That was actually my second choice MRW

My prediction if this thread was what I thought when I opened it... Donahoe, 2nd round, technical knockout. Ralph's downfall starts when he tries to hit TD with a tennis racket, slips and falls on the ice and breaks a hip. Donahoe then, in a symbolic move, takes a wireline phone handset and bashes Ralph in the noggin while screaming--"don't call me ever again you big eared little bastard"..

Caldwell was okay at Wake..but this is a reach...Jim Grobe, the current Wake Forest Football coach, is one hell of a coach.... We have to remember, Marv is still learning this process and he is still learning about the current team. Getting these different opinions on the O, the D, Special Teams and how to right the ship are probably beneficial. I just hope it doesn't cost us the candidate they really want.

"Dick Jauron is just aweful... AWFUL"

None for me... -
Fred Jackson, RB -- Marv's alma mater--Coe College...Marv influnencing the process already...probably working 20 hour days....wooo hooo..

Looked pretty stylish too.. GQ material with the reading glasses in the buttons look.. Joe in a headset

If this is true you can pen in Sage Rosenfels as the Dolphins starter...mother!@#$er...

I loved his one yard and a cloud of dust offense...

I agree wholeheartedly Dave..but there really is no competition now...the Raiders are going to do something strange, that is a given. The Rams are going with Linehan..we are last up..take advantage of that position..add a day to the process and get a couple more good unemployed coaches who can fill position or coordinator roles excited about the organizations. I posted this a couple of days ago about Capers--I am not a fan...but now there is no competition--no reason not to bring him in... +----------+--------------+----------+ | 1995 car | 7 9 0 | 0 0 | | 1996 car | 12 4 0 | 1 1 | | 1997 car | 7 9 0 | 0 0 | | 1998 car | 4 12 0 | 0 0 | | 2002 hou | 4 12 0 | 0 0 | | 2003 hou | 5 11 0 | 0 0 | | 2004 hou | 7 9 0 | 0 0 | | 2005 hou | 2 14 0 | 0 0 | +----------+--------------+----------+ | TOTALS | 48 80 0 | 1 1 | Above is his record.. He had.. 1) Supportive ownership in both expansion franchises 2) The most favorable college draft, expansion draft and free agency set up for an expansion franchise in NFL history 3) He had attractive cities to attract free agents including one with no state income tax.. 4) He had one winning and one playoff season in 8 years...he keeps living off of bringing the Panthers to the brink of the Super Bowl his second year..but he has proven that a 6 or 7 win season is his average... No thanks....he is the epitome of the Peter Principle--good DC, but 8 years as a head coach and his teams deteriorate the longer he stays... No Thanks...not even an interview...

I don't mind them interviewing 6 to 8 candidates. I don't think Capers has a shot but he is a solid Defensive coach and if this gets him excited about Buffalo and the chance to work with TKO, Fletch, Milloy, Schobel, McGee, Vincent...can't be all bad...same with Henderson since he is now unemployed. I think Haslett's sins of the past--especially implying Hull used roids--killed any chance he had to coach the Bills...

Would You Accept Dick Jauron As Bills HC?
JoeF replied to BillsGuyInMalta's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I honestly don't think we can make a bad choice here. Most "experts" who talk about Jauron say things like "Smartest coach I have ever met" "Raw deal in Chicago because Angelo wanted his own person from the beginning" I think the combination of Sherman and Bates beats what Jauron brings to the table--I also think that Sherman's GM experience could be invaluable as an assist to Marv as he learns the details of the job....but either way--I think we are much better off than a lame duck Mularkey and maybe the 2006 season is not so much of a throw away. -
Bills asked permission to speak with Lofton
JoeF replied to Hawerchuk10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Interesting thought. A lot of folks in GB said Sherman's greatest liability was his Offensive Coordinator Tom Rossley (who also had heart trouble earlier in the year). Maybe part of the deal is bringing a new OC... I remember how Lofton worked to make himself a master technician and route runner transforming from just a speed guy...he was a great player...for the Pack and for us...I would love to see him back with the Bills in some capacity. -

Lofton is also in the Raiders mix.... -
Glad to see Willis' head is back in the game...

Hey Rubes--did Opus find what he is looking for yet???? Your caption could read--here to help Marv and Ralph find their inner selves and maybe even a qualified coach.. Two of lifes greatest tragedies for me...when Berkeley Breathed retired from doing the strip and then when he came back--its went downhill...
-
If the Bills hire Sherman--I think Bates, Jauron or Haslett would all be DC candidates....personal preference is Bates just because of the recent time in Miami...
-
Dog -- i am curious what led to this Jerry Maguire like soliloquy...was it all the inane airport threads or the deep inside source threads or a combo....Timing is essential is humor--the first is funny--the 100th--not so much...

Cam Cameron from SD was the other candidate for the Rams. Cameron and Bates are very close friends. This may mean Bates' fate rests with Sherman. It would be great to get a two for one deal with an experienced coach and a highly respected DC. Bates also knows this division very well...another plus.

You are cool as the other side of the pillow Dog...

Mike Sherman spotted at Buffalo Airport
JoeF replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks for the insights Ghosts. This team as a whole was poorly conditioned last year. That's inexcusable for a pro athlete in an anaerobically and aerobically demanding sport. One of the Bills' huge competitive advantages in the past was that they were better conditioned, less apt to be injured, less apt to wilt late in a game...it was sad. -

No guff...Glad he didn't have to take a whiz or a crap..GR would have been there to report....I guess this redefines NFL Total Access -
From the Article: Payton won out after strong recommendations from close coaching cronies inside the division, Carolina's John Fox and Tampa Bay's Jon Gruden, as well as from many others throughout the NFL. He was offered the Raiders' coaching job two years ago but turned it down. Note to Marv: Please do not call Belichick and Saban and ask whom to hire....Yikes...

There is a certain creation of skepticism (interpreted as hatred) when you use phrases like "Deep within" "Deep Inside Sources".....Gives it a whole "Robert Hanssen" like image...Its only football....if someone is going to be angry with you if you reveal their identity---don't post it... By your screen name -- I know you know what happens to stool pigeons in the mob....they get hated big time...

JoeF is a great guy... Glad to hear his prognosis is better...Its cool that all his living teammates contacted him. The 1500 or so e-mails from Bills fans were special to him..he has mentioned them a lot on his website and now in the interview.
