  1. Was weed involved?
  2. CB26 you are dead on. Nate Sudfeld is the key here. They were ready to bench Foles for him if Foles was having a bad playoff game http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2752030-doug-pederson-doesnt-rule-out-benching-nick-foles-for-nate-sudfeld-in-playoffs https://insidetheiggles.com/2018/02/28/philadelphia-eagles-have-a-ton-of-confidence-in-nate-sudfeld/
  3. They are using Mort, Shefty, etc to set a price...doesn't mean they will get it. They got this for Bradford because of timing. Vikes were desperate. I think if the Eagles hold him and wait for a training camp injury -- yes they can get maybe a 1 and a 3 or 1 and 2. If they sell now when there are other options--they won't get this.
  4. I think 2-24 and 3-32 should be offered...still provides the Bills three picks in the top 60 to address other needs. Would also draft a QB with one of the fifths.
  5. Great thread..... Zay is the obvious choice. He has the extra motivation that his mom will kick his ass if he doesn't improve... I think Tanner Vallejo was still partially rehabbing elbow/arm injuries last year from his last year in college....I expect to see contributions at or above Milano http://www.nfl.com/draft/2017/profiles/tanner-vallejo?id=2558289 Also--interesting was that he was suspended for the team's bowl game his senior year...maybe McD is willing to look past some behavior issues if the explanation is good.
  6. More goes on at the combine than just college evaluations. Every agent is there. It's a precursor to signing your own vets and for free agency. Its great to have the owner there to help make the pitch...
  7. JP Losman-22nd overall (ironically)--other than that you are dead on ChevyVM... All of us try to forget JP and EJ....My take is we no longer draft a QB that goes by his initials. 26CB and Hapless have both said it well. A Franchise QB masks a lot of other needs and sets the team up for sustainable contention. Beane and McDermott are not going to be satisfied with eeeeeking into the playoffs and getting eliminated...they want a Lombardi and so do we. You sell the freaking farm to get a QB you believe in...If any or all of Rosen, Darnold, Mayfield or Allen tickle their fancy -- you get to the top 10 or top 5 and grab them. The Bills have a ton of cap money after this season. They will fill holes in FA not the draft next year. Next year's first and second rounders are fair game in this draft if they have someone in which they believe. Next year's picks will be attractive because there is the sentiment is that there is a good chance the Bills will take a step back (I was in Vegas this week and we are in the bottom third of the odds for the Super Bowl). McDermott is banking on his and his staff's ability to get the team to overachieve again next year to keep us in contention and I like those odds. My bet--Beane already has a deal with Gettlemen in place to move up....Its a haul and some will complain -- but this is about winning for the long term and the only way you do that is to get a Franchise QB.
  8. I heard he had a positive pee test..... I heard he slapped a GM in one of today's interviews I heard he scored 5 on the Wonderlic I heard he Rosen'd TBD... I heard he "likes" Pandas What other **** can I start that causes him to fall to a position where R1-21+R1-22 = Josh Rosen. Really like this kid...
  9. My wish for Jim is that he lives long enough to see his grandkids grow up to be as tough as he is. No one punches harder than Jim in these kinds of fights. He brought us fans so many joyous moments that far outweighed any heartache. Sending every prayer I can to hope for another winning battle.
  10. Joe Webb's package is the only #14 on this team...except he's a free agent. Sammy with Benjamin sounds pretty damn good, but not very likely at all.
  11. Plus its pretty damn cool to see Grandpa Jack in Bills gear....gotta keep that Upper Arlington legend in our corner...
  12. Well...Nick O'Leary developed nicely....... So in hindsight, this was a good no sign.
  13. Beane is viciously smart like a cobra.....patient but always ready to strike....;-)
  14. From Buffalo Rumblings: https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2018/1/17/16896846/money-buffalo-bills-save-cutting-tyrod-taylor-trade-june-1-designation-release-salary-cap If they release him before paying his bonus 2018 cap hit: $18.08 million Roster bonus due: $6 million Salary due: $10 million Dead Money: $8.64 million Guaranteed offset: $1 million Cap Savings: $10.44 million ($16 million post-June 1) If they pay his roster bonus before trading/releasing him 2018 cap hit: $18.08 million Roster bonus paid: $6 million Salary due: $10 million Dead Money: $14.64 million Guaranteed offset: $1 million Cap savings: $4.44 million ($10 million post-June 1) So this means is a $6 million insurance policy on the cap...is this right? I guess if they designate post-June 1st its only a $400,000 insurance possible -- which is great. However, it puts $6 million in dead money into 2019 but that's okay -- Bills have plenty of 2019 cap space.
