  1. That's a very fine instinct. If you learn about something via an unsolicited email, chances are it is bull...
  2. Quinton Ganther. You make an excellent point, but I'm guessing they took Ganther because he has a decent amount of NFL experience. And as much as we like to bash the coaches for not recognizing the talent of rookies and undrafted free agents, most coaches put quite a bit of stock in experience...particularity if that experience is decent. I liked Bell quite a bit in preseason, though I remember he didn't do much in the last game or two. Perhaps he wasn't skilled at picking up the blitz, running proper routes, etc.
  3. I'm certainly not the biggest Lou Reed fan in the world, but I have a lot of respect for him. Never sold out. That's a big deal to me.
  4. Typically, yes. But it does no good in this case. It also does no good in this case: http://www.snopes.com/medical/homecure/honey.asp Seriously, how hard is it to discredit this claim? "It is found that a mixture of Honey and Cinnamon cures most of the diseases."
  5. As usual, the best post game synopsis by far. Well done, Richy Rich.
  6. Of course there is a well reviews play on Broadway about Vince: http://www.lombardibroadway.com/ They say that much of what many believe about Lombardi simply isn't true. He wasn't a tyrant and actually cared very much for his players. I have heard he regrets saying "Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing", or at least regrets how many have interpreted it.
  7. Looks like it's real. When I lived on Twin Peaks in San Francisco (I lived on the east side/city side of the hill), we would get fog moving in from the west/ocean. I swear it looked like the fog was being poured in to the valley from a pitcher. It came in so fast, and with such velocity, that it seemed to splash upward from the bottom, as if being poured. It was a fantastic sight.
  8. I kind of think Madonna is an OK "entertainer" but a terrible musician/singer. You have to admit she is a terrific marketer, which is really why she is/was popular. C'mon. Dylan doing Christmas Polka? That's genius.
  9. Quite the crowd at that game.
  10. Excellent point! But I would argue that good, or perhaps great songwriters aren't limited to writing songs solely from their point of view, or relating only to their personal experience. Of course, George Michael is neither a good nor a great songwriter.
  11. Are you saying you don't know what a girl looks like?
  12. I am going to be singing that song all day today, wherever I go. I have a feeling I will be very popular today.
  13. Actually, from what I can see, there is nothing explicit about a homosexual relationship in Last Christmas. And the video clearly has heterosexual acting couples in it. But since GM wrote it, the gay reference can be inferred. But that can be done for most songs that don't explicitly mention a boy and a girl, and then even some of them. We'll agree the song sucks, though. But it is at least as much a Christmas song as many great songs associated with this time of year: Let It Snow, Winter Wonderland, Jingle Bells, etc.
  14. Again, among Bills fans there is no contest. Stratton's hit actually meant something to the Bills. But the Stratton hit is simply not discussed in the national media. As far as I can tell, the Bills' AFL history has been forgotten by the national media. And the Montana situation simply isn't relevant. He wasn't riding the longest QB starting streak of all time and had been knocked out of games before.
  15. This. Prepare to be herded! You're doing a great thing, Bart and hopefully you will be rewarded.
  16. You think the Giants would be willing to trade Sage Rosencrantz?
  17. You answered your own question! The longest starting streak by an NFL QB is now ended. Like it or not, that will probably be discussed more in the media than any previous Bills hit. I agree it isn't very significant from the Bills' point of view. But the national media seems to care very little about the AFL days of the Buffalo Bills and quite a bit about Brett Favre's streak. Moats will get his 15 minutes of fame for the hit, but will still be remembered whenever the streak is discussed, which unfortunately will be far more often than the Bills fate in 1964. And he'll be the answer to an oft-asked trivia question.
  18. It's horrible. And I think Paul is beyond shame, these days.
  19. Funny. When she mentioned that to me the other night, I thought she was joking.
  20. Imagine certainly had it's share of schlock, but it had a purer soul than most of McCartney's pop garbage. Still, I wasn't the biggest fan of Lennon solo, either. Of all the Beatles I think George's solo stuff stands up the best. But this is one of those situations where the whole was way better than the sum of the parts.
  21. He's the master of variation:
