Rd 6, Pick 180 (1): Punter Matt Araiza, San Diego State
K D replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
So your argument is that the punt wasn't blocked but it went 27 yards, because it was kinda blocked? When he catches the ball he is stepping up 3 yards before the ball even gets to him. Now watch an NFL punter. Some don't go 3 yards throughout the entire motion. Instead of making excuses for him we need to be realistic that he is a punting newbie with a strong leg and a lot to still work on -

Giants prepared to release CB Bradberry (now released)
K D replied to billsbackto81's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills really like Dane Jackson and see him as starting material. So they see a roster with 4 starters at CB (White, Elam, Jackson, Taron Johnson) and they have Siran Neal on special teams. They only have like $5 mil in cap space and they said they like to keep a little space in case they need to add someone and if they are lucky they can carry that over to next year. I don't think they will try to add an expensive veteran at this time unless he takes a serious 1 year prove it discount just to play on a super bowl team and raise his value. -

I've been reading up on this guy and in punting circles they see him as a super raw prospect. He is actually a soccer player turned kicker turned punter, so he has not been punting for very long at all and is still learning the position. He has been working with a coach in preparation for the draft. In addition to learning how to hold, he needs to work on his drop, not taking up to 10 yards to get a running start or he will get it blocked (which he has multiple times), his accuracy and bounce with the nose of the football, and his hang time which is almost non-existent (line drives). He's basically Happy Gilmore'ing it and knocking the crap out of the football with no regard where it's going and then sprinting down the field to help make the tackle to keep his net yard average high (which was highest in nation and higher than anyone in the NFL). It would be the equivalent of drafting a QB who can throw it 80+ yards but isn't very accurate and we've seen how those guys turn out 🤔😄 -
Tannehill is lucky to have made it this far and he should be grateful and willing to do whatever the team asks of him. He was a bust of a QB, got a 2nd chance with a team that was like we know you can't throw so we will just run the ball and maybe you can complete some play action off of that, and now being "just a guy" on a good team he was able to parlay that into a big contract. Now he has $100+ million and he and his kids' kids' kids' kids will never have to work a day in their lives. What's the difference if he loses his starting job this year or next year or 5 years from now? He's not very good but now he's very rich so who cares? If he was smart he would be the best mentor on the planet and maybe he can hang around as a backup for a while and keep raking in the $

Jerry being Jerry reveals top of draft board
K D replied to CorkScrewHill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Maybe the Bills had Elam over McDuffie (they would certainly want you to believe that now at this point) but they definitely had McDuffie as a 1st rounder too based on how he phrased it. Beane said after KC traded up to take McDuffie there was only 1 player left on their board with a 1st round grade (Elam). So from that you can also ascertain that they did not have Gordon or Booth or any other player picked after them graded as 1st round talent, including the Packers pick before them or the Cowboys pick after them who they jumped in the trade up -

So they had a 1st round grade on Cine at S but passed him up for a OL they had listed as a 2nd rounder? Jeruhhhhh! The CB ranking is interesting. They had McDuffie super low (probably due to size) and Gordon higher than him and Elam (probably again due to size). Sounds like the Bills had McDuffie as a 1st rounder because they said as soon as he went they only had 1 guy left (Elam). So the Bills had Gordon as a 2nd rounder. Beane said after Elam they had some guys that were close together (Gordon, Booth, ?). -
I'm not down with killing babies but if you try and outlaw abortions people will just go to other states, countries, use coat hangers, etc. It's not something you can affectively mandate. Do we really want sh*tty people who are poor and on drugs and can't even take care of themselves to be forced to carry a child and then care for them? It's a terrible situation either way. As a compromise how about everyone who gets an abortion, their name is made public and people can do with that what they will. A little shaming may go a long way. If you go for a job or meet a love interest etc they can look and see you have had multiple abortions and they might change their opinion of you. Even people that are for the right to choose aren't going to be cool with that kind of info

people who said better might be overestimating Von Miller's impact as a 33 year-old rotational pass rusher. if he's on the field he is probably getting double-teamed just like Hughes was. the pass rush will need to come from the middle or the other side. I voted PUSH and I would take the under on 10 sacks for Von Miller

Bills have both Hamlin and Johnson that they like. Poyer is in a contract year so he better ball out if he wants the $, whether he gets it from Buffalo or another team
-
Are we sure he was pumping himself up with testosterone and not estrogen?
-
that's what i'm saying, why didn't anyone use a 7th on a potential 1st round talent? by not doing so they are letting him choose one of the better teams. i don't understand the "he's off our draft board" if he ends up signing with someone anyhow. there's no way X player drafted in the 7th is better than this guy
-
This one makes me sick. Nobody wanted to take a flyer on him in the 7th round? The NFL is really going to let the Chiefs keep loading up on talent? They got Skyy Moore and Justyn Ross for pennies on the dollar. Either one could end up being the steal of the draft
-
No I expect that many Breece Hall fans based on 100 pages about a player we didn't draft
-
He should embrace it. When was the last time it was cool to be a punter? By the time Mcafee got popular he retired and went into media. I wouldn't put PUNT GOD on the back of the jersey a la HE HATE ME but I would definitely have some fun with it. YouTube channel, merch (I saw some stuff on Etsy already), could parlay the fame into commercials etc. People are excited that we have the "Punt God" on our team
-
Based on this thread about half of the stadium will be cheering for Breece Hall when the Jets come to town. Over/under Hall with 100 yards total offense. Who is taking the over?
-
Surprised to see Punt God so low. That seemed like a fan favorite. Maybe it's just the cool nickname but if he can boot the ball like they say he can and can learn how to hold then we might have our punter for the next decade

Who was your favorite Bills pick from the 2022 NFL draft?

Which is stronger, Josh Allen's arm or Matt Araiza's leg ?

Only 1 way to find out... -
Jets and Dolphins got better but until they change the guy under center, who cares? Pats got worse and I don't know what their plan is. Belichick makes his team worse and everyone thinks he's a genius he probably has an amazing plan and this is all part of it. Or maybe he doesn't have a QB and he doesn't know what to do like every other NFL team lol
-
Punt God was someone I was really hoping they would get so I'm very happy to get him in the 6th. I thought it would have taken a 3rd or 4th! I liked CB in the first even though that wasn't who I thought, I liked the Cook pick although I thought we could get him in round 3. Wish we would have grabbed someone super fast like Calvin Austin. Overall I'd say it was a good draft. I'd give it a B+ but it takes 2-3 years to know for sure.

This thread could have been about a lot of things. I'm glad this is where it went. Knox probably does really well with Josh Allen as his wing man. "One of my best friends is Josh Allen" will seal the deal every time

Of the serious SB Contenders who had the best draft?
K D replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
KC got a haul, but does it make up for losing their best player? Maybe not year 1 but if they are able to figure out how to match their offensive output then they will come out ahead by filling a lot of their holes. Ravens got some nice picks but who the heck are they going to throw to? I don't even know what WR they have at this point. Lamar does not seem happy. Does he even want to re-sign there? No contract talks seems really bizarre. Bills filled a lot of needs this year but what about next year when they need to sign all of their TE's, Edmunds, Poyer, Gabe, OG. Way more needs next year. Probably should have traded one of those later round picks for a pick next year if they weren't sold on anyone. Still need a 3rd option at outside WR. If Stef or Gabe aren't 100% who comes in? Kumerow? Need a better option than that. Sanders wasn't the best but gave the room good leadership too. A savvy vet like that would be good -
Bills have 2 backup safeties on the roster they like already. I don't think it's a need, especially this late in the draft
