If i had to pick one team in the NFL
frogger replied to frogger's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
actually it is who I want to lose, not who I expect, the 49ers will have the first pick in the 2007 draft. -
the catch, has to be outside of the AFC east. My Pick, without question, the Dallas Cowboys, now more than anytime before. the addition of TO just makes me hate them more.
-
Jeff Posey is funny, telling Marv that his name is Kellen, you got him this time Jeff, but just wait.
-
trade down to the rams, if Ngata, Davis, Bunkley and Young are still availible. Best case 8.Rams-Davis 9-Lions-Justice 10-cards-Young 11-Bills Ngata or bunkley worse case 8-Rams-Davis 9-Ngata-not likely, they have two solid interior linemen 10-Bunkley-may happen, but may not with young still there 11-Bills draft either Justice, or trade down further to the vikings. I could still see a reason to draft Justice, the Idea of getting additional picks and a player I like in the best case situation would be a homerun. any further with the first trade down and there is no shot at getting Ngata or even Bunkley, I could see the Browns draft Bunkley for DE. If the trade doesn't happen, draft Davis, like the chargers and wait, again worse case we keep a potetial outstanding weapon. best case is the rams decide before there pick that they can't live without Davis, assuming that they are still thinking Davis.

On NFL radio today, I heard an Idiot Pats fan (I know redundant) call in asking what they would have to trade to get Moulds, they all agreed a 2nd rounder. I would gladly take a 2nd rounder from the Pats. Wouldn't happen though. that being said would walker get the same attention, no. Moulds is a proven WR over the last 7 years, while he has had ups and downs, at least he's had more than one up. Too many WR have one good year, and bank off of that (see David Boston, Peerless Price, and even Charles Johnson) if he had two good years, the trade value would be higher, the fact is Moulds and Walker straight up should be the deal, only because moulds' contract is so large compared to walker. to compensate $$ the Packs don't have to give us an additional pick
-
I think the trade has to be done, it is in the best interest of both teams, hopwever will moulds go to Green Bay? I mean they are picking 5th overall, and Brett still has not decided to come back, though I think this would increase the odds. He wants to win, that is what I keep hearing form the moulds camp, yet green bay isn't going to win much more than us, and if he stays there he has to have Aaron Rogers as his QB in a year. I am sure there is something in Moulds' contract that can get him out of such a trade. I agree with John from hemet, Every doctor in Buffalo will look at Walker, to make sure. A concern I have is this. Drew Rosenhaus(can't spell his name) is like a special interest group in himself, if he has too much power over a team he could ruin them. I could see giving up a 3rd but not the 4th next year. and again we get additional cap room, which we could use during training camp to sign him long term. and in terms of Walkers talent, not concerned, he doesn't lack confidence, and he did have round one talent, unlike the past WR favre had.
-
My feeling on the Cards is...Ngata or a project QB, I think you go with a DT because you need one, and you're Denny Green. You'll have money to spend on a QB next year. After that I don't see any team that is in need for a back up and potential starter, except Minn, who just shipped Culpepper off.

