  1. Easley can't go to the PS...Kauffmann can.
  2. It's because the play new England in week 1 and make them have to prep for all QBs.
  3. 50/50 shot Sinkfield is on the PS if he isnt picked up now. He is the type of player that needs the PS. He has the raw skills and the speed of a receiver but it will take him longer to transition to the pro game. It takes alot to cut a 3rd round for the year before---TJ hasnt done enough to warrant getting cut. You could argue he wasnt used properly last year. Also receiver are not one of the positions a rookie can easily transition to being a starter in their rookie year. for most it usually takes until their 2nd or 3rd season.
  4. If I am understanding your post.....im assuming any starters who are free agents after the year are signed---a lost free agent affects draft needs and a signed free agent from another team that fills a need decreased the draft need. QB--P7 still see them picking one in the 6th or 7th next year RB/FB--P2 I see them drafting a RB in the 2nd-4th next year given Jackson's age WR--If everything pans out---P4---they will draft one somewhere in the draft TE--potentially P2---I see them focusing on a TE with a 1st-4th round pick OT--P3 G- P3 C--P8 im assuming a 4-3 DE-P6 DT-P9 ILB-P6 OLB P2 CB P2 S P4 In the first round I see them taking the best available player Their biggest needs next years 1st-4th round picks would be: RB (not a 1st round pick), TE, OL (G or T **), OLB, and shut down CB. ***if the best player is an OT then they could just move Glenn to Guard.
  5. There is a way to keep 7 WRs on the roster--- they dont keep a FB--one of then is signed to the PS The breakdown I see on the team: QB 3 RB 3 FB 0/1 WR 7 TE 3 OL 9/8 Offense: 25 K/P/LS: 3 DEF: 25 DL 8 LB 7 DB 10
  6. teams will if they are in the bottom part of the waiver wire. Seattle is a team loaded at CB that some of these players are going to get cut...jacksonville is in desperate need of a CBs so they will likely claim anything Seattle cuts so a team later on in the waiver wire who knows they need some CB depth likely looks to do a deal with Seattle for one of these players. Its possible that team is in the same situation but a different position that Seattle needs so they just swap players.
  7. Any team can take a PS player from another team ---but he has to be placed on their 53 man roster--- without any compensation...teams will pluck players from other teams practice squads. There is a rule to prevent a team specifically plucking a player from a teams PS whom they play in an upcoming game only to get inside information on their play calling/strategy
  8. unspecified injury with Easley in 2011 was an issue was with a heart condition that hasnt been made public. Easley was out in 2010 due to a knee injury. In 2012 he wasnt played much so he could be get on to the PS which was done then he was activated in November from it.
  9. i said in the other thread---I think he is doing this in part to screw with New England and have them guess who will be the QB and thus being forced to be prepared for both.
  10. In all honesty the idea of the up-temp offense doesnt need to to be done and leave 20 seconds on the playclock unless a ssituation warrants it like the defense is trying to do a substitute so you snap the ball with 12 men on the field or when it appears the defense is unsure of their assignments. One thing the K-gun did as did the offense in cincinati around that time was to line up right away thus preventing Defense targeted substitutes. Instead of rushing the play i see them telling Kolb or EJ to burn much of the play clock before snapping the ball....also dont be too predictable on when you snap the ball because the defense will look to time this.
  11. NO----that is incorrect. The teams based on draft order is also waiver wire claim order. Before Buffalo can put him on the PS he MUST CLEAR WAIVERS. Any team can claim him and there is nothing Buffalo could do to stop it. the worst team gets to claim the player before a better team. for example Jacksonville sucks at CBs so they will be looking to pluck a few that will get cut from those teams that have a lot of depth. Once he has cleared waivers he can sign to any PS he wants. Once on a teams PS any team can pluck a player from another teams PS to their 53 without any compensation.
  12. In setting up a team they will set up the top 46 players (starter and back up at each position + K and P---some positions may not have back up and others have 2 ). From there they have 7 slots......3 for offense, 3 for Defense, and 1 for special teams. These 7 will likely go to the best talent potential there vs can they make the practice squad.
  13. Jasper wasnt believed to be a 2nd round talent who fell through the draft because of off the field issues. If a team cuts a 2nd round pick teams will notice those players and take flyers on them through waiver claims. It is true that teams do use their first cut down time to 75 to potentially hide very raw talent because teams may pass on the cut down to 75 players and ignore than more so than the cut down of players to 53. I could see Kauffman (and a few others) getting cut after next weeks game with the plan of putting him on the PS
  14. He gets cut he is not a free agent until he clears league wide waivers which is based on draft order. Its likely he gets claimed. there is little risk given his contract.
