  1. No doubt she was brainwashed. Then again she could have easily come to the same conclusion by living her life by the same standards as Mohammed. A religion is as good/bad as the founder, and Mohammed was a bad guy. Sure, he was 'peaceful' at first, but as he went on and consolidated power, he became much more violent and less tolerant of those who disagreed with him. He had people murdered, beheaded, and showed contempt and disrespect to other religious beliefs, most notably Jews and Hindus. I don't know how his actions can be seperated from the religion he created.
  2. I'm afraid to click - is someone about to get Rick Rolled?
  3. Sounds about right. CJ can poke fun at the weather all he wants, but the real problem in the community is its inability to lure new business. Evey politico in the system will try to get their piece of the pie until there isn't any pie left, and the potential employer says 'Fck thi' and opts to do business somewhere else. It's reminiscent of the Simpsons episode where Hollywood came to Springfield to film and they were getting fleeced by the townspeople at every opportunity.
  4. Maybe he is tired of going to these meetings, expressing his opinion, being call an idiot, old coot, etc. only to be vindicated a year later.
  5. I just tricked my wife into calling the Buffalo Zoo and asking for "Mr. Lyon". I sold it quite well, but they are onto the gag and just have a recording answering the phone today.
  6. Blasphemer. Also: Dane Cook is not very funny.
  7. I'm willing to bet these are paid actors and not 'real' contestants.
  8. I know nothing happened (otherwise the link would say 'MS-13 Gangs assualts motorist on West side'), but the 'warning' is still active, and that is pretty significant news when the police warn everyone to be on the lookout for people who are trying to kill you. Personally, I think the popo are perpetuating an urban legend.
  9. The Buffalo Police department issued warnings regarding the possibility that the notorious gang MS-13 is going to be randomly assaulting/killing people for some initiation rite. http://www.buffalonews.com/258/story/309083.html Is this for real, or is it more urban legend nonsense? It would seem to me that an organization like that would prefer to keep as low a profile as possible and keep the killings limited to those who crossed them.
  10. A country group called Big and Rich sings a song called "Comin to your town" with the following lyrics: OH CHIPPEWA IS WHERE WE GO WHEN WE’RE UP IN BUFFALO DON’T YA KNOW THOSE YANKEES DRINK ENOUGH TO DROWN
  11. That's why I bought a house in OP - 2.5 miles from the stadium!
  12. "So I made a mistake. That happens. It shows I'm human, which for some people is a revelation." For me it is. I always thought you were a snake.
  13. This seems like as good of a place if any to bring it up: Are you guys aware that the Reverend Sun Myung Moon owns the Washington Times and UPI?
  14. Understood - I wasn't so much arguing that he did or did not have ties to Al Queda, but was trying to point out that the standard reaction of "Bah - Saddam had no links to teh terrorzzz" is pretty stupid, because he was pretty fkin public about it: http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2002/03/25/1017004766310.html http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,48822,00.html I could dig up more links, but 200 of them wouldn't be enough for some people around here...
  15. How come there is never any mention of Saddam offering 25k (and then upping the ante to 35k) to the families of suicide bombers in Israel? Is that too blatant of an example of being directly connected to terrorism for anyone to even bother brining it up?
  16. Women sometimes find this offensive, but I think it hits the nail on the head: http://www.laddertheory.com/
  17. That's what happens when candidates let their guard down and speak candidly. Rookie mistake for sure, and it shows that prejudice and racial preconceptions are a two-way street. I'm certain there was no malice behind what he said, just a mental slip-up which shows none of us are above that sort of thing.
  18. I fully understand the point he was trying to make, but I hate it wen people use falsehoods to back up their claims. It's the Al Gore example. Yeah, we should be careful how we tread, but don't make sh*t up to prove your point. For starters we didn't 'bomb' Grenada. He makes it seem as though we went into these countries and just started dropping 500lb bombs all wili-nily, which wasn't the case. Also, it wouldn't help his point, so I'm sure that's why he failed to mention that many of the people living in these countries supported US intervention in both cases.
  19. The main problem I have with this guy is how fast and loose he is with the facts. Especially his misrepresentation of the facts regarding Panama, Grenada, and in other sermons, the spread of HIV/AIDS. In fact, given the amount of money the US has thrown at combating AIDS in Africa, that point is especially irritating. Misinformation like that helps the virus take a foothold in Africa where a good number of Priests and Pastors are telling people that not only did whitey create AIDS, but that condoms are the means by which he spreads it. That type of ignorance is unforgivable, especially when this dude obviously is smart enough to know better.
  20. Don't let these guys get you riled up - they like to ignore things like the amount of home your $ will buy and don't mention the STAR exemptions which greatly reduce the amount of taxes you pay on your home. Like the linked article showed quite clearly (with sources and stats as opposed to Brie and wine fueled anti-NY tirades) that it is actually pretty affordable to live in WNY. I won't argue that the taxes aren't too high, or that our job market is weak, but there are economic advantages to living here if you have a decent job or marketable skill set.
  21. He is most likely retiring so that he won't be subject to the soon-to-be law that will prohibit these guys from working with lobbyists for (I think) 6 years after retiring. Just keeping the chance for a money grab alive.
