  1. The only quarterback I want in this draft is Geno Smith. He has a unique skill set that you could build an offense around especially if you are innovative and adapt schemes to players strengths. Add his dynamic skillset to CJ Spiller in the backfield and you could have a dangerous offense. What people on here seem to underestimate as well are leadership characteristics in a QB. I believe Geno Smith possesses great leadership qualities. He has a great positive attitude. He can handle the media with class, dignity and confidence. He also has a slight "edge" to him that guys would follow. I think all the other QBs will basically be like Tannehills, Ponders; just mediocre guys who will never be a franchise quarterback. The problem is I feel strongly the Eagles will take him at #4. They have Vick to be the veteran to groom Smith for one year or maybe even just a half year. Chip Kelly's offense largely depends on a mobile quarterback and I think they will take Geno Smith as their QB of the future. I either hope we get lucky and they don't take him or Buddy Nix has the sack to trade up in front of them.
  2. I really want Geno Smith so I hope McShay is right. Him as QB and Spiller as our running back = extremely dynamic offense. Then Pettine gets the defense in good shape. We could have a good squad. Of course, this is quite the optimistic viewpoint.
  3. No reason we can't sign Byrd and Levitre both with this cap carryover and the high cap number at 121 million in 2013. Get it done Buddy otherwise you are not living up to your mantra; draft and develop and then keep your own.
  4. No he isn't. He doesn't have good intangibles. He is not the strong articulate leader you need leading your franchise in today's NFL. When I see him speak at press conferences, he is timid and not well spoken; not exactly the kind of guy people rally around. Also, I do not attest to watching a ton of his games but when I did watch him, I was never too blown away with his play. I don't want him. I don't care what any scout says. If they think he's an elite prospect then they can't see the forest for the trees. Buddy will not draft him. Mark my words. He's not a leader.
  5. http://espn.go.com/boston/nfl/story/_/id/8864245/2013-nfl-playoffs-terrell-suggs-baltimore-ravens-tells-arrogant-new-england-patriots-enjoy-pro-bowl I wouldn't have started a topic on this or even come to the forum if this part wasn't in it: "The bad blood between Suggs and Tom Brady, in particular, dates back a number of years. In 2010, a season in which Brady was named NFL MVP, Suggs said he voted for Buffalo Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick over Brady for the Pro Bowl. He also called Brady's three Super Bowl titles "questionable" because of the "tuck rule" game in 2001 and the Spygate scandal that surfaced in 2007." Classic.
  6. I want him back. Great returner who has shown for stretches that he can be a pretty good cornerback. At the end of the year he looked decent at CB. He provides depth, has first round physical talents and at the least can contribute strongly on special teams. I'm a strong YES
  7. Haha, very good point. I've got to say if this is true, his plan is working as I am already becoming somewhat hopeful. However, I have to say this too. In press conferences he continually repeats that "this is a production business". By that he means, when you win, you get high attendance and more revenue and that couldn't be truer. The greatest business model is putting a winner on the field and no trickery beats that. If he were truly smart, I think he would understand that the best marketing strategy is to build a winning team; not have to fake fans into believing they built a winning team every year. After all, they have been spending money on players so it's not like they are spending no money, pulling the wool over our eyes and trying to trick us into producing high revenues for the club without spending. I think they are legitamately trying to build a winner. Do they have the skill to do that? That's what we'll find out.
  8. I'm really not sure on this one. For the longest time I was a big proponent of the 3-4 defense. However, based on interviews etc., it does seem difficult to get the personell to run that scheme. Buddy and Chan switched to the 4-3 because our personell didn't fit and then they started drafting for the 4-3. They also brought in Mario who does not fit the 3-4 (was used as an outside linebacker in Houston). These happenings would make it take much longer to establish 3-4 prsonell. I would like our base defense to be considered 4-3 at this point but like a lot of defenses it should be a hybrid. You should have some 3-4 packages that you can mix in. We don't have a dominant 340 pound Ngata/Wilfork type for the nose but when we do three down linemen, Kyle WIlliams or Dareus will have to suffice. My vote goes for the 4-3 for the most part but with a hybrid component to run some 3-4 when desired.
  9. I'm quite happy about this hire. I think most defenses are kind of hybrids of 3-4/4-3 these days so hopefully there is not an overhaul of scheme. My initial reaction to this hire is positive. I'm not sure about his OC hire, but hopefully Marrone's offensive accumen can help guide that side. My only concern is Pettine was uner Rex Ryan so, I don't know who to credit for their defense but I am excited. I also just read that the defensive backs coach is coming with him from the Jets. This is the guy who had Revis and Cromartie under his tutelage. Let's see if he can work some magic on Aaron Williams, Stephon Gilmore, Brooks and McKelvin (I want us to resign him).
