Is it worth sending this to Matt Barkley or Shady to place in Josh's locker? https://www.amazon.com/Justin-Bieber-Purpose-Cardboard-Cutouts/dp/B01M97RFMO/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=3056C59EGLKWX&keywords=justin+bieber+cutout+life+size&qid=1562807588&s=gateway&sprefix=Justin+Beiber+Cut%2Caps%2C142&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&smid=A2FQ5GG01HBOZ1 -
This is a great thread T Master! I always try to remember that the personnel and coaching staff see these guys every day. They know work habits, they know lifestyles, they know significant others, they know cultural fit, etc. At some point (likely not until Josh's second contract is more immediate on the horizon (if Josh earns it)); they will have to make some priority decisions on second contracts for the young core you mentioned. So we are talking the 2021 off-season where they start to manage the cap by making decisions on stricter priorities caused by a then $25-30 Million a year hit for a franchise QB. The good news is that Beane and McDermott are in lock step and they are both long term and short term thinkers. By that I mean, from now on they will prepare to field a playoff team every year. They will fill holes via UFA to do it. They mostly won't be huge deals in the market place, unless its a player younger than 26 or 27 (for positions other than RB) and 24 or 25 for a RB that they target. We started to see that this year. All but one of the OL signed (Morse) is essentially on a one year prove it deal with little cap implication for cutting. Kroft is a one year prove it deal. Brown and Beasley are both $3 Million dead money to cut after this year and about $1.5 Million to cut after the second year. Top 100 draft choices are gold -- you have the player for 4-5 years on the cheap and this is how you build and replenish the core. That's why you draft Cody Ford even after signing virtually every upper second tier OL UFA on the market. So what's that mean for the young core -- considering and hoping Josh commands a $25-30M..you start looking at a few things for each impending young core UFA: 1) The total body of work of the player. Is his play style sustainable through the bulk of the second contract. Do we see any deterioration physically? Is he one night on the town away from running over someone on Chippewa??? 2) How does the player's position stack up in UFA and the Draft...is there someone we like better this year or next? Long term is sometimes a two year cycle. 3) How strong is the coaching at the position? Do we have a sustainer in the role or a developer? If we brought in a new position coach, would we let this guy go? Or if we are keeping this coach has he developed a great relationship with this guy that can get the most out of the player? 4) If we let the player go and we just can't find an immediate replacement, what is our depth like? How much drop off will there be? Is there an impact to special teams if we promote depth. This is complex ***** and for the first time in a while we have people in roles I think can handle this. We will see guys go and we will wonder why and we will react with our normal measured craziness, but overall I think Beane and McDermott will make good choices. We won't know why and it will bug the crap out of us...but they will have reasons for the moves. BTW, Milano will be a good test case--smallish with great speed and instincts. Injury prone the older he gets. In year three, do you offer a reasonable 4 year extension or do you let him go? I also think Bargaining Brandon is not going to let assets leave without at least assessing their trade value before time runs out. Long answer -- but I hope it makes sense.

All excellent points. It could have been Yanni or something.... -

And I thought we had a chance to win a Super Bowl with this kid at QB. This alone pours cold water on any embers of hope I had. Its ***** hard being a Bills fan. Hopes consistently dashed before they can be realized. I am on the start Barkley bandwagon now. -
One more important aspect is that our puck handling in our own zone is also less than impressive. Just lots of minor things that make the difference between an undisciplined lower tier team and a playoff team. I really do believe the Sabres have the talent to be a playoff team. They just don’t take care of business.

Our partial seasons in Carolina are right behind the goal where the Sabres shoot twice ...but the one period where the Sabres goalie has been in front of us was pretty educational. A relatively smallish rookie #1 draft choice was the guy most willing to mix it up last year. 6'3" Zach Bogosian was less than impressive.....

