The great Oz has spoken. Did you watch the game yesterday? Have you seen what he can do if given a chance?

I remember when some of you guys were bitching and moaning last year that Roscoe was a wasted pick and we should have picked, of all people, Chris Henry. DJ Press Conference 9-18-06

Stay safe.

That was a really exciting play. Being at the game, I did not see the replay. Was there really a penalty on that? It really is too bad, because that was a hell of a run by RP.

I am just telling you what it looked like. Period. -

Sitting in the stands, that play looked like it was supposed to be a screen to WM. -
There is some truth to what you are saying. I also never heard Dolphin fans cheer when one of their players got hurt (as I did at a Bills game). On the whole, I think that most Bills fans are great. Yet, there is a segment that are really no better than the fans of any other team.

It could have been. I remember that it was a night game (maybe I presumed it was a Monday night game). That was a great game. I have had some great times in that stadium when the Bills have won. We actually have a pretty good record in that stadium -- especially compared to the Orange Bowl.

I am still waiting for Peter King's MMQB but he

Good post. Welker was the best Dolphin by far. Everything he does is a positive for them. -
At one point, I looked for him on the sidelines, but I could not find him. He could have been there, but I did not see him. Takeo was there and was really into the game.

That play was one of the key plays in the game. That was a big time play by Whitner to deny the Dolphins two critical points. He has played very, very well.

Perspective from being at the game: A few weeks ago, I made the comment that perhaps the best we can hope for this year with JP is that he does not lose any games for us. That is basically what he did yesterday. For those of you who think that he played a great game, that depends on what your definition of a great game is. (He did not by my definition of a great game). For those of you who think that he was awful, he was not. He was ok. He was unspectacular. He did not make any critical errors -- at least any that counted (the fumble was a fumble but for the ref blowing the whistle). We got a win against our bitter rival in a hostile environment. We won, because of the defense, special teams, and running game. JP did not make any errors to detract from the reasons why we won the game. The throw to Lee Evans that resulted in the pass interference was a strong throw. My favorite throw, however, was the one that he threw incomplete when he recognized the blitz (although Lee failed to cut off his pattern). He read the play, got rid of the ball, and would have had a chance for a big gain but for Lee's failure to recognize the blitz. JP is not Jim Kelly. He also is not Ryan Leaf. The jury is still out, but there is reason for some cautious optimism. The following is what I would like to see JP do in the next few weeks (some of which he already is doing): 1. Make the defense pay when they stack the line of scrimmage to stop the run. 2. Do not fumble the ball or make any ball handling mistakes. 3. Avoid the costly interception. 4. (This applies to the coaching staff as well) Get the play in and get out of the huddle as soon as possible to (a) avoid having to take unnecessary time outs; and (b) to have more time to read the defense before the snap of the ball. In the end, I love the fact that we won the game. I hate going to Bills/Dolphins games and losing. The Dolphin fans love to run their mouths when they beat us. JP did not win the game, but he did not lose it either.

I was at the game. The stadium was nearly full except for some empty seats in the corners. The game was a sell out and was shown on local tv. It was great at the end of the game when the Dolphin fans began to leave. There were some Bills fans, but no as many as in years past. I specifically remember one game on Monday night in the 1990's when we blew them out, the Dolphin fans left, and there were about 25,000 to 30,000 Bills fans left in the stadium. That was a lot of fun. The fourth quarter of that game was like being at Rich/The Ralph.

Ultimately, we are going to have to be able to have some kind of passing threat. The opposing defenses are stacking the line to try and stop our running game. We should be able to take advantage of that sooner or later. So far, we have not been able to make other teams pay for concentrating so heavily on defending against the run. I really hope we can generate more of a passing threat against the Jets.

You are correct about that. I was at the game yesterday. The defensive backs played well. A lot of the sacks we got were because of the coverage.

That was a great game. It certainly was one of the more exciting games in the past 10 years.

It is true, but that is a good thing. We care more about our team than the fans of most teams.

Which team in our division do the Buffalo

Easy. Dolphins. If you have been a Bills fan for any period of time, no explanation is needed. -
You really need to read the posts that I have written on the subject. You seem to be responding to something that I did not say. What I am hoping is not true is that the Bills did not know all of the ramifications of the mini IR designation. PFT makes it sound as though Marv is a bumbling old fool. As I have said, if Marv is one thing, he is smart. I have to believe that they fully understood what they were doing and know all the angles.
-
Although there are some interesting items on PFT now and again, one of the things that I cannot stand is PFT's unrelenting crusade against the Bills, Ralph, and Marv. It seems as though, every chance they get, they try to take pot shots at the Bills in general and Ralph and Marv in particular. For example, when Ralph voted against the agreement with the NFLPA and then lobbied for better revenue sharing, they made gratuitous comments about his age etc. As it turns out, Ralph was correct all along. Very rarely does one find anything positive about the Bills on PFT. (It is a bit like reading some of the posts on this board by people who have their particular crusades against individual Bills, e.g., WM). I have to believe that the Bills knew exactly what they were doing and what the ramifications were and that there are no surprises here.
-
You are correct. I meant Jim Overdorf.
-
I have no idea, but he may be referring to the fact that TV's hamstring injury initially occured in preseason. There has got to be an explaination. If Marv is one thing, he is smart. Moreover, Russ Brandon (if I recall his name) really seems to know his way around the league rules. There has got to be something more to this.

I have no idea how minor injured reserve works. I never heard of it before yesterday. The implication is that the Bills do not save any money by this designation (as opposed to "regular" injured reserve), still have to pay TV's entire salary (in the likely event he clears waivers), must let him go after 6 weeks, and after he clears waivers, TV can sign with any team he wants to (including the Pats or Dolphins for example) and know that he we will receive the full amount that the Bills owe him regardless of how much he signs for with another team. My hope is that the Bills are taking a calculated risk that no one will pick him up on waivers and that TV will want to stay with the Bills in some capacity (or some scenario beneficial to the Bills). I would hate to think that the Bills outsmarted themselves and will be stuck paying TV's entire salary only to see him play for another team after 6 weeks.
