  1. Would be happy to retain Gaines or sign Butler. Butler probably has some motivation to face his former team.
  2. Would be awesome if true.
  3. Seems like a lot of money all things considered but if there are no guarantees it's good they secured him in case he's still got it. Will be a fun narrative having Sherman face Russell twice a year.
  4. Wowowow what a return!
  5. Nicely done, OBD!
  6. I truly had no idea they held 4th quarter leads in NINE of their games. That is crazy.
  7. Good call. As others have said, this is the prudent choice.
  8. DiMarco had a down year last year. I believe he is a better player than his 2017 season showed, but I also think we could save some money and get a different guy in there to play FB if we are going to utilize that position.
  9. Would be a killer tandem and a good transition plan with Shady aging.
  10. Ragland got a 4th. Shaq could probably fetch a 4th too.
  11. Thanks Sal! I really don't buy it. Shady seems all in here.
  12. But he just wrote that piece for the players tribune!
  13. I like him, but I expect the team to retain O'Leary and Thomas.
  14. Wonder how much he would command vs. Gaines. Gaines was excellent last year but Davis has also been elite in stretches of his career.
  15. Yup. At that point he's not a defenseless receiver. He's running against the grain and looking up field and that's his own fault.
  16. We aren't going to stop hearing from the media about how center is a top priority. It isn't. Groy should slide in just fine. I hope we don't waste a 1st on a center.
  17. I'm with you. Frankly there isn't another free agent out there that I'm more comfortable replacing him with and I don't want to spend another day one pick on a CB. When you consider the value we're getting with the other starting DBs I'm OK with giving Gaines a market value contract. And I think Ross Cockrell might be a good back up we can bring back on the cheap. He's a solid zone corner that didn't fit Rex's D.
  18. I get what you mean. I think when it's all said and done Gonzalez is still #1, but I think there is no question that in his time in the league no other TE has been as dominant in all facets of the game. Having Brady helps, but the offensive gameplanning changed a lot when they added Gronk to the roster too.
  19. The numbers don't do Gronk justice, largely in part to injuries. I don't think any tight end in his time has been as dominant a force both as a pass catcher and blocker. Jimmy Graham and Gates have been solid pass catchers, but they do not block (especially Graham). A couple quick stats: Gronk has more touchdowns than Witten and Shannon Sharpe and he's played for fewer years than those guys. He's averaging 15.1 yards per reception, which is comparable to Randy Moss and Julio Jones. When you consider how many redzone targets he gets, that only makes his YPC number even more impressive.
  20. Congrats to Frank! Think it's a good hire and I think the Colts will be happy McDaniels got cold feet.
  21. Thank you for sharing. The cap has gone up much quicker than I realized. I still don't think that paying your QB top dollar is the way to win championships (and the numbers across past SB champs agree), but it is important that we know Alex Smith is not valued any higher than he was 4 years ago.
  22. I really like Jackson as a prospect. These breakdowns from Crist and Cover 1 make him look exceptional. I do agree with GunnerBill that he needs to add a little weight though. Hope his stock does not soar over the next few months so we have a chance to snag him in the 20s. If we are drafting a QB, I'd rather get a stud DT and Jackson than trade both to go up and get Darnold or Rosen - who may cost more than just the two firsts anyway.
  23. Perhaps it's been mentioned by another poster somewhere here or in the Byrd thread, but let's not forget McD's specialty is DB. he played it, he coached it and his defenses seem to get the most out of their DBs. Not to say Byrd didn't do a good job here, but I think McDermott is the key for our DBs to continue performing on last year's level.
