I've heard and read that Bentley is not happy with NO, however they can't tag howard this year, and the rumor is it will be Bentley who gets the tag. Sorry out there, I like him too, but he is spoken for.

Our top options for the 2006 NFL Draft
frogger replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
my only argument about your first 7 picks is this, Turner is the new OC in SF, hence if they go back they'll go with White, because he is more of a power back, who could carry it 30+ times a game, while I know Williams did it in college, he also suffered injuries and played in CUSA-not quite in USC league. It will not shock me if Tenn picks Cutler or Green bay picks Ngata, remember Jackson is a free agent and they lost Hunt last year, they are weak up the middle. while they have depth at LB, well somewhat, no one to Hawks abilities though. one possible trade down that could get a 2nd rounder without moving us much, is if the Cards show interest in getting Cutler, or if they trade their first for Culpepper and the Vikes want to draft Cutler (this scenario is more possible) they just have to leap frog Detroit to ensure it, but the jump if there is competition would be worth a 2nd rounder and another later round pick. all there has to be is a market for Cutler, as I see it, the Ravens may have some interest, the cards, and Detroit which of course would be the best for us. If Williams, and Ngata are off the board then I would test the waters here, if they are both there and Detroit want to ensure the pick of cutler, then hell yeah I'd do it. and maybe get a 3rd or 4th rounder for a little move. which would also save us a little cap room. -
I like him too, however i see him in a 3-4, as a DE
-
I understand he has had only a week to practice, However this is the most fundamental defensive game plan, no stunts, no safety blitzes, et cetera. D'Brick's inability to pick up a a DE that will never start in the NFL, is scary. What happens when they over load his side, what happens when they stunt and all of a sudden he is face to face with a 335 pound NT-he will be defeated. remember it only takes 2 plays an entire game to change the outcome of that game. he had two mistakes in about half a game. and they were against weak comp. just say no to D'Brick, and this has not been my newest stance, this has always been my stance. He will fail in the NFL, I too have watched him. If the Jets draft him, Aaron Schobel, should call the jets and thank them.

ah ha, we don't know what kind of system we are going to run, not to mention he'll have a year or two to get bigger. LeCharles Bentley was about 295 when he entered the NFL he is now around 315. I think interior linemen can gain the weight easier than the tackles. he has talent, and he was the outland winner. it's not like we are drafting him on the first day. and his weight is only 285ish, 10-15 pounds wouldn't be imposible
-
I like crowell a lot, the reason behind drafting Carrpenter is, I feel he is a special player, Crowell might have to start, but not at LOLB, but instead at ROLB, still many questions about the health of Spikes, he says he'll be ready, but it could be an injury he never fully recovers from. You might have a point about a lack of linemen, at the moment we might only have Preston and Eslinger as Back ups, if Trey Teague reduced his desire for money I'd consider bringing him back as a back up OT. Or bring in another low cost OT. I think that Baker is our future FS, and I might take Bing or Blue in the 2nd over a CB.