1. Houston Texans-I think the collective NFL would be upset if they didn't pick Bush with all his hype, that being said Reggie Bush is their pick 2. NO Saints-QB has been addressed, and the 2nd best player in the draft is Mario Williams, however they are set at DE, they take D'Brick, gandy is getting old, and they can now release him. they need to protect that high priced arm 3. tenn. Titans-reunited and it feels so good, Matt Lienart and Norm, they need a future QB, he is just that. 4. NY Jets-didn't get Lienart, or D'Brick, however they could get Mario. But they select Jay Cutler due to worries about Chad's arm. 5. GB Packers-resign Aaron Kampman, who is a good LE, and address some of the interior in FA. So AJ Hawk who might be the best defensive player not named Mario 6. Raiders-Happy to get Mario Williams 7. SF 49ers-they need 2ndary help, and see Michael Huff. 8. Buffalo Bills-tough choice Davis might be the best TE in Years, and Ngata might be the best DT in years. Because we are building we get the biggest impact player. and that is Vernon Davis. 9. Detroit Lions-they see ngata but have a strong interior line on defense, their pick in Winston Justice 10. Arizona Cards. Haloti Ngata is their pick, they still need an interior defense, and he is a good pick for them. 11. STL Rams. Brodrick Bunkley-they need to address the DT position, so they do. 12. Cleveland browns. Chad Greenway-they need LBs in the worse way, the 3-4 defense is so LB heavy they could draft 4 in the draft. 13. Baltimore Ravens. After losing their big DT, they make the biggest reach and get Gabe Watson 14. Eagles-After dealing with TO, they draft a player at a need position with high character enter DeMeco Ryans OLB 15. Denver-LenDale white-replaces Mike Anderson, and should have gone higher in the draft. Good Value in this pick. 16. Miami Dolphins. Jimmy Williams, they need a CB, they got a big physical one. 17. Vikings. they are happy to see Vince young, who can sit and watch Brad Johnson. 18. Dallas Cowboys-Donte Whitner-They need a Safety opposite Williams, and he is the best remaining. 19.SD Chargers-santonio Holmes- they need youth at WR, Holmes lacks size, but is good in his breaks, they will struggle this year. 20.KC Cheifs-Ashton Youboty-they are still in need of a Corner, they got a pretty good one for the future. 21.NE pats- Laurence Maroney RB, Dillon is back, the one we loved in cinci. 22. Denver-Leonard Pope-loss Putzier, a big TE is not a typical Denver TE. 23. Tampa Bucs-Ko Simpson-fills safety needs, has good range and will work for Tampa 24.Bengals-Mathias Kiwanuka-Bengals need to address offensive line (for future) and DT, but they also need to but pressure of QBs, and he along with Justin Smith can. 25.NY giants. Eric Winston-Luke Pettigout could be cut, the Giants like Miami players. 26. Chi Bears-Anothony fasano-reminds some of Ditka, a short outlet for a team that needs a two way TE, a reach but addresses a need, comparable to Witten. 27. Panthers-DeAngelo williams-not the big back the team is used to, but able to do a lot more. Injuries have hurt the team a lot last few years at this position. 28. jaguars-Tamba Hali-gives them a pass rusher. could have pick Lewis and might but addresses a need over the flavor of the moment. 29. Jets-Nick Mangold-lost Mawae, now have new future Center 30. Colts-Due to loss of James, the team might value a RB a little too high, enter Joseph Addei from LSU, good hands and fast, will produce 1000 yard season due to system. 31. Seahawks-Darnell Bing-things went well with other USC player they just drafted. 32. Steelers-Dusty Dvoracek-you are thinking what? I know, tough kid, better fit at DE in a 3-4, he will be loved by Steeler fans.

Before a lemming mentality sets in, don't worry...
frogger replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mark my words 2007 we are active, 2006 not so active. In another post I wrote that the reason, I feel, we are not over bidding on good and average players is because in 2007, when all other teams have blown their loads in 2006, we'll have the best cap situation. And then we'll be able to go out and collect the very best at more reasonable prices. It is the same reason that Moulds wants a new contract with another team, he knows that if we release him he'll make more money this year then if we wait a year to release him. We are also seeing something unheard of until now, where 40% and higher becomes the norm for the guaranteed portions of the contracts. So we rebuild the best we can with the draft and role players. Allow them to show what they can and replace them if we don't like the way they perform, the free agency market will be better next year. I hate to say this but it's a good plan, we won't like the 2006 results, and we will be frustrated, but in 2007 we will be contenders again. Not to say 2006 we couldn't be an under dog surprise -
All the talk is about drafting O-Lineman
frogger replied to Like A Mofo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I highly agree, If we can I'd take a day one LB. however I think Crowell is going to be a special player, at MLB. A player I like from Virginia, is Kai Parham in the third, if we get an additional pick. He has the size to play LOLB. Posey is a Bust, I wish that we could have addressed OLB in Free agency, but we didn't. -
Okay, Lets say, we are done with free agency, and then after the draft picks are signed, where will we stand? $$$ wise. And what will our cap room look like next year. And who will be available? My thinking is this, Ralph isn't going to fire himself, and Marv is going to stay as long as he can, so they can gamble. I believe they are holding their collective waters, waiting for next off season, where only a handful will be able to sign players, because the cap won't jump another 10 million. And we'll see some of our dead money return to us. In the meantime, I believe we are gathering role players, and hoping one or two will pan out. who agrees?

I don't understand the "we need to draft
frogger replied to IUBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So would we be happy with Ngata in the first and Lewis in the 2nd? then with the remaining picks go Linemen and a safety or two -
I think Gandy could be a fine LG, he'd be considered athletic for that position, and his long arms will help, worse comes to worse he is better than Anderson. With the 15th I'd prefer we get Bunkley, and then with the 22nd if availible get Justice. another first day option that I feel is ready for the NFL is Andrew Whitworth. Simpson is a better fit at FS, not saying he couldn't do it. But if Donte whitner is availible I'd take him in the 2nd.