  15. Awesome....way to rep the USA and the Bills, Emily.
  16. Brissett had a decent year in his second year (which was essentially his rookie year) with a bad team. 59% completion, over 3000 yards, 13TD to 7 INT. He was running for his life a lot. McCarron is really smart, has little wear and tear. He is accurate, high intellect and a good leader. He is into the game. He learned in 2015 when he got pounded against really good competition in a playoff push (12 sacks in 90 attempts) to get rid of the ball quickly. Just speculating but I think McD is suggesting to Beane to keep the picks; get me some front 7 D help with three of the 5 top three round picks -- Vita Vea, Lorenzo Carter, Josey Jewell -- in the first three rounds; use a couple of picks on weapons -- deep WR corps...and I will get us further this time. So there's my logic -- flawed as it may be...if you go for one of the top 3 in draft you are giving up everything to get them. I think this strategy gives you two potential QB starters who are both young and an unprecedented opportunity to get younger where you need to.... --
  17. Here's who I want on the depth chart at the start of the regular season... 1) AJ McCarron - at a number lower than Tyrods--the market is flooded--I think this is realistic 2) Jacoby Brissett - via trade for Shaq Lawson. Bills also get a pick (4th or 5th). 3) Nathan Peterman Most of you will be searching for the thumbs down emoji....hee hee....
  18. I think agents do the dirty work most often. It would be smarter for the player to enter every interview like he wants the job and let the love of the game, intellect and work ethic shine through. If a kid doesn't want to go somewhere that's the agent's job to communicate. It's a perverse system because the agent may be talking the player into a lower draft position and slightly less money for the agent ... but in the long run the agent wants happy, long-term clients and endorsements and second contracts are where agents really get paid.
  19. Just my take, but as we all have read, Josh is part of a wealthy family. Both parents accomplished ice dancers. Mom was captain of the lacrosse team at Princeton. Dad a spine surgeon, mom a former magazine editor. Living in Southern California. Mom and dad divorced when he was 15. When he was 10 he was the top-ranked tennis player in his age bracket in Southern CA. I think it's been instilled in him to speak his mind and like most 21 year-olds, sometimes he speaks it as if the world's sum total of all knowledge has somehow entered his cranium. Some may say this is a sign of entitlement and likely some of that seems very true. I also see a little more with this young man. I see a fire to play football and to disrupt. He could have gone to a more decorated college football program (Followed his Bosco Prep alums- Palmer, Sanchez, and Leinhart to USC), but he chose UCLA. He seems to be the kid that will protect his teammates and take on any heat that is coming from the media and others toward his team. Kids born of privilege don't necessarily make bad NFL QBs (Mannings, Palmer, several others), it's the intellect and competitive fire that makes the difference and I see more Manning in this kid than Rob Johnson. Just my take. BTW--I met, and have gotten to know well, a person who knows the Darnold's pretty well. I have a very high opinion of Sam just from what I have learned about him. More upper-middle-class family, very grounded, hard worker, very smart. From a personality and leadership perspective, I think either one of these young men are good ones to build a football team around. There may be some early pain with both, but I think these are both gems. I think they both fit the McBeane model.
  20. You mean you don't like dialog like... "I know people. People who can hurt you" "I know all the people you would send to hurt me and they all like me better......"
  21. and you all call this a football board...what the freakin' hell!!! I can't pick just one...he plays the tough, vicious, grizzled character with such heart and passion so very well, whether it be the hero or the villain. Parts are written for him. To a person like me who is far outside the industry that seems to be a very high honor.
  22. Chris: Brandon, is this an okay way to answer this fan question? Brandon: Excellent, Chris. You keep it up and maybe we can get a 6th or 7th for the guy Coach benched. Chris: Happy to help the cause. Brandon: Here's a Tim Horton's gift card. Enjoy buddy! (Editor's Note: Brandon = Beane not Russ)
  23. Wearing your damn beer goggles again......"I swear she was a solid 8 last night around 11:30 PM"
  24. Brent Musburger will move to Buffalo....Another note on this is that Saban will be in Daboll's ear on this one. http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2017/04/aj_mccarron_absolutely_a_start.html
  25. Given the market...he may get $15-18 Million a year for 133 career attempts (4-5 games maybe)..