gluten for punishment, so here goes Cut Mike Williams, save us lots of money. -Bennie Anderson-save us money -jeff Posey-saves us the highlights of other teams Extend Eric Moulds cutting cap hit. He had almost twice as many catches as our 2nd WR last year. resign Josh reed, he started to finally come around, but his future may take another turn. resign all who cost little to the team. Franny Clements, but see below Sign: Ted Washington-after release from Raiders, old but still the best DT Buffalo has ever had. -Peerless Price-sure he has struggled at other stops, that just drops his price. And he is a good 3rd or 4th option. -Matt Schobel-great athlete, good hands and a weapon in the passing game at TE -Ron Dayne-Big back that we need, another cheap FA, solid back up. -Brian Williams-nickel back in Minn last year, had 4 ints -Andy McCullum-aging vet, knows fairchild's system, and cheap. end result, 6 second tier free agents that need a fresh start Should combine to cost less than what we save after the williams and moulds moves. Trade rights of clements to NY Giants, for their 1st and a 4th. that way we don't have to spend a lot of money on one player, that struggled last year. this is how I see the first 8 picks going 1-Texans-Bush 2-NO-Leinart 3-Ttians-Cutler-Norm chow didn't talk about him much in the interview I heard, so he is interested, as good as young is, there is still a lot to teach him, and cutler went to college in Tenn. 4-Jets-young-to good to pass up. even with Ferguson on the board 5-Pack-Ngata-they need interior help more than a DE. 6-49ers-D'Brickashaw-a young LT to block for a young QB, they have not been too happy with Harris, and Jennings has been injured....go figure 7-raiders-AJ hawk-they are very weak at LB 8-Buffalo Bills-Mario Williams-2nd best defensive lineman in draft. Ngata is higher on my list. Big and athletic, compared to Peppers, I compare him to udeze but healthy and injury free. On paper so far our Line would look like Schobel-Adams-Washington-williams, size up the middle and speed on the outside, that's a tough line. 1b (from Giants) Winston Justice-He can play RT or LT, and should be available, lacks great size, but will be able to add quality weight. As a rookie I foresee him playing RT. 2-Aston Youboty-CB, or a safety if he is selected before this, I think he is a little bit of a project, but he is very similar to Clements. Brian Williams could man the CB spot until he is ready. then trade two 3rd for a 2nd, 2b-Bobby Carpenter-coming off an injury he should still be there, I love this kid, he is tough and a very good athlete, he has more than enough size to start at LOLB as a rookie. 4a-Greg Eslinger-he might be gone by this point, but in years past the 2nd and 3rd centers go in the middle round, undersized but behind mcCollum he'll have time to bulk up the 10-15 pounds needed. 4b(from Giants) kelly Jennings-another CB in case of injuries 5-Drew Olson-can play in the NFL, at the moment this is where I see him going, gives us a young back up, just in case. 6-Dwayne Slay-safety-big hitter, good athlete, could be future of position, or a good special teamer. 7-Gerald Anderson-big DT from Georgia-might not make team but is better than Bannan. Potential Starting defense Vincent(or Baker) and Milloy McGee and Youboty spikes-fletcher-Carpenter Schobel-Adams-washington-Williams -size up the middle, speed and good tackling on the outside, and average CBs and aging safeties Potential starting offense McGahee Shelton Losman or Holcomb Moulds Schobel Justice-Villarrial-McCullum-gandy-Peters Evans -better line, TE threat- and a new attacking offense (hopefully)-the change I would make with Reed is, I would make him a 3rd down back-for those who do not remember he was a running back early in his college career, so to convert wouldn't be too hard for him, he would also create more match up problems that way, and be more of a threat. go ahead and bash it, it's what we do best