1. Michael Huff, S from of Texas 2. Nick Mangold, C from Ohio State 3. Taitusi Lutui, OG from USC 3. Dusty Dvoracek, DT from Oklahoma 4. Hank Baskett, WR from New Mexico 5. Bruce Gradkowski, QB from Toledo 6. Cedric Humes, RB from V-Tech 7. David Pittman, CB from Northwestern State I don't mean to anger you, but don't be critical of a persons post, if you ignore the three things you mentioned in the first round. at least Davis can line up on the line, that is unless you feel that huff is a lineman in a CB's body.

Evans will be our #1 and Josh Reed will be our #2
frogger replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
from what I heard, Lewis is a 2nd rounder, many think his forty time was average. and he lacks bulk, while Pope ran a 4.6 forty-I'd take either one in the 2nd, assuming they are their of course. I just can't see use win with a less than average line, and only McGahee and Evans as our weapons. If you get a pass catching TE at least the LB will be kept honest. and Jason avent reminds me of Boldin in AZ -
Evans will be our #1 and Josh Reed will be our #2
frogger replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think we'll use a first day selection to get a WR with size, if we do in fact part ways with Moulds. I really like Jason Avent in the 3rd, i think he is more ready to play unlike some others that might go higher. and if we do lose moulds i could also see us getting a go to TE, Davis in the first or maybe Lewis in the 2nd. I would be okay with 1-Ngata DT 2-Mercedes Lewis TE 3-Josh Bullocks/Darnell Bing (seems to be falling) SS 3b-Jason Avent WR 3c (from trade, moulds) Davin Joseph/Charles Spencer/Daryn Colledge LG 3d(com-Pat Williams)-Rocky McIntosh/ Kai Parham/Gerris Wilkinson LOLB 4-Anthnoy Smith FS -
question, when does the dead money return to our cap numbers, will it clear next year? and If so how come we can't use that to our advantage, sign a player to a 2 year deal, making moving the better portion into the 2nd year when we get the other side of that 5 million dead cap space (from mike williams). I love Moulds, he has been one of my favorites since he came to life in 98, Right now, my only concern is that what if he goes to a team we have to see play, because like Reed, thomas and Smith it was hard to see them in another uniform. Oh bother
-
I never said that Tripplet was near the same level that Harris was, I stated that they play the same role on the line, I am sorry that I forgot Simon, but dockett was a third round pick (I believe) and there are people in Houston that would argue with you about Travis Johnson being worthy of a number one pick. And I didn't say "he dominated high school, so he's ready for the NFL", but way to name drop, I stated that I remembered him from then, because he stood out. and I have followed his career since, Because he stood out.
-
Hopefully there will be scouts explaining to marv why the helmets are not leather, and what the face mask does, let alone who to pick. Marv would have served us better as the President, and not GM, While I think he is inspirational, he may not be the best judge of talent. But we'll see.

Uhmm, Larry triplett is our Tommie harris, LDT, what we are looking for is the Ian Scott, who is a Nose tackle, that is why the choice is Ngata. In tampa it Booger that is the nose, that is why Warren sapp got all of those sacks, in St louis Pickett was the Nose tackle. Prior to this season, how many of you heard of Bunkley? He had a great year, but can you think of another DT from FSU that has proved to be worthy of a first round pick, I really have not looked this up so please let me know. I remember the first time I saw Ngata, it was in the High School all star game, where he dominated. He has played well since, and has been the talk of the Ducks program since he got there. oh and Bunkley had a torn Ligament in his left knee that required surgery in 02, and played with an ihiury to his foot that required surgery after the 05 season. So don't say he has been perfectly healthy, the risk is always the same. look at Takeo, a perfectly heathly player. An injury history tells me that they can come back.