This is a good signing...particularly for a young team. Mature leader with good work ethic. I am in NYC for the the 4th. Had a Bills shirt on yesterday walking around Times Square. Got at least 20 "Go Bills", which is not surprising...but what was surprising is that a couple of Pats fans, including one at John's Pizzeria last night, stopped to say they are "worried about the Bills dethroning the Pats" this year. Both were big Josh Allen fans.

Jeremy SchaapVerified account @JeremySchaap In a text to my colleague @RussDinallo, who produced our E:60 story on Jared Lorenzen, Lorenzen's mother Janet confirmed that Jared died today. He was only 38. Janet said, "I lost my sweet boy today after a long hard fight." Sad. Could never defeat his health and diet issues....There was always something mystical about a beer league guy playing QB in D1 and the Pros. A big personality. RIP... Pro football talk hates Buffalo - CBA and stadium funding

Thanks BNIH....I am about where you are...its also location dependent. I am outside the 30's in the lower bowl -- would probably be okay with $5K per seat maybe even a little more. I think we will find out what "Season Ticket Holder Investment" is required to make this a go in the next few months when we have a plan from the Pegulas and their consultants. -

Just curious, but a related question, how much of a PSL fee would the season ticket holders on the board be willing to pay? How much of a PSL fee will the WNY market support? Just doing some math...a $5,000 per seat PSL fee for 50000 seats generates $250M in upfront cash. Remember a PSL is a right to buy seasons -- the season fee is in addition. Is that enough of a "local contribution" to match the Pegula contribution; the NFL financing and a State of NY contribution? The $5000 per seat is really low compared to other markets....I know its one of the questions on the stadium survey and I believe that the board likely represents a higher economic status than the average of the fan base, but I am just interested. I am sure the "Internet Content Should be Free" crowd will weigh in at "0" PSL fee (just kidding guys and gals) ? -
I would love that, but I never thought about it as a possibility. Even a year with him on the team would have immeasurable benefit in my view. However, I don't think he would see the Sabres as a mature enough squad to contend and I speculate that he either wants to be in Carolina or play for the Cup. Williams is pretty embedded here in Raleigh. I think its like a Kyle Williams thing but add that he lives here full-time and his wife is a teacher with a job she loves. I think if he plays next year, its in Carolina. He is still the hardest worker on the squad in Carolina (next to Brind'Amour who is in the weight room every day by about 5:30 AM). He is always in position to do damage. Still has the skills to play on all the specials. Yea, he's lost some juice but man I admire the guy's skills.

The Sabres are banking on improvement of their young core -- Dahlin, Casey, Jack, Sam, Olofsson, Cozens and adding "locked up for the long term" 26 and under players to that core--Miller (26); Vesey (26); Montour (25) ...its not that hard to see the plan. This is not necessarily a win now strategy but if these young players have "above average" progression this is a team built for the long-haul. Skinner (27 but under contract for the rest of his peak years) now has to lead. He has never been in that position before but I think he can do it. He has to be the vocal guy with Jack and they both have to be directing the team the same way. Ralph is better positioned to make this happen than the previous two coaching regimes. He can take a young team and get more out of them and hold them accountable--particularly those relied upon to lead. I am not brimming with confidence by any stretch of the imagination -- but I do see a plan and splashy moves are not part of the plan....splashy moves are locking up the young core for the long term. Last year at this time, I thought the Canes would be dog****...Aho and Slavin both take a huge step; Williams leads as only Williams can; Mrazek plays lights out and its a conference finals team. The Canes team didn't gel until February....the Sabres have the talent to take this kind of quick step.

It will be a true defining moment for the Canes near term future. I agree Shrader -- Dundon could let him walk. We are 11 game partial seasons holders...but we have them to see opponents -- 2 Sabres; 2 Capitals; and then a mixture of Flyers, Rangers, Oilers, Bruins, etc. If Dundon lets Aho walk, I feel sorry for the new Canes fans that were birthed with this past playoff run.
