The Minnesota Vikings for Pat Williams, Jonas Jennings (acquired in a trade with San Fran), Antoine Winfield and a lake boat cruise vessel to be named later...brilliant...Ralph reunites the band without paying the signing bonuses...

V-coach - Bills sign Crowell to extension

I am sticking with the same 24-0 (win the preseason scrimmage) I went with this year.... -
V-coach - Bills sign Crowell to extension

First thing I thought of..second thought was that Modrak is already in charge.. -
Johnny, totally off topic question...did your handle used to be Spiked Lemonade?? I see a great similarity in style and wit...Spiked was banned partly because he went on a jihad like crusade against Drew Blesdsoe long after he had well established his opinion about #11..but I sincerely enjoyed his posts and viewpoints...

True...I was trying to figure out if Keith Richards and Tom Donahoe were the same person...Tom is Keith is drag????

This thread has now been soiled upon...an insult to us Dwight Adams fans. Johnny posts like his hair is on fire. AD posts like Tarzan but has the content of Jane..... Mark VI has great measurables but questionable intangibles....

While no announcements are pending...are you aware of any "recent" calls being made from a certain 87 year old owner to a former VP of Player Personnel seeking advice? Of course only share what you are at liberty to .......
-
I have it on good authority its one of the following: Option 1 Option 2 Option 3 Option 4 or Ed Kilgore.... or SDS.... but probably a combination of AD and CTM.... Really--a cab driver told me....

Yep........maybe we should resign him...I didn't know he was so versatile... Here was a little article insert after this weekend's "41-0, give up 8 sacks" loss to the Steelers... There was Steelers nose tackle Casey Hampton blowing up a play when he pushed backup center Mike Pucillo five yards back into Frye, forcing a fumble.

The chaos thing is a great point Rich...we need to overspend and recruit heavily...TKO, Fletch, Milloy, Vincent--if they really want this team to turn around--these vets have to push for it...its their team more than MM or TD or whomever is in these roles--every losing team has attitude issues that are under the media microscope because there is nothing else to cover..unfortunately The Bills issues have been with two veteran leaders which has to hurt...but Bentley coming from the chaos of NO may be the guy...
-
Hutch has played exclusively G (Hutch) They call this a week year for FA lineman--yet you have two young all pros on the market on the interior
-
This is one where I would be okay with spending more than market value...maybe as much as 5-10% more on a 5 or 6 year contract to secure either one...they are both durable (Sans a broken leg for Hutch in '02) Bentley is a year younger...if we franchise Clements --get he and Fletcher (our Cleveland contingent) to do the recruiting....

I think our problems on the interior OL can be solved with one of these two guys. I would prefer Bentley just because I think it will be easier to sign him. He wants to play close to his NE Ohio home...The Browns will be tough competition for him--but they invested a lot in their OL last year with Andruzzi, Coleman plus they will have to spend to retain LJ Shelton and they seem impressed with him...Right now MIKE PUCILLO is the starting center for the Brownies so they have a need == Jeff Faine is out for the year after starting the first 14 games (torn bicep) and his history of injuries could cause them to look at Bentley... So my moves would be: 1) Sign Bentley-- 2) Don't resign Teague or sign him cheap (2years - 2.5 Million range)and make him the swing back-up Tackle 3) cut Mike Williams-- 4) draft an OT high--but realize that Rookie OT's rarely play, so give this draftee a year to develop and then replace Gandy in 2007. 5) Keep Gandy and Peters at T (extend Peters this year when he is an EFA) 6) Let Preston and Anderson compete at LG, 7) get one more year out of Chris V at RG... what we sacrifice is another year of keeping the TE into block on most passing plays--which really limits the Offense...but buying a veteran anchor will shore up this line quickly...I have seen us get crushed again on the interior this year too many times...our percentage of first downs on third and short has to be abysmal...

I don't know about that CTM...I heard the Kilgore's had retatta for Festivus....