Could D'Brick ultimately be one of those guys...
frogger replied to HeyNowBuffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
D'Bricks attitude is why I would love to see the jets draft him. from what I have read he enjoys football, but doesn't play with a mean streak. He considers himself a bit of a class clown too. Who does that remind me of? Mike Williams, the difference is this, Mike has 70 pounds on him. Mike Williams spent too much time trying to make friends on the football field. Also, while the tackle class is good, there is no Bryant McKinnie, meaning, there isn't that true size/athletic combo guy, who no one thinks will do wrong in the NFL. Brick is a Passive guy. Which is great for parties, but not for football. I don't like to see my linemen smile without blood in there teeth. or tooth. and Mormons have to deal with that underwear thing, and I can't live without coffee. And I can't believe in a religion that started in Wayne County, Just east of Monroe County in Upstate NY for those who do not know. (frogger grew up in Wayne county) -
first complete first round of free agency, get Jon Runyan, yes he might be over rated, but that's why we know his name. and he has been on two losing super bowl teams. but he has passion something Mike Williams lacks. while we are at it Get Larry Allen too, we still have the cap room, we can afford him, these two additions along with the growth of Peters (not meant to be funny) Fowler and a rebonding Villarrial means more time for passing, and better lanes for running. Keep a rookie, Gandy and Preston as back ups. Trade Moulds for a 2nd round, maybe the Eagles. then 1(8)-Vernon Davis-gives us a go to playmaker opposite Evans. like SD we do not have a impact 2nd WR, we have a big play WR (Evans) and a play making TE (Davis). (this is under the idea Ngata, and Williams are drafted already) What The sporting News says: War Room analysis Hands: Has soft hands and catches the ball well. Is a tenacious receiver. Has a big vertical leap. Wins jump balls and makes acrobatic catches. Grade: 8.3. Patterns: Has a great understanding of the passing game. Knows how to beat man and zone coverage. Has elite speed for the position. Can stretch defenses but is willing to play in short and intermediate zones. Can turn short routes into long gains. Excels at running routes. Shows the burst to create separation in open field. Grade: 8.5. Run after catch: Speed makes him a scoring threat any time he touches the ball. Is elusive; makes defenders miss. Can outrun most defenders. Grade: 8.5. Release: Is quick off the line and shows the burst to keep defenders away. Sometimes struggles if defenders lock on. Combination of quickness and athleticism creates mismatches. Grade: 7.9. Blocking: His only weakness. Gets to the second level quickly but struggles to hit linebackers. Has great strength but does not use hands well and has trouble at the point of attack. Must improve technique. Would work best as an H-back or "move" tight end who won't need to block. Grade: 7.6. Bottom line: A super athlete, Davis has prototypical size, strength and outstanding speed for his position. His playmaking ability is a result of great instincts, good attitude and a strong work ethic. With his physical attributes and skills, Davis, an early-entry junior, is the top tight end in this class and a potential top 15 pick. On their website they have us picking him 2-Darnell Bing-Has the size you look for in a safety (6'1.5 219). starter at SS in rookie year. TSN:Is a physical specimen and a powerful defender who runs well for his size. Is an explosive defender; hits like a linebacker. Excels at being the eighth defender in the box. Can blitz off the corner. Uses his hands well in the running game; can disengage blocks and get to the ball carrier. Has great ball skills for a bigger safety. Covers ground in the passing game; gets a good jump on routes and can separate receivers from the ball. Has a knack for making big plays. Plays with a mean streak 2b-Gabe watson-he will fall, mark my words, his workout numbers are less than average, and his tape tells another story from what scouts saw at the senior bowl, however he is a space eater. TSN:War Room analysis Against the run: Is a prototypical nose tackle who keeps opponents from running up the middle. Plays with outstanding leverage and discipline at the point of attack. Overpowers opponents on impact; demands double teams. Was the most dominant run defender at the Senior Bowl. Takes plays off, however. Lacks range. Makes few plays outside the tackle box. Grade: 8.2. Pass rush: Possesses few moves but has the power to collapse the pocket by bull rushing. Gives up on pass rush when initial move is blocked. Must expand repertoire to become an every-down lineman. Grade: 7.8. Initial quickness: Is not fast but has good short-area quickness. Can get off the ball and into opponents quickly. Shows decent straight-ahead quickness but has stiff hips and is slow out of stance when moving laterally. Grade: 7.9. Run/pass recognition: Has great instincts for the run; senses when down blocks and double teams are coming. Is disciplined in technique; doesn't overpursue against the run and stays in pass-rush lanes. Is slow to read pass vs. play-action. Grade: 8.0. Pursuit/tackling: Lacks the athleticism and speed to be a major factor in pursuit. Is a sure tackler inside the tackle box but doesn't play well in open field. Grade: 7.7. Bottom line: There have been questions about Watson's work ethic and attitude for most of his career, but he made a good effort to silence critics with a dominant performance during Senior Bowl week. He closed the gap on Ngata, but Watson's lack of mobility and past attitude problems still will be a factor. He is the perfect fit for nose tackle in a 3-4, and although he grades out as an early second-rounder, he could sneak into first round. 