Yep ---their spiral is short of death though....our spiral is well below 6 feet under...
-
I seem to remember that a playoff loss to the Jags at home was the beginning of what has become death spiral drop for another team...can't recall that team....
-
Mark--I am waiting for someone to point out that Marv is Jewish and if my hypothesis is true, it means we should all brush up on the Old Testament...
-
The technical difficulties are because the true deified being, Marv Levy, is back in the NFL. This proves that Bruschi is the anti-deity--now on his way down...its like Palm Saturday, the devil has been rejected.

I didn't see any more details on this one Simon..but a couple of pure speculations..it surprised me it was the Panthers game because I thought that was one of Clements' better games..he held Steve Smith to 3 catches for 55 yards...and no TD's--Secondary I thought played really well as a whole that day. It was the week after the secondary had well--lets just say--a woefully inadequate game in San Diego (wearing gasoline soaked underwear to an inferno party)...so one could surmise a couple of things: 1) After the SD game Gray took game day secondary calls away from Szabo and Szabo got pissed at being shut out 2) Szabo hated the overall scheme, made some tweaks on his own that week, and then put it in Gray's face when they worked... Either way it puts the dys in dysfunctional...the only reason I would tend to lean toward scenario #1 is that Gray is a former all pro D-Back...

Maybe it was because he was a caustic old fool who didn't know how to coach the athletes he had. Here is an excerpt from a December 24 Buffalo News Article... ... Defensive coordinator Jerry Gray and secondary coach Steve Szabo were involved in a heated argument in the coaches' box during the Carolina game that fell well beyond the normal in-game heated discussion.... Not that arguing with Gray is a bad thing...but there is a time and a place....

I think we should start one of these Samara...

We wouldn't need a main board if we divided out the myopic..

What will be the first decision Levy has to make
JoeF replied to billsboys's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He had me at..."Two things happen when you get old. Memory loss and I can't remember the other one." If Sam Wyche stays on --they might be able to take the act on the road... -
Haslett as D Coordinator??? Don't count on it
JoeF replied to SouthernMan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Haslett during his Bills career was often reported to be high and he definitely was a character...I think you are probably right DML.... -
16 Years ago today....Damn you Harmon
JoeF replied to Thailog80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes--but it was a high charachter 0.0...I know--he was drafted before Marv took over--but he lasted 3 years after that.. -

1/5 of Marv's life ago....I would bet Harmon had some action on the game... -

Dear Mr. Advice Dispenser (AD).... I am an octogenarian who has just been rehired for a full time job (something other than a greeter at Wal Mart) by another octogenarian. The hearts and minds of millions of retard rollercoaster riders are hanging on my every action...what should I do first? I was thinking of going with the firmer version of Poligrip--but that seemed a little shallow. I was thinking of talking to one of my key employees but he keeps talking about the sails in his wind...what do you suggest??? Baffled in Buffalo...

The guy has a real passion for college sports...I could see him fit as a Div 1-AA AD like IUP where he went to school or a lesser Div I school in the region. He is well off financially and should do something he enjoys. I think the last 5 years really wore on him...there were moments of fun -- first half of '02; last half of '04--but mostly criticism and drudgery...his instinct will be to try and prove that this failure was a fluke--but I think that's the wrong direction.

This board has become disgusting with the age
JoeF replied to Fan in San Diego's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I view this completely different..both the age and the Marv competency issue. There are several ways to be an effective leader..but two main ones. One is either a doer--excellent at performance and is a display to others or one is an aggregator excellent at making all the pieces fit together to make a winning team. I am not sure Marv has ever been the lead executor, the game planner, the individual game strategy maker--he has always been a great visionary and an aggregator--a person who sets the parameters of the overall vision and then gets the most out of those around him as they work toward that goal. He does this by creating a teamwork culture where risk taking, lauding of great performance, high characther, constructive feedback, open communication are all embraced. He is the ultimate manager, delegator, cheerleader and overall visionary -- but the details are left to others with Marv's oversight and final approval. I am confident he will succeed in this role if Modrak is truly into his role and motivated and if Mularkey has learned from this year. I think Marv will make both of them better. I have no fear about Marv's age being a deterrent here...I have much trepidation about Modrak and Mularkey being able to perform their execution roles under Marv's leadership. As an aside--I think Donahoe tried to be everything to everybody--lead executor and lead aggregator--sometimes it works but it takes a very special personality. Most times those who are excellent executors have little tolerance or paitience to lead others who they always view as somewhat less competent...and treat them that way.. -

Just heard this from a mystery shopper in the Bills Store at OBD Marv is really pissed at SDS....He feels Scott is the leader of the "Marv is a fraud" contingent.. Says he wants to challenge the bastard to a gumming contest..... I'll let you know if I hear any more...
-
Oh my God! Donahoe's back in Western PA and he's holding Simon and family hostage. Someone local call the SWAT Team....TD must be packing serious heat otherwise Simon would have already overpowered the gutless whimpy creep.
-
Bills were more like the mush mouth offense this year...in fact for the entire Donahoe era...

Kelly--a bit off topic---but you should sue Jerry Sullivan...he wrote today's column based on your initial post....Either that or you should demand a wider audience...We're not worthy...
