Darrynton Evans practice window opened.

Of all the backup RBs in pre-season, Evans looked like the most elusive back. Actually had some great wiggle, ability to cut, and some burst. I actually wonder if they have some plans for him. -
Week 7 - Titans at Bills Game Week Thread

I forgot about OJ Howard! I had high hopes for him. -
Two of Bass’s blocks this year (including this one) have been such horrendously bad shanks, that they went into the hands of the defenders. I actually think if quinnen Williams hadn’t touched this, the kick would have been even worse.

that’s what I was wondering. Not “fitting it up,” as good ole Dave Wantstad used to say after we would give up 300 yards rushing.

I would love to see a cover 1-type breakdown on Williams. While he seems to be making a lot of tackles, we also have been getting absolutely gashed in the run game, and I am wondering whether any of that is due to him.
-
He also had a huge block on Sauce on Josh’s last run…. Although it remains unclear whether Sauce actually tries to tackle runners.

Cleveland Browns building a new dome stadium

couldn’t agree more. The reality is no one is building open air stadiums anymore. Total waste of money, not to mention how it negatively impacts game play and the fan experience. -

Much smarter plan than the Bills. They will get a much better return out of it.- 228 replies

Kicker Lucas Havrisik signed to PS
Miyagi-Do Karate replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
a lot of times kickers get better and stick with a change of scenery. Hopefully this is the case with this new guy. -
I see what you are saying. He is very off balance at the start. On the kick above, he is also at the right hash, so he is trying to draw it a little. I think he just can’t kick a draw like that without the risk of duck hooking it. He is a mess. I think it is a balance thing and just a lot of band aides on trying to fix his slices.
-
Agree. No idea. the best analogy I can come with is a golf swing. Some guys just have natural fades (or draws). I am not sure a guy like bass with his fade can change his natural style now without a lot of inconsistencies, and that may be what we are seeing.
-
I was just re-watching the missed PAT. I don’t get why Bass comes in to the ball so much to the right. I believe the conventional kicking Wisdom is you kick it on the lower left hand side of the ball. I suspect he has been changing it up to compensate for his “slices”— but coming in and hitting on the low right side is causing these bad duck hooks. he needs to just go back to his natural fade.

Dion Dawkins *really* hates the Jets

This is awesome. -
That’s fair. I think his shortcomings are more noticeable because we also don’t have Milano out there (and have missed Bernard and Johnson for stretches too). A middle of the defense featuring those three guys would make Hamlin look a lot better.
-
the broadcast made it seem like the one end of the field (where the two short kicks were missed) was swirling badly.
-
I actually think we are at the point where Bass is so far gone mentally that anyone else will do. I don’t mind getting a guy on the market who is inconsistent from 45+. But we got to have someone who can basically make automatic 40-yarders and PATs, and there are people out there who can.

Hindsight is 20/20. But I am at the point with this team that I would rather see them be super over-aggressive and get burned that way. Blitz and send 5 rushers, or even 6.
