Dareus traded to Jacksonville!
What a Tuel replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
$10 million against the cap in 2017. $14 million against the cap in 2018. With the caveat that the Jags take the rest of the contract. -

Yes we do. What do you think that dead money cap hit is? So again while we don't have to pay his base salary, we are still paying for Dareus iao $24 million over two years. True savings will take place in 2019 when we aren't paying Ghost Dareus anything. Edit: I see where you a making a distinction between actually paying him and what not. I am speaking in terms of the Bills salary cap. Yes they already cut the check to him when he signed. -

I am really tired of this misleading people that we are "saving" money. The Bills pay Dareus's salary. Dareus leaves. The Bills have to still pay a portion of Dareus's salary, but no Dareus. The portion of what people are calling "savings" is the difference between what we *were* paying him, and what we *still* have to pay him. So to sum it up, we are in fact spending millions on nothing but being glad we didn't spend a bit more on Dareus. -

Trust me I know. I was referring to the large number of people on this board looking at the box score and writing Sammy off as bad. -

Not to mention if Sammy Watkins is doing nothing for the Rams as so many people love to say then what is Jordan Matthews doing for the Bills? -

Would you rather pay Dareus $15 million, or no one $10 million? -

Addition by subtraction? I mean, this question is asking if we are better Dareus or without him. Some people would have you believe that he was such a detractor from the plan that this will "help" the team, but I don't buy that. I mean McDermott and Beane clearly want him out, but this trade does not help us in 2017 one bit. -

My understanding is that those cap "savings" are simply the difference between the dead cap and what we would have paid him. We are still paying $10 in 2017 and $14 in 2018 million for nobody, as opposed to paying his normal salaries in 2017 and 2018 plus the signing bonus that would've been spread over the term of his contract if we kept him. -

Ok. That's what I thought it was. So in reality our claimed "savings" are simply that we aren't paying him. But we still have $10 million on the books this year for him. And $14 million on the books next year for him. Those don't go away because we traded him. So its safe to say we are paying $10 million in 2017, and $14 million in 2018 for a player not on the team. The benefit of that is that we don't have to pay the rest of his salary, but the difference between the "dead cap" and his regular salary shouldn't be called "savings". -

Is that a cap rule? Its odd to me that part of his original contract would be offset by a different part of his original contract. -

✔ @spotrac Dareus leaves dead cap hits of $10.66M & $14.2M to the #Bills in 2017/2018 while saving $5.7M/$2.3M respectively. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/jacksonville-jaguars/marcell-dareus-7718/ … 7:36 PM - Oct 27, 2017 But we are still paying $10.66 and $14.2 million for no player. "Saving" is a bit misleading in this regard, unless someone wants to clarify. -
I really hope I'm not watching Chip Kelly part 2..
What a Tuel replied to Bronxbomber21's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They moved up in the draft by trading players so I guess you could say they kind of did. They didn't stockpile picks or anything though. -

I don't believe that is true. ^ No. 2: Cleveland → Philadelphia (PD). Cleveland traded this selection (2nd) and a conditional fifth-round selection in 2017 (this selection would be upgraded to a compensatory fourth-round selection if the Browns receive one in 2017) to Philadelphia in exchange for Philadelphia's first-round, third-round, and fourth-round selections in this years draft (8th, 77th, and 100th) as well as Philadelphia's first-round selection in the 2017 NFL Draft and second-round selection in the 2018 NFL Draft.[source 2] -

I wouldn't go by his stats this year. The coaches were grooming him to be traded, and limiting his play. -

$10 million Dead cap in 2017, $14 million Dead cap in 2018. We really couldn't have done better than a 6th? -

Do they still do ads after you pay? -
Man, Ice Bowl 67 has been nothing but nice and wishing the Bills luck over the years. Lately they have just been harassed and treated like a troll. I wonder what happened in the not too distant past that could be responsible for that. Chill out people. Sometimes your wallowing in self pity don't have to be the "best around". "you've got nothing on our sucking!" Give me a break.

Hauschka - Were His Kicks Record Setting?
What a Tuel replied to Hedge's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seattles line is awful on kicks. IIRC a few of those were blocked. -
To me it is still a dumb trade. We may not make the playoffs not because EJ Gaines is out but because our offense is so inept.
-
If the Rams aren't going to use him (and they clearly aren't with 20 targets over 5 games) why did they trade for him? They gave away EJ Gaines and a 2nd round pick for a guy they aren't going to throw the ball to, and will be gone next year. Unless they franchise tag him, but then why bother? Maybe we really can resign him in 2018 Really could've used him this year though. I mean people joke about decoy all they want, but he is double teamed a lot, so the argument that he isn't good or isn't respected by defenses is silly.

Sammy Watkins complaining about targets again
What a Tuel replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Watkins had 2 solid years and 1 injured year. I am not sure what you mean? I don't need to defend him, he was great for us when he played. What's hilarious is you guys attacking him for 4 years because of an extra draft pick that wasn't his fault. Its interesting how "Watkins is average or isn't good" but these guys ignore the respect defenses give him. -

I saw the score of this game at work last night, and it was like 3-2 at the half or something, and I had to double check I was looking at football -
