I was at a Security planning retreat for the 1996 Olympics. Surrounded by Federal, State, County and Municipal Law Enforcement brass from agencies around Atlanta at St. Simon's Island. The SAC for the FBI and I are huge Bills fans and we kept stepping out of the planning retreat to go to the "bathroom"...Pretty soon the entire crew is in the bar with us on an unplanned break that coincided with the late 4th quarter and overtime. Hysterical. Everyone became a Bills fan that day....

Bills used three wide over half their plays last year according to Sharp football https://www.sharpfootballstats.com/personnel-grouping-frequency.html Cian must believe no one ever gets injured in football and there is no need for depth. Foster, Jones, Beasley and Brown will see the field plenty this year. Roberts will be active on game days and the 6th body will be there for added depth. Amazes me that the Bills have, after a couple of years of a pretty empty cupboard, assembled an middling NFL caliber receiving corps and now someone with a forum wants to tear it down. Thank God Cian is not in the front office.

This is funny every time. Shrek in human form gets me every time...and the Whaley references are just spectacular. -
The Rise of the Snowplow Sports Parents
JoeF replied to Warcodered's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's 6 and a half, Poleshifter, but he is surrounded by older siblings who play or played sports. He is a confident little man. He had something to say and he said it. It was more effective than anything an adult could say. The over officious Dad didn't say a lot the second half of the game. The thing I loved best is that he said it just "matter of fact" like when the dad was butting into the halftime huddle. He wasn't obnoxious but he said it loud enough for me to hear as I was handing out halftime waters. I don't think many outside the huddle heard it. The kid is already smarter than me...damn... I agree MJS...I am an old curmudgeon with a young son and the obnoxious parents do stand out...I just don't get being that way. I want to see my kids play for the love of the sport and the love of team. I never wanted my behavior to take away from that love. -
The Rise of the Snowplow Sports Parents
JoeF replied to Warcodered's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There has always been that element MJS, but having kids over a long period -- age range 25 to 6, I believe it gets worse with every generation. I agree with gobills1212, the minority of over officious (to quote Marv) parents 15 years ago has now become the majority. Case in point, the parental group for my daughter's HS state champion lacrosse teams her junior and senior years (3 years ago), where 8 young ladies who were sophomores, juniors and seniors her senior year got D1 Scholarships, was better behaved than my 6 year old son's bumble bee soccer team parents. Yesterday, my little guy at halftime looked at the parent of one of his teammates and said, "Your kid is good, just let him play, don't tell him what to do and don't tell the coach what to do with him." No matter where my guy goes in sports, he has learned to spot and call out jerks. He and I talked about this for a while after the game. He asked me if I was mad at him for being disrespectful to an adult...I said that the adult was acting like a kid -- so it was okay.- 79 replies

John Warrow’s High Praise For Beane & McDermott Regime
JoeF replied to BillyWhiteShows's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We judge moves as fans knowing about 10% of the information Beane and McDermott have at their disposal. We look at training camp practices, preseason games, and games and think we know a player. We know little about a player's work ethic, attitude, intellect, temperament, who he hangs with, what the security report/background check says, how he has responded to making actual money...how can we judge? The reason I like this regime is that all the factors outside the on-field performance matter a lot to them and I think they are vital in building a roster. To your point, no one is going to get this 100% correct....but this team needed the hope of a franchise QB badly and this regime got rid of guys who for one reason or another didn't fit to get the best hope for a franchise QB since 2/1/1997. -
The Athletic - $24 for 1 year - today only

Lots... - Better QB room now than last year. Didn't realize that basically every body but he and offensive assistant Shea Tierney had changed out from the core of the room at the beginning of last season. - Anderson and Barkley came in just to help and support him. Alluded that it was different than the Peterman and McCarron dynamic where all three were competing for the same job - Lots of off the field questions. Says he really focuses on helping causes - Super Cade; Leukemia and Lymphoma society (Sister works for Central CA chapter) - The temptations of the role - Relationship with Barstool Sports -- for which Tim kind of chastised him - Building relationships with new teammates -- Morse and Beasley were singled out Its a good read. -

I know there are a lot of folks that hate paying for content...but both The Athletic and the Buffalo News Bills Blitz are worth it to me. Its far less than my combined subscriptions were to Sports Illustrated, the Sporting News and The Bills Digest were back in the cave man days. Tim Graham's interview with Josh Allen and Vic Carruci's story on John Brown (both today) are really worth the price of admission. Sorry if this offends the Internet content should be free crowd... -

I agree Tipster. These kid interaction things can go horribly wrong. Case in point...

Gaine had a 5-year deal according to Houston Chronicle Texans and NFL beat writer John McClain (Not of Die Hard Fame)...gets paid for 3 and a half more years.

JK-I threw an interception once and broke the defensive back's leg on the return. JA-Daboll said you had bad footwork on the play. JK-***** that fat ass JA-That's what he said you would say...

Jim learned concepts of the run and shoot and KGun directly from the inventors -- Mouse Davis, the co-inventor June Jones and the refiner (Ted Marchibroda). If Daboll had this kind of foundational knowledge at his disposal and didn't use it, I would question why not. It's like having Watson from Alexander Graham Bell's lab in your neighborhood and not using him. Josh has an intellect and athleticism that maybe even surpasses Jim's -- why not give some of these concepts a shot? Its a nice click-bait story -- but its not really news...