correct me if i am wrong: but isn't, or wasn't Sam Adams living in Ted's house? I smell great reality tv
-
First off-Ngata's mother died, yes that is a personal problem, everyone in the world will deal with, the fact is he is very motivated, and he will make an impact day one. He is going to be better than Pat williams. 2nd, mark my words, Ferguson will be a complete bust in the NFL, he is too light, and not athletic enough, I don't care if he runs a 4.8 40 in the combine, there are DE that are stronger and faster than him, the future of the LT spot lies in the hands of Jason Peters, he is physical (unlike D'Brick) has great hands and is very athletic for his size. Don't mess with the d brick-it will only bring heartache. call me crazy but how did the last texas tackle we draft turn out?
-
I used todd collins to deflect the peerless price comments, and the term grawler is from that Davenport story, if you listen to Rome you know what I mean.
-
Mike Sherman head coach, Dick jouron DC, Sam Wyche OC/QB coach -sign and trade Clements to the Giants for 1 and 4 -release, Posey, Anderson, and Villerrial-has to save us something -restructure Moulds and Williams-yes that is what i said. remember this is a frogger offseason. -Sign Todd Collins (3rd QB), LeCharles Bentley (new starting Center, $$$$) Jon Runyan (new starting RT, $$) Matt Schobel (new starting TE, $) Brian Williams (3rd CB, $) Najeh Davenport(new Grawler, back up RB, $$) and Peerless Price (new 3rd WR, he has not been the same player since leaving Buffalo, it won't hurt to bring him back, $) 1-Haloti Ngata DT-instant starter, great size, hard worker. 1b-Chad Greenway OLB-instant starter starts strong side, strong OLB class forces him to slide. against florida he was covering slot WR better than Iowa's CBs 2-Tye Hill CB-maybe instant starter, if not, 3rd CB and Williams starts, lacks size, but is a play maker, underclassmen force him back. 3a-Davin Joseph G/T-could start or add depth, can pull, unlike Anderson 3b-Jeremy Trueblood T-good name and back up, great size. 4-Garrett Mills FB-remember when the FB was a threat in the passing game 4b-Dwayne Slay Safety-hard hitter with good size, forced 8 fumbles this season 5-Jonathon Orr WR-tall long armed WR with speed, could be Chad johnson good, or Aiken bad. 6-James Wyche DE, 6'6"267, with the potential to get bigger, adds depth, and PRS 7-Freddie Roach ILB-good size, a little faster than Haggen, adds depth. Offense: QB:Losman, and Holcomb to battle it out RB McGahee and Davenport backing him up, and josh reed moved to one time college position and used as a 3rd down back. FB-Mills and Shelton TE-Schobel, Everett, and Euhus-Pass threat TEs, what are they? WR Evans, Moulds, Price, Parrish, and Orr in that order for depth, speed!!! LT-Peters-best athlete potentially GREAT LT, Gandy backing LG-Gandy with Joseph backing Center -Bentley with Preston backing RG Mike Williams, with Joseph, and Preston backing RT Runyan with Trueblood backing, -Runyan and Bentley make us a stronger run team, Mike Williams and Gandy are good athletes for interior linemen and hopefully playing next to Runyan and Bentley he'll be more aggressive. Peters has so much potential. Davenport helps wear down the defense, Schobel stretches the field better than anyone for the money, plus he is a brother to Aaron. Price might only be a 3rd or 4th WR option, but it's better than what we would have. and he comes very cheap. Mills might have the best hands in the draft, he might struggle as a run blocker, but he is worth the chance. with the exception of Mills no rookie starters, and Shelton might return as the starter.-but still a young team Defense LE-Kelsey or Denney and Wyche backing DTs-Adams and Ngata-with edwards and Anderson backing RE-Schobel-with Wyche and kelsey backing ROLB-New and improved Spikes with Crowell backing ILB-Fletch with Haggen or Roach backing LOLB Greenway-with Stamer and Crowell backing CBs-mcGee, Hill, Williams, King and Greer FS-Vincent, unless baker or Slay shows they should start SS-Milloy-unless Slay shows he should start, then I would release either one of Vincent or Milloy. -I think at the end of the season Baker should have been the starter at FS, he seems to know how to play the position better than Vincent. kelsey had a bad season, while I thought that Denney played well. Wyche could steal time. Greenway is an outstanding linebacker, and gives us the best group of LBers in he NFL. Hill could be better than Winfield, while we are short at CB, we'll create more turnovers this season. Ngata makes a huge difference at DT next to a healthy Adams, and yes he returns, he said he wants to play in Buffalo I think he is too honest to lie. yes 3 rookies starting, and maybe 4 Kicker Lindell, and punter Moorman KR-McGee PR-Parrish i thought the ST units played well, until they played the Jets in a meaningless game, I expect a similar output this year we might not win the AFC east, but we'll improve
-
I was just thinking, would there be any compensation for him? if he is picked up by Miami, should they owe us a pick? In the case of Edwards, had he asked to be released from his contract and then picked up by the chiefs, would the chiefs not owe them anything? Just a simple question.

