I just listened to Mike Sherman's media interview conducted Friday with the Saints media after his interview. Sherman Interview And read his Packers bio.. Mike Sherman Bio This guy got a raw deal in getting dismissed in Green Bay....I think Ted Thompson the GM was trying to save his own arse... Peace Frog, this is a good poll...if Ralph is willing to spend the money, these are the two guys on which I would focus.. Haslett because of his passion for Buffalo and the difficulty of judging anyone's ability on a Tom Benson owned circus... Sherman just because I think he is a hell of a coach. The only flaws are this year (but a ton of injuries) and that his teams start slow...his teams have done well in the division, on the road and against other winning teams. His background, family and body of experience make him a great fit for the Bills..dare I say it--his background and outlook are a lot like Marv's without the Harvard graduate degree. I think the two of them would work exceedingly well together... I don't think Sherman is that enthused about the NO job. Sean Payton sounded much more into it (interview is linked at the Saints site)...

Mort and Lenny sent it to Marv..that way they can write that Marv is just stealing TD's road map to success--thus again building TD's legend..
-
Panthers just exceeded their point total from this year's first game against the Bears in SOLDIER FIELD... One game note...this is Rex Grossman's eighth career NFL start...a career with significant injury time

Mort on Countdown (reading between the lines)

Mort, Lenny, Nerd Boy--all depend on sources...TD has to be in the league for them to have one of their most reliable inside sources. They are going to spend time building up the story that the situation in Buffalo was awful so that it removes some of the public stigma of failure from TD and he ends up with a new job. Just read this week's tip sheet from Lenny P--he pretty much prints TD's resume and lays out a "Will work for jock smell" case for hiring TD... We are going to have to live with this until TD is gainfully employed. So, how much truth is there to the "Bills organization sucks" argument--I don't know--according to Ralph he is a dream owner that doesn't mess with the details and will do whatever it takes to build a winner...I am willing to take him at his word--but we'll see now that he is back in charge. The next 120 days lays the groundwork for the next 5 years...I think I'll assess it at the beginning of May and see where we are... -
I will always view the Pats in a "Greg Marmalade" kind of light. Just the team that I love to hate and wish every bad thing upon..sorry JSP...but I have felt that way since the "Just give it to them" call. I viewed last night like the homecoming parade. Everyone that had delivered in the clutch for so many years had a hand in the loss -- Brady, Vinateri, Brown, the vaunted D all had a breakdown or two... It may be immature--but I embrace my immaturity.... and YES I do respect the fact that they have won 3 of 4; I do think they will be back because they have a genius coach with a great organization...but I don't have to like it....
-
You are probably correct--they don't even have a first rounder--it was part of the Bailey/Portis deal.
-
I think they cut Springs-- Mad--its probably a huge cap hit--but that never bothered Snyder..Clements is a player that Williams covets...Springs' deal with the Skins included a $10.25M SB--its 6 years...I think they could only amoritize 5 of it since he signed in 2004 (Clumpy will correct me)--they would eat just over $6 M--
-
Hasselbeck has matured nicely. Jim Zorn has done a nice job with him. Dilfer helped a lot as well. Washington does not have a first round pick--that may deter the pursuit--but you know Gregg will want to...how about Cornelius Griffin and Jon Jansen for Clements (hee hee)...I just woke up
-
Defense looking a little shakier now... I believe that Gregg will come hard after Mr. Nate Clements during the offseason.....even with Springs and Rogers in the fold....

PTR--it may be sappy and sentimental, but I somewhat agree with you. Buffalo is unique in culture and outlook...its just a quirky and wonderful place. Many of us on this board have lived a ton of places (7 for me and my crew including--Miami, Minneapolis, DC, Atlanta, Orlando, Houston, now Raleigh)--there is no place that is more loyal to and passionate about a franchise with the possible exception of Green Bay. A person who begins the greatest job in the community (Coach of the Bills) with this understanding goes a long way toward respect with the fans... But I also look at it another way...outsiders have been accepted--Saban, Knox, Levy were all outsiders -- so was Polian..but they all had enthusiasm and a plan the fans bought into--they all had some bad years but their teams played hard and they made progress..they were all teachers and they were brutually honest...so more than commitment to community--I think the traits Marv outlined yesterday-- 1) Ability to delegate and manage 2) Teach 3) Honesty are pretty good traits on which to focus... This is beloved Marv's first major decision--anyone want to argue that he won't do much better than TD's two choices....I sure wouldn't want to make that case.... -
He is GM material--sounds like he is willing to do some recruiting...which is really good news...Anything about his rehab??? Thanks for reporting....

Asking to be traded back to the Bengals.....(Just !@#$ing kidding -- okay)
-
Do you really think he is above blame...come on--I know you are smarter than that....

He had.. 1) Supportive ownership in both expansion franchises 2) The most favorable college draft, expansion draft and free agency set up for an expansion franchise in NFL history 3) He had attractive cities to attract free agents including one with no state income tax.. 4) He had one winning and one playoff season in 8 years...he keeps living off of bringing the Panthers to the brink of the Super Bowl his second year..but he has proven that a 6 or 7 win season is his average... No thanks....he is the epitome of the Peter Principle--good DC, but 8 years as a head coach and his teams deteriorate the longer he stays... No Thanks...not even an interview...
-
....and they still put the guy on network television....Jimmy should have finished the job...
-
I noticed the last press conference that Bin Laden's ears were getting bigger...he came off a little "old time comedy", dare I say vaudevillianesque..
-
Life just wasn't worth living. Took the sails right out of his wind...
-
What do you mean?--If deceased, he could be the perfect fit...he's definitely adept at avoiding the blitz..4 and a half years is pretty good..