  15. there is a legal difference. for example if you have a swimming pool without a fence you have far more liability if a kid goes into your pool and drowns than if you have a fence up around the pool. Same thing here...there is a potential legal liability. If they have a fence up and someone sees it they will walk around to avoid it instead of taking a short cut. http://www.wgrz.com/news/article/223336/37/Bills-Cut-Access-At-Popular-Shortcut-To-Stadium-
  16. NFL network showed the drive by EJ in its entirety. the full game airs tomorrow morning. i want to see EJ do what he did against a #1 defense. the stat line is buffered by playing against 2nd and 3rd level players.
  17. This was done with Easley last year. He didnt play much and wasnt thrown to when he played. Was cut and put on the PS. Rogers was one of the top 5 undrafted players to be signed by a team so many teams are familiar with him. He wont clear waivers to get on the PS. a team will take a shot and claim him. He is low 1st round/mid 2nd round talent.
  18. Your quoting stat lines without taking into account who the QB was playing against. the first 5 possessions the teams are playing against starters and some mix of starters and backups. EJs stat line in terms of YPA was worse during that period. As for Kolb having more experience---his last game action was against Buffalo in early October so its been 10 months for him. I watched the first game...yesterday's I listened to it online and saw some action that NFLN showed.
  19. The Rams-bills deal was just about to the T in terms of a draft pick value chart. Rams are closer to the playoffs than buffalo is as of now. their missing piece was the speed receiver that Austin is. They accumilated aboatload of extra picks in the RG3 trade with Washington. As for the other deal....it had more to do with different systems and team depth. With buffalo picking another ILB in the draft Sheppard was expendable. in indy hughes was viewed as expendable. Success in this league is so much based on systems and players who fit the systems they are playing in.
  20. You have to remember EJ is still young and he didnt light up the colts starters. I would be more comfortable if Buffalo wasnt playing New England to open the season. You dont want to sacrifice such an important game to a season because you have a rookie starting. Kolb started last year at NE and won which should not be ignored. Need to compare apples to apples----both teams were WC teams last year so their defense are close comparisons EJs first 5 possessions against IND: 1-2 -6 0-0 fumble on the handoff charged to EJ 2-5 25 ran 24 produced a FG 1-2 7 2-3 13 produced a FG (off a turnover in IND territory) total: 6-12 39 ran for 24 caused a turnover Kolb first 5 possessions against MIN: 0-1 0-1 threw an INT 1-2 10 ran for 7 0-2 7-8 49 FG total: 8-14 59 ran for 7 caused a turnover EJs total numbers are better because he played against the 2nd and 3rd stringers from mid 2nd-3rd quarter in both games. What I could see them doing instead next week is give both QBs a chance to play with the first unit. This is the fairest way I think you could evaluate their performance. What matters most isn't practice,... but how a game is handled. The way to do that is alternate the QB over the first 8-10 possessions. I wouldn't be surprised if the team doesnt announce who the starting QB is thus forcing New England to plan for both. I wouldn't be surprised they name Kolb the starting QB just for that game, but still plan on putting EJ in there either on a new series of downs or on new possessions. Sort of like a Woodley/Strock situation in Miami.
  21. The deal was an OLB/DE for an ILB---with buffalo drafting an ILB they felt he was expendable and Hughes was stuck behind depth after Indy switched to a 3-4 system under their new coach last year. different perspective on this: . http://forums.colts.com/topic/17941-colts-have-traded-jerry-hughes-for-bills-lb-kelvin-sheppard/
  22. TJ has decent size and the speed you need. Buffalo keeps him given its his 2nd year. If he was a Whaley guy he is staying on this team. I look at Goodwin as being more of a returner this year than a WR. WR is a position that does take some time to learn outside of doing go routes. I have never doubted Easley. He earned the starting job before the heart condition. then last year he was kept hidden in the preseason so he could get on the PS.. Easley does have decent size and some speed (not goodwin speed). SJ will not get cut. Rogers.....he is one they will want to keep because his overall upside he could be great. I dont think he will get on the PS because if he is cut someone will claim him. Kaufmann--likely PS
  23. What do you think will happen at QB? I think they give both EJ and Kolb 3-4 series---alternating series so each player get to play with 1st stringers, 2nd stringers, and some 3rd stringers. Tuel plays the rest of the game--likely from mid 3rd quarter on. Also with the game---NFL Network should be airing the game in its entirely live since its the only game on in that slot.
  24. Tuel...gamecast thinks Kolb is still playing...thus skewing his stats right now.
