Free Agency begins on March 3rd....a lot can happen between now and then. Is a perceived lame duck coach more or less unstable than new coach with a 4 or 5 year deal? I wouldn't assume that the Bills will be viewed as chaos on March 3rd..we were just viewed as losers on January 1st...by January 13 there is chaos by March 3rd there might be hope...

And you know that world changing podiums are very rare... I think Ralph should look in the closet for the mid-60's AFL championship podium and re-employ it...hope they didn't throw it away when they moved to Orchard Park... The podium is probably old enough to know its limitations and young enough to exceed them or some other bull sh-- cliche...

I am currently watching an infomercial about the Patriot Podium-Bruschi Edition...it comes with a floating halo and attached angel wings...

Its about time the podium took a stand.

Official Statement from Mike Mularkey...holy cow, who wrote this for him.... Did we have a coach who couldn't spell cat if you spotted him the c and the t... Statement from Mike Mularkey Buffalobills.com 01/13/2006 10:09 AM First, I would like to thank Mr. Wilson and Tom Donahoe for the initial opportunity they gave me to be the Head Football Coach of the Buffalo Bills. However, due to circumstances, I can no longer be able to continue as the head coach. I did not reach this decision lightly, but after much thought I have concluded that for my own personal reasons and in the best interests of my family, on balance, outweigh any future benefits that may accrue to me by continuing in this position. Again, I would like to thank the organization for this opportunity, and the Buffalo Bills fans for their support these last two years, and I wish the organization well and much success in the years to come. Thank you. Mike Mularkey

Jerry S: Do you honestly believe that this franchise is on a path to success? It seems in disarray... Ralph: Jerry--your questions drive me crazy..but at least you know the answer to the boxers vs. briefs question for me....I love not wearing any pants.. Dave--you nailed it here....I am expecting Joe Collier and Stew Barber to be at the front of the room today...

Oh my God..... Thanks Hudella--that's hysterical

How can this NOT be a good thing?

This is definitely a valid perspective GG..Slightly different take from me. I don't think the perspective around the league will be that Ralphy pulled the rug out from under Donahoe. Even with the throwaway 3-13 season, Donahoe was still 28-36 in 4 years. 5 years total is hardly a rug pull. The Mularkey situation specifically is disconcerting as you point out. But everyone in the league and on heaven and earth knows that MM entered 2006 on a very short leash. When you combine this with the assistant coach salary situation, there is no way an A List assistant is going to take a chance on going down on that ship. Even with a two year guarantee--no coach is going to accept a job on this staff due to the tenuous position of the head coach and the low salary..both those things existed whether MM stayed on or not. His resignation doesn't impact that in my opinion. MM basically had until the bye week next year to prove himself...he evaluated that heavily the last week and said I can't win given these factors-- Two things will show that Ralph is serious about winning and still has a human side..First, does he bump the pay of the coach he hires..we need to pay someone in the range of $2 Million a year to give the person enough room to hire assistants at good rates. I leave it to Marv, Modrak and Ralph to find the right man..but give him the financial structure to succeed. Second--if Ralph takes care of MM in severance--that will be a good peace sign to all coaches--giving MM a season's bridge would do wonders for Ralph's rep in this area. Despite the doom and gloom -- there is talent on this team...and cap room...4 prime draft picks...the NFL is reputation league but its also a money league..we may have to overpay for a couple of Free Agents this offseason to gain the "Great place to play" rep back--but that is easy to do. To those that think Ralph doesn't have the money...how many people do you know that invested $25K in 1960 and have an asset worth $450M today...he's got money...does he want to spend it is the question...his buddy Marv will convince him to spend.... -