A quote from the WIVB article on the home page. Column is called the Williams Way.... I know Losman has a shoulder injury and has not been able to fully practice. That is just smoke and mirrors, because there is no other starting quarterback in the league who would not start when listed as probable on the injury report. Losman’s injury is irrelevant to who is starting. Every time Mularkey has had a convenient way to pull the plug on Losman and insert Holcomb, he has found a way to do it, and it usually “sparks” the team. ________________________________________________________ I guess the guy who writes the Williams Way is a soothsaying ortho because he is able judge JP's injury from just looking at it with no examination. I don't know how you define conspiracy theorist, but this qualifies for me....Maybe he should work on Oliver Stone's next movie...

We even have the WNY media offering up conspiracy theories tonight..this is a joke right? Okay, here's mine... It all started on or around January 10th, 2001---Tom Donahoe was sitting in his new office the first week of work and logged on to TSW and TBD. He said "these !@#$s are nuts and I am going to spend the next 5 years !@#$ing them every way I can. I am going to screw up both lines. I am going to bring in an immobile QB. I am going to hire two rookie head coaches in 5 years, etc, etc. etc." "To top it all off, I am going to get this senile old fart owner to extend me a couple of years and then really screw up in year 5 so I can ease into retirement. I can then go to work answering questions on ESPN.com from the same numbskulls fans I !@#$ed over in Buffalo." "Happy New Year you little Bills fan bastards." There it is --- my theory....its our fault...

No flame from me KoK...the Tressel family is renowned around NE Ohio..father Lee Tressl was a legendary coach at the Division 3 level at Baldwin Wallace and is in the College Football Hall of fame (Lee Tressel). Older brother Dick is now on the OSU staff but was also a fine Division 3 football coach in St. Paul at Hamline.. I got to know Dick and his wife Connie some when we lived in the Twin Cities in the early 90's...Looks like their sons have continued the Tressel football tradition (Dick Tressel Bio)

Me....for obvious reasons...Merry Christmas Jack....the kids are gathering...all in our bed.... -
Oh man--you temptress....I am hoping for a late Christmas present...

Welcome back Babe...I miss your dad's eye for talent and great wit something fierce...Is he tanned, rested and ready???...it would be a great move...Marv for GM, Dwight VP of personnel...instead of grumpy old men we would have genius old men... You warned us about the type of organization we would have under TD and none of us wanted to listen...hindsight is 20-20 now.
-
This is unanswerable until FA starts--but if we offer a 5 or 6 year contract--what coach is guaranteed for that long anyway....I don't mind spending $500K more a year than other offers to get the right guy if thats what it takes..money especially up front money, cures a lot of ills--and we have it to spend. Merry Christmas JSP. Don't be depressed because we won...8 in row over the Bungles..no matter what they are to everyone else they are still the Bungles to the Bills. This one was for TKO and Wyche...

I haven't seen the rule where it is ever a bad thing to beat a playoff team with something to play for (home field in the first round) on the road when you have had a horrible season. No matter how much roster turnover we have this off season--45 of these guys will still be the same.. Who wants a top 5 choice?....half of them fail and you end up with a huge cap hit....let's use the money on LeCharles Bentley or Steve Hutchinson...
-
Our special teams are going to be good for the next 5 years...that puts me in a happy place..Parrish did a really good job on punts today as well.....both these guys are different players when they have the rock...its awesome to see...

Ron Wolfe to Buffalo rumours re-surfacing...
JoeF replied to Buftex's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
9 year GM of the Packers--when they were good. Retired at 62 in 2001...didn't leave because he couldn't get along with a jet jaw coach who spit a lot....his biggest talent win--seeing the talent in Brett Favruh when he was sitting the bench in Atlanta... -
Ron Wolfe to Buffalo rumours re-surfacing...

I know this keeps popping up..but the guy is 67 years old...he probably has zero interest in the business side of the game. So PFW is envisioning something like this: Ralph agrees to grant the Wolfs (Ron and Eliot) the right to help transition the franchise to the next ownership group...Bob Rich, Jeremy Jacobs, Tom G., Bass Pro Shops whomever over the next three years and grants Wolf about 5% of the team (that's $25 million on a $500M franchise). The new owner would be smart to continue to take on the Wolfs as a minority partner and let them run the team--Wolf runs the football side and Brandon takes on a SVP Sales, Marketing and Facilities role (Tim Russert would be a cool minority partner as well). Not sure I buy it..Wolf has been pretty convincing in his statements regarding being retired for good.
