"NEW YORK - Gary Dell'Abate, longtime producer of Howard Stern's radio shows, threw out the first pitch for the New York Mets in their Saturday game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Dell'Abate, known to Stern fans by the nickname "Baba Booey," took to the mound to raise money for autism awareness, but he mostly seems to have raised awareness of his poor pitching abilities. Newsday called the pitch "one of the most unathletic things I've ever seen from a grown man," and other media outlets have joined in the pile-on.
In a video posted to YouTube , Dell'Abate is seen pacing nervously before the pitch. As Bitten and Bound put it , "the second shows why he was so nervous -- because he has no athletic ability to speak of...or so it would seem."
Dell'Abate reportedly consulted with a sports psychologist before the pitch, but that wasn't enough to prevent him from throwing what the NY Daily News called "the most embarrassing ceremonial first pitch in baseball history."
Still, Dell'Abate, a longtime Mets fan, can take consolation in one thing: The Mets beat the Pirates 10-1."
