It is possible that Hughes is part of a package we offered the Giants and they are mulling whether or not they would rather have him and the picks or Chubb? Still, the more I look at the draft, if the Giants don't want a QB at 2 (big if), it is fairly possible that a QB falls to 12, with many of the teams ahead of us set at the position. If not 12, we could trade up to maybe 6 or 7 and get someone. I'd like to keep Hughes and have a good rotation of pass rushers.

It's pretty clear at this point that trading up for him was a mistake. If we had the 4th overall to begin with and we took Sammy - even considering we'd have taken him before Mack - I would not call it a fail because Sammy was seen as a once-in-a-generation type prospect at the WR position. But the fact that we traded up and lost our next year's first to do it makes it a fail, because he was not the game breaker we were expecting.

Hard to call it 40% when Dawkins played much of the year. Also, I believe in Groy as, at minimum, a placeholder at center.

Yeah, as well they should. They have Tre locked up for 5 years at a good price, Vontae on a one-year deal. Would be wise to get one more good CB signed for a few years.
