  1. To this day I still can't make sense of that. I see people do the fist bump all the time, but I don't think I've ever seen a terrorist do any such thing. It made as much sense as showing a video of Obama playing B-Ball and calling out his "terrorist jump shot".
  2. They are pretty good. I also like Blasdell, but my "All-WNY Pizza All-Star" vote has to go to Just Pizza. 3 Cheese & Steak all the way!
  3. Thanks - I guess I have parked there before. I thought the guy running the lot said he had one across the street too. Maybe it was Hammer and he meant his house...
  4. Hammer has several lots right? Which one do you guys meet up at? I'd love to meet some of the gang in person.
  5. I was stranded by my ride at a bachelor party that a few Bills were at. Josh Reed ended up giving my buddy and I a ride downtown and then insisted we come with him and the other players. He was classy all the way.
  6. I'm responding specifically to the two items that I bolded in the quote. First, all of those things you just mentioned basically mean nothing to the community as a whole. The drinks, beds, buffet, etc. are all part of the casino. The bars and restaurants around the casino? They aren't doing so well. The bed tax that the town/city/county might normally see from any other hotel isn't collected on comped rooms (which account for about half of all the people staying at the casino). Food tax? Taxes on clothes or smokes? Nope. The casino has all of the competitive advantages and leaves business owners who are regular, tax paying NYS/American citizens in the dust. And when we talk about jobs, lets not forget that the highest positions in the casino are unavailable to non-natives. Ask any employee of an Indian casino and they will tell you racism and favoritism run rampant and unchecked. I don't have a problem with casino gambling. I do have a problem with the fact that we allow a sovereign nation to engage in a business that the rest of our citizenry is forbidden from reaping the benefits of. As to the second bolded part, my point wasn't to say the Falls were any worse, but you can't say they are any better.
  7. So bring the kids along it's good clean family fun. What have you got to lose if you like the 6 O'Clock news then you'll love...
  8. Again, still would have been illegal. And for those of you who claim this would make Buffalo so much better, have you been to the Falls lately?
  9. You are missing the point. The ruling isn't "gambling bad". It's saying the Seneca's can't just buy land wherever they please, tag it as sovereign, and then ignore state laws. The Indian Gaming Commission ignored law passed by congress and made a decision that was wrong under the letter and the spirit of the law. In other words, the Fed's got this one right.
  10. It might work, you never know. People who are dumb enough to try and hijack a plane might not be smart enough to, you know, take the bracelet off.
  11. I used to like her a lot, but once I found out she was a scientologist, I just wanted eff the thetans out of her.
  12. I care how he votes, and when he had the oppotunity to vote on a bill that would allow the govt. to confiscate weapons in a state of emergency, he voted against it. Unlike my wonderful NY senator who is supposedly a "conservative" Democrat. At any rate, it's a good ruling although I still roll my eyes at how everyone brings up hunting. The constitution makes no mention of it, and it shouldn't be used as a basis for the defense of the 2nd ammendment.
  13. The Islands aren't part of the Adirondack's (they are in the St. Lawrence which is part of the seaway) but I agree - the ADK's are quite nice as well.
  14. We always go to the 1000 Islands for the 4th. I grew up there and I always take a crew up to steal my parents boat for the weekend. You can't beat it considering it's only 3.5 hours from Buffalo, and it's by far the best place to boat in the state, maybe even the country.
  15. Grabbed the leaked tracks this morning, and I gotta say it's pretty good. If you liked the Use Your Illusion albums, I think you will probably enjoy Chinese Democracy. The song styles are very similar, mid-tempo, 5 minute plus stuff. Production wise there is a fair amount of synth/orchestra type fill, but it works well and doesn't seem to overshadow the songs themselves. Axl's voice is still strong and he shows some good range, which was a bit of a surprise. I need to hear all of the tracks and give a second (and probably third) listen before I can discern how I really feel about it, but so far, so good!
  16. Nice, I can finally learn how to plays the riffs in the outro music.
  17. I may have to emulate this. I built a decent one in the basement, but an outdoor one with the palm frond roof would be pretty f'n sweet.
  18. Yeah, but he did so based upon merit, so whether or not you admire his chosen professions, he worked to get where he is, similar to Cosby. And just because idiots like Jackson and Sharpton criticised Cosby and not Obama has nothing to do with Obama, it just shows what hypocrites they are. Also, I wouldn't criticize Obama OR Crosby for their speeches, as they both happen to be right. You'd think it was a message a right-winger could really get behind. You know, black folk takin' responsibility and what not.
  19. I'm sure it is. You wanna know why? Answer.
  20. Saw Maiden in Toronto in March. Killer live show. And yeah, metal fans are generally pretty well behaved.
  21. Consider it done my friend! Seriously though, since I live down the road from Hammer, I may have to have a post home opener pool party for TBD'ers.
  22. You must have missed the part where I talked about how I'm building an outdoor drive-in screen for nighttime multiplayer Risk matches in the pool (although I guess I'll need some plastic baggies for the controllers). Yeah, it's gonna be awesome.
  23. Well, I took the plunge and went with a 16x30 inground composite wall, vinyl lined pool. Full package including loop-loc safety cover, heater, solar cover, install, concrete, self cleaning, alarm, the whole nine yards. I did a lot of research and it seems the vinyl liners last on average about 15 years, and with a replacement cost of about 3k it still seems like a better deal that fiberglass which was about 5k more. I'm really excited and can't wait to get it in. I had them put it in writing that it would be complete by 15 August, the day before my annual summer bash. I'll post some pics and a review of the builder once I'm done, for those of you who are interested.