there is actually a BYU in Hawaii-not sure if anyone knew that, or cared. My mother grew up in Palmyra, the birth place of the mormons, it's a very depressing town, and south park did a good job making it look stupid. Ngata is the best player for us in the draft, I have a million plus questions about the LT in this draft, not to mention it is hard for a rookie to start at LT their rookie year. Mario Williams or Ngata-we need an impact player on Defense
-
I predict that this years stand out player will be: Jay Cutler-he might have such a good showing that the Titans if they have to pick between Leinart and Cutler they might 2nd guess themselves. Cutler is the best QB since Peyton Manning to come out of the SEC. We might even take a chance if he has a good enough showing. It will be similar to the way Rivers helped his status. please add your own

Jason peters learned how to play RT this season, and he was our best lineman, why not teach him how to play LT, I figure he'll pick that up fast as well, he is more athletic than any of the tackles coming out. Also we can get a rather good RT via Free agency or the draft, a player like Jon Runyan could step in a play, or LJ Shelton, either could start at RT, and cost little, less than the money we save by cutting, or reducing Mike williams' contract. Who i think should start at RG, and like I said in another post about D'brick, he is only able to play 1 position, what if he struggles, as rookies do, there is no chance he could play RT at 285 (don't believe the draft web sites, that is his playing weight, remember Flowers if you think he can bulk up). we need to address the Defense, I think the offense will be better in part because I am hoping Sherman is the coach, I think once our defense becomes better our offense will respond. I like that Sherman liked Losman too, and I think that Losman compares to Favre well. What I really like about sherman, is how he sticks up for his players, remember chad clifton and Sapp. Bottom line, we get LeCharles Bentley, move our sept 2005 starting tackles inside to guard, move in a vet to RT and move our best talent to LT and we'll be ok. Peters-Gandy-Bentley-Williams-Runyan/Shelton/releasie. I pray that the jets draft D'Brick, Schobel will destroy him.

Please don't take D'Brick if available
frogger replied to marck's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
my concern with D'Brick, is this, the last few years, the top LTs have all had to play RT or Guard before moving over, Robert Gallery is a good example, however i feel that Gallery is far past what Fergie is remember Gallery is bigger, plays with a mean steak, and is more athletic than D'Brick. D'Brick can not play RT. Draft Colledge in the 2nd. He can play LT or RT, or even LG -
there is not way that SF pick Ryans, he is only high on Kiper's list, most have him listed 3rd or further down the list, also, Detroit needs WR everyone who is anyone knows that. (kidding) They'll pick Cutler, which is great, because I think he'll be a very good QB in time, meaning that Miami doesn't get a QB. My only concern is that SF could use some sort of an interior force, i e Ngata, whom I really like. Also I could see GB taking Ngata.

I love the idea of getting a coach like Reeves, and his offense isn't that hard, if Vick and the the rest of the falcons can pick it up, so can the Bills, however don't sell Haslett short, remember the state the saints were in prior to his getting there, and if you look at his record, 4 out of 6 years he ended the season at or above .500. I think peyton is the worse of the bunch we are looking at right now, remember Fassel demoted him wihile he was with the giants, that sucks
-
This might be the worse thing to happen to buffalo since the 98 draft. I hope we decide fast, the longer and more drawn out the process of looking for a coach the more desperate we will appear, or become. I could live with Haslett, if you look at his years there, 4 out of 6 were at or above .500, he dealt with players like Horn, and Brooks, who distracted the team, far worse than Moulds and Adams. He dealt with inner team issues, like the Willie Roaf vs. Joe Horn battle. He dealt with a hurricane, and a GM drafting stupid-like, like drafting a position you are already strong at. Bad picks like Sullivan, and losing free agents every year. Being a Former Bill, I would hope he has more passion for this team then he did in New Orleans, but don't forget where the saints were prior to his coaching there. He did turn that team around The concerns I have are this, Did he burn any bridges before leaving NO, how is his relationship with Bentley, are they close, would they like to play together again? And more than anything else, his relationship with Mike Sheppard, let us pray they didn't like each other, and there is no chance we'll see him in OP again. He would be the biggest splash of the coaching signings, that is if we couldn't get Dan Reeves.
-
I highly agree with Dan Reeves, right now the buffalo bills have a black eye, we need to get a big name coach in there to get free agents interested again or at all. Dan Reeves, Jim Haslett could still be the DC and Sam Wyche OC. Otherwise we are going to get FAs like Bennie Anderson again. dan has worked with two other athletic QBs wearing number 7, why not another.