3-Jason Avent-starter opposite Evans, reminds me of Anquan Boldin, TSN: Is polished and consistent. Runs excellent routes and gets in and out of breaks with a burst. Reads coverages well and finds soft spots in zones. Uses quickness, vision and body control to beat man-to-man coverage. Has good size and strength. Shows excellent hands and can make all the catches -- on the run, across the middle, in traffic or downfield. Snatches passes at full speed. Secures the ball well. Is an aggressive blocker. Is coachable. 3b-Anthony Smith-Future at FS, TSN:Has good speed. Has great instincts, dissects plays quickly and gets great breaks on the ball. Reads routes well; puts himself in position to make plays. Has great ball skills and good hands. Is a capable blitzer and pass rusher. Fills hard in the running game. Is durable and dependable. Plays with passion and intensity. 4-Jeremy Trueblood-I think he'll fall into the 2nd day, where he could be a steal. has been compared to Runyan, now he is Runyans back up, and the Rookie we keep on the team at lineman TSN:War Room analysis Run blocking: Has great size. Moves very well and finishes blocks. Has a daunting reach (34 1/2 inches) and huge hands (10 1/2-inch span). Must learn to play with better knee bend and leverage. Plays high and lets defenders get under his pads. Shows a good first step and takes good angles. Isn't explosive but engulfs defenders. Grade: 7.0. Pass blocking: Works well to lock on and sustain blocks. Has a huge wingspan. Shows good footwork and quickness. Must improve technique. Tends to lose leverage and get off-balance. Struggles against quicker defensive ends. Needs to improve hand usage in protection. Grade: 7.0. Initial quickness: Is surprisingly quick for his size. Has trouble against elite speed rushers but settles well in protection and stays under control. Sometimes comes out of his stance too high. Grade: 7.2. Strength: Is stronger in upper body than in lower body. Plays with a good base. Struggles against more athletic defensive ends who can get under him. Sometimes has trouble with bull rushers. Grade: 7.1. Mobility: Lacks the elite athleticism. Works well going forward; is especially quick in run blocking. Isn't the best at moving laterally. Lacks ideal body control in open field. Struggles to redirect. Grade: 7.2. Bottom line: Trueblood, a three-year college starter, is a solid player who gives his all on every down. He has the size and quickness to play right away in the NFL but would benefit from some time to develop behind a veteran. The talent and depth of the '06 tackle class might push Trueblood out of the top spots, but he still will have a chance to be a Day 1 pick. 5-Danieal Manning CB at 5'11" 202 pounds, What TSN says: Is versatile with average size and speed. Is good in run support, and takes good angles to the ball. Is a solid tackler who wraps up the ball carrier. Is fluid, and changes directions without losing much speed. Has average range in zone coverage. Has good ball skills, and is a natural playmaker. Is a threat to score on any interception 6-Ryan LaCasse-LOLB, played End in college, but is a gifted athlete, stands 6'2" 250 pounds, strong enough to take on TEs, and fast enough to keep up with them, is a project, but could turn out to be a Rosie colvin type, as a rookie he could be a pass rushing specialist and a special teamer.TSN:Has upfield speed to beat opponents to the corner. Possesses good body control, and can shoot inside gaps on stunts. Is a good open-field tackler. Contains outside runs. Has a knack for causing fumbles. Plays with intensity, and shows a high football IQ. 7-De'Arrius Howard-RB, 6' 230, from Ark, had a very good shrine game. could prove to be a very good 2nd RB. TSN:has nothing

if we lose Moulds who do we start opposite Evans? Josh reed?

Allen wouldn't be a bad decision
frogger replied to BUFFALOTONE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would love to see maybe the best guard in the history of the game come here. But teach? I think he complements Fowler very well, since he doesn't need any help blocking even the most massive of DT. Which would allow Fowler to use that athletic ability he has to get to the LBs. It also would give a player like JP the time to make good throws. Improving his production and or teams' chances of winning. Even if it is only a two year contract, as long as it is not more than 9 million, with 40% guaranteed. a Short term solution could be what this team needs to get back on track. Bring in Jon Runyan too. Peters-Allen-Fowler-Villarrial-Runyan is like Marv, old. But better than what we had last year, and only a short term solution, but a solution none the less -
Folwer is our starter! there are some on this board that were high on him several years ago. Finally a moment of happiness, wait it's gone.
