do you do for a guy with 9 starts in 4 years? I think the Bills need more O line help than D line. Not sure how much a backup DE is worth? -

What? Really? Four years and 9 games late? -
Hate to say it..... (QB situation)

So, I guess EJ has no health concerns: got it. -

Neither are starting NFL Qbs in my opinion, and I agree that the Bills need to draft another QB in 2014, which they probably won't. My point is, if the 1st rd. QB is that close to the PS QB, what have you really got? -
You make some excellent points, really. My concerns are general QB play, but his health is an issue IMO, and his general accuracy and ability to hit receivers down field. With the Bills having nobody behind him as we saw this year, I draft a QB again for backup AND competition if for no other reasons. You can't assume he is going to make it through the next season and you can't have another throw away year as they did this season regarding the QB play. IMO. If he turns out to be the the real deal, GREAT! You maybe have some trade bait with the other QB?
-
Then, we can forget about the playoffs for another couple years. Manuel isn't the guy. I don't understand why teams can draft any player they want in higher rounds in consecutive years, but not a QB?
-
He's NOT injury prone? Well, he's not "healthy" prone, that's for sure.
-
... and throw in one of the worst statistical QBs in the league? I give you, the 2013 Buffalo Bills!!!
-
Warning: Troll. Uncle Rico: How much you wanna make a bet I can throw a football over them mountains?... Yeah... Coach woulda put me in fourth quarter, we would've been state champions. No doubt. No doubt in my mind.

Why is Graham used more than Goodwin?
San-O replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He might not "drop" a lot, but he certainly doesn't catch a lot. I saw a % drop statistics, and found another. Also has "targeted" and % for thayt also. Basically, Graham isn't going to make a lot of catches that don't hit him in the hands. Choice: forget it. Might as well just throw the ball in the dirt. http://www.sportingc...ats/drops/2013/ -

For the record -- Manuel's rating today was 105.0

Too bad the Bills can't play J'ville at the end of a meaningless season every year. Wait... MAYBE THEY CAN!!!