  10. What concernes me is that he had 4 seasons in college; two of which were losing seasons. I know he was turning a program around, but one of those losing seasons was his third year. I think a fair interpreatation to this is he was not even an elite college coach. Another thing that concerns me is he was't even calling plays in New orleans when he was there. In other words, he was the Curtis Modkins of the New Orleans Saints. Giving him credit for their offense (Sean Payton was really running it) would be similar to giving Curtis Modkins credit for Chan Gailey's offensive tenure. I'm also concerned with with his NFL clout in being able to compile an elite staff. With those reservations, I am encouraged that he was in the mix for most NFL jobs. People must be looking at him for a reason, however, it is not a very apparent one to fans from afar. I am also encouraged that he has the endorsement of Parcells and Payton however, I don't know how much stock to put in that. I'm not sure Parcells could turn most teams around today. I have my doubts, but then again, when Atlanta hired Mike Smith it seemed like the worst hire ever. Only time will tell and I hope he turns out to be a good one.
  11. I would be very pleased if we got Chip Kelly. However, I think it is a real long shot. If I am not mistaken, him and Bellichek are friends who share coaching philosophy. Chip will have a number of opportunities and entering into a division with the Pats who have absolutely dominated the Bills and stunted their growth for more than a decade is highly unlikely.
  12. You're all idiots for not having Ryan Fitzpatrick #1. Thiggy is a close #2. Those 2 make up the elite class.
  13. Haha, I wish I could honestly say I was referring to the Bud Light commercials but I wasn't. In regards to OBD, I think we should all stick it to them with our wallets. No season tickets and no merchandise until there is a winner. Still watch anyway ya can to remain a true fan but do not give them any money.
  14. We are 13 years into a playoff drought. The product that has been put on the field in that span has been hard to watch and endure. I salute every person on this forum for sticking it out. There is no doubt that everyone on here is a true fan. Keep the faith. Billieve. One day we'll have a winner.
  15. The critical media and cynical fanbase was a sidenote of my post. Do you believe there is such a thing as inherent "losers" or "winners".
  16. I have never been a fan of how the media portrays people as either "winners" or "losers". For example, Tom Brady is just a "winner". He just is; end of conversation. It has nothing to do with having a system that fits his skill set and that he has Bill Bellichek as coach. He just has a winner's mentality and he was destine to be a champion (according to ESPN, the media). At the same time, they used to put the tag on Peyton Manning as a "loser". He couldn't perform in big games. It was like he just wasn't destine to be a champion. Though he won one, some would still argue he does not perform well in big moments. I used to throw this away as garbage. I felt it was the media generating stories and defining people's identites falsely. However, I am beginning to give it some credence. Are there teams/coaches/players who just inherently are losers? Are there people who subconsciously or something find ways to lose? I know this seems crazy but I am beginning to believe it. This Bills team and other factors are beginning to convince me of this. And unfortunately, I am a fan of a franchise/team/coaches/players who are all stricken with this condition. It is as though, subconsciously, the team thinks they deserve to lose and it finds a way to make that happen, one way or another. They consistently find ways to lose games; very creative ways. Chan tried to change some of this culture to get the players to "expect to win". I think that can help but it might even go deeper than that. Unfortunately, this franchise/team's collective consciousness is that of a loser. I am becoming a believer in this way of thinking. I would also like to point out that I think a very negative media and cynical fanbase can contribute to this perpetuating. This "loser consciousness" will be tough to get rid of for the Buffalo Bills. Until this deep seeded mentality is gone, they will crumble because they do not think they deserve to win or that they should win.
  17. While I am not going to get as low as most on Chan, this game was severely mismanaged.
  18. Eric Wood tweeted this: https://twitter.com/EWood70/status/277466187280027651/photo/1 I wish Wood could stay healthy. He is definitely a huge part of why that unit has been successful.
  19. Good points. Spencer Johnson and Carrington at linebacker was beyond any realm of reasonable. I guess that might speak to how well our roster fit the 3-4; meaning it didn't at all.
  20. Wow, the guy gets 3 sacks and you still find a way to complain about him. As I made a thread stating a few weeks ago, Mario will be a very good player for the Bills. Sunday was great evidence of that. Keep 'em coming Mario! Ignore the idiotic Buffalo fans who are hating on you.
  21. All great points made here. I felt the same way in each of the mentioned situations. It's truly baffling that individuals with such poor decision making and common sense can rise to such prominent positions, like head coach of an NFL franchise.
  22. Are you kidding me? You think this is ok? I was at the game and saw Spiller on the jumbotron smiling ear to ear like a kid who just got a puppy on Christmas. If it doesn't hurt to lose, then that is a serious problem. Clearly, some of the Bills players couldn't care less. This team has character problems. It's official.