"With the 8th pick in the 2006 draft, The
frogger replied to billsboys's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
please remember that this is not Marv's team, he is not the coach, and he never really dealt with a high draft pick, it's easy to not start rookies when you are the best team in the afc 4 years in a row, and no coach wants to start rookies, I am sure that if it was up to them, they would already be in their third year. the fact of the matter is that this is MM team, that was one of the problems I had with TD, the GM should not decide who starts, his job is to get the best players that fit the system. the coaching staff picks who starts. -
Why is Halotti Ngata not on Mel Kiper's
frogger replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ngata, is not lazy, he was playing the short passing lanes, if you have the tape, watch he would move toward where the QB was looking, without penetrating, doing this not only took up two linemen, but also blocked his vision, it's really a vet type move. Mario Williams, would be a dream come true, I fully agree he would have to be doubled along with Schobel, it could be a very good end combo, as long as in the 2nd we address the DT with a player like Watsonor a free agnet like Grady jackson. another player to watch is Jonathon Orr-remember that name, 6'2" 195 WR, looks like Johnson, runs around a 4.3 40 and has great hands, worthy of a 3rd rounder at the very least, he'll shoot up after the combine -
Since we're posting "dream offseasons"....
frogger replied to BravinSeattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just woke up from my dream offseason, in it we got, Bush, young, D'Brick, Vernon davis, Ngata and mario williams..... Sorry Bravinseattle, your dreams suck, was your wife a girl from the lane Bryant collection too? you dream underachiever -
Hold on, Gardner to replace Moulds? I hope you are kidding? Eric Moulds will remain a Bill, for a simple reason, he knows he can redo his contract, where the end result is the same, and he is still the number 1 WR, and he doesn't have to go anywhere. I would on top of that sign Peerless Price, say what you want but in Buffalo he was good, if he doesn't pan out, release him, but he is better than Aiken. I think we can get our starting LT in the 2nd, Colledge is very good, athletic and stronger than D'Brick, get Ngata in the first and DC in the 2nd, sign Bentley. I like the idea of moving Williams over, but only if he is willing to basically work his contract in the same way that Moulds will, where he doesn't hurt the team. and I believe the best situation for the TE spot is to sign Matt Schobel, who has the speed to get deep on a safety or LB and works hard at blocking-it's just not great. I firmly believe that a TE that is a threat in the passing game is a better blocker, only because the covering LB has to respect the pass, and can't cheat up.

another Mock Draft...i LIKE this one!
frogger replied to OnTheRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
D’Brickashaw Ferguson is one of the most over rated players in any draft I have ever seen, he is a finesse player, who has trouble run blocking. there is no way I pass up on Ngata. that being said in the 2nd round, I'd take McNeil, not that I am a fan of his, but his size is nice, and we could move Peters to LT. Or I would draft Daryn Colledge, who is a lot like Turley in his younger days. or Greg Blue so we have a reason to release Milloy. while I am at it, why would the Jets not pick DeAngelo Williams, and why would the Browns. in the third gabe Watson, two young large bodies. and then Will Blackmon, who could be a nickel his rookie year or even Davin Joseph the guard from OU. still nice find, it's going to be bookmarked along with the rest
