  6. Some sources report that it was the city’s proud citizens themselves who first proclaimed their magnificent home “The Queen City” or the “Queen of the West.” Long before marketing slogans and organized chambers of commerce, the residents themselves decided their grand and glorious city was regal. By 1826, co-authors Benjamin Drake and Edward Mansfield referred to city as the “Queen of the West” in their book, Cincinnati. Then in 1854, poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow penned "Catawba Wine," which memorialized Cincinnati’s vineyards. In the last stanza of his poem, he refers to Cincinnati as the “Queen of the West.” In the years following, the Queen City was given many other monikers. As Cincinnati became famous as a pork packing center in the mid 1800s, it was often called “Porkopolis.” It had surpassed both Dublin and Belfast as the world’s primary pork packing centers and was chief supplier of salt pork to the British Navy. During the same time period, residents still boasting their pride also referred to their Queen City as “the London of America.” When music, arts, a university and professional baseball entered the city’s complexion in the 1870s, the Queen City was also known as “the Paris of America.” Found info here
  7. Wrong guy fired. But, the wrong guy (Childress) was one those that went down to MS and recruited the guy that should have been fired (Favre). Then again, the guy that backs up Brett (Jackson) may not be that good anyway.
  8. Welcome to the club!!
  9. I had the game on my car radio all afternoon while doing a few chores and enjoying a nice weather day in central Ohio. Play by play man Murphy said it right that it is about winning games, not getting draft positioning. Darn near shed a few tears when I heard that. Then, the battery in my car was dead to the bone when I went to drive it into the garage. Might have been the most expensive game I ever listened to. JOB WELL DONE BOYS!! Keep working hard.
  10. Second that suggestion.
  11. What I like about Fitzy is that he does not take himself seriously. Looks like he wants the guys around him to succeed more than he does.

  14. Spun - To answer your question about how this was going to get repaired, there was some suggestion that the ship might have to go to dry dock. The thing that is just getting at me is how these people think they have been through the most traumatic event of all time. COME ON MAN!! Not eating or eating lightly for a few days might be of help to a fair number of those passengers.
  15. That just made my skin crawl.
  16. As a rule of thumb, I always change the rotors with the pads. The caliper (where the pads are attached) is off the rotor and that just pulls off like a LP from a turntable. Wait. Does anyone under 25 know what turntables are? If they are pads for drum brakes - - look for help. Don't forget to have a large C clamp on hand to re-open the caliper.
  17. What is he being honored for?
  18. You might want to document your "idea" or invention and have it notorized. You can do some patent searches on line through Google or through the patent office.
