  1. The vertical jump means more to me, along with the shuttles, so what if you can run straight and fast, how does that translate into Football. Shuttles tell you how he'll stunt. And Vertical tells you how explosive he is off the line. The forty is so un-natural to a lineman.
  2. you would have thought that these people would have just gone away, but today the 25th they plan to march in the parramore area here in Orlando, the area is the the most urban of the city. Why are they marching? Who knows, I am sure they think they have a reason. the sad part is the media attention (which as i think about it, is the reason they are marching) everyone will be there, another interesting part, is the Police are not inspecting for arms (weapons) so many will be carrying (my guess). My wife, who is part of the Media, will be there covering the activity. So if something does happen my wife might be caught in the middle of it. Which is the true reason I wrote this post. I have to work today, and I get to worry about it all day. But if something does happen and you are interested watch the evening news (NBC) you might see some of her work. Since i am sure it will get countrywide coverage. until later Frogger Out!
  3. Since Milloy is a "in the box" safety, he doesn't fit the role of a cover 2. Not that I don't think he could, but he is not that much of a ball hawk and is slow in coverage. I think the money we save cutting him, makes it hard for him to return. One possible FA Dexter Jackson, the safety from the Bucs, FA, has been bouncing around a little, Super bowl MVP, and knows the cover 2, very well. and wouldn't cost us as much as keeping Milloy. I would keep Vincent since there is not much cap saving by letting him go. But I would look to upgrade. And maybe keeping Vincent as a 3d CB. Vincent is great in zone coverage, or he was. I like Bing in the 2nd.-or slay in the 3rd or 4th
  4. we almost said the same thing about mike Williams, he's still young, give him time. Forget that! I don't think we can give them time anymore. If we can get Bentley, who imho, is the best young center in the NFL, you must get him. If Healthy, he is a pro bowler every year. Is athletic enough to get to the 2nd level, and nasty as hell. I don't want to lose QBs and RBs while Duke is trying to reach potential. One thing I learned last year, is JP can be dangerous if given time, he has a pretty deep ball, and in time will hit the short targets. But he needs to see the field. We have short WR (evan, Parrish, Reed) so it's even more important that he has the time.
  5. they were too busy training, talking to LeCharles Bentley (to bring him here) and saving babies to be there for Marv's calls. It happens
  6. 1st, what would you rather have, 5 million in the bank to spend on no one or have 2-3 million and have a player that was our best WR last year. not a huge difference between saving 5 million and saving 2-3 million, when you are talking in the 20 millions. Regardless keep Moulds, he is a leader, yes he complains, some leaders do that. He is still the face of the bills to me. Marv loves him, and there are no replacements out there, that we can ensure will sign with us Restructuring Schobel? Did you think his Pro bowl type season wasn't good enough, compared to what we are paying other players on this team he is a steal. I'd sign his brother as a bonus to him. While I would have to agree about Fletcher, I think we can extend his contract.
  7. I think he'll have other options, and I believe that marv and dick have made it clear that they want Moulds here next year. While he would be a great addition, Seattle won't let him go, assuming they have enough to spend on him after Hutch, and adding a RB via Free agency. But I imagine other teams like the colts will show interest. And if I had to pick between the colt and the Bills right now. I think I'd take the colts. Buffalo's QB situation will make it tough to bring in top flight FAs. I believe we'll be lucky to get any top Free agents. and if we do, we'll overpay for them. If Lecharles Bentley makes it past the tag, and we are interested in him at all, we better jump on him quickly and throw some major cash at him. 1 great FA with many average would be fine with me. We also have to look at Free agents as rookies and see their potential, i. e. Matt Schobel-who coming out of college was one of the quicker TEs, and who has good hands. I don't believe that Cinci has used him to his full potential, and we can play the relative card. Anything to make us better. But if we improve next year it is going to have to be from the draft.
  8. correct me if I am wrong, but don't the falcons run a zone blocking scheme? and it's not like he is blocking Bledsoes blind side. Kevin Shaffer was the left tackle for a left handed QB right, and a team that ran the ball, alot. not saying I wouldn't consider him, just not that high on my list. I'd put Bentley tops on my list
  9. We do this every year... Nate doesn't want to be here, don't resign him, He wants money, don't resign him, why can't nate just pay for the love of the game and Buffalo? Add to that, how overpaid players are. et cetera. If we resign him that is great, franny him, fine. Whatever makes us better. I have no emotional attachment to Nate. I think he can turn it on when he wants to.
  10. I guess my question to you is, would you rather have a proven interior lineman, or a Proven CB. While I believe we can win without a shut down corner (not sure if Clements really is a shut down corner, he did however pretty much shut down after week 5) However i feel that we can't win without addressing the OL. Bentley after Hutch is the best lineman availible, he might cost less than 5 million a year, and we could sign a better than average corner in Brian Williams. Or really worse case, move Vincent back to corner. If we are going into a cover 2, he will be less likely to give up big plays.
  11. You inspired me, well after responding to your post, I figured I'd better come up with one myself, or I'd be like everyone else on the board that will talk crap about others post but never put an ideas out there. It's all fantasy world anyways. I meant no disrespect...yo while I am at it. Green Bay is very weak in the 2ndary, harris is there only true starter, Carroll has been a yellow flag magnet, I've seen mocks where they draft Jimmy Williams with the fifth pick. In my fantasy world, they would be willing to move down 3 spots and give up a 2nd rounder for a first round talent. they still can get a good player at 8, but not Mario Williams. I feel Williams is that good. and it's more realistic that assuming we'll get a first rounder and yes Peerless Price, he would be cheap, and increase the odds of Moulds extending. He is still fast and I feel he just needs another shot, if he signs a 1 year deal for 900,000, would it be so bad? He would be more productive than Aikens and Smith. I'd keep Josh reed for a simple reason, I'd get rid of Shaud Williams, and make Josh Reed take back number 25, and make him a 3rd down back. he is a better blocker than Williams, and has great hands/route runner for a RB. He has played the position before-see college days-while I know its not the same, I don't expect him to run the ball, but if he has to he can, he is the ideal third down back. I am not sure why MM didn't think of it first. Frogger out
  12. Start:6.47 million under release: Posey, Mike Williams, Anderson, Wire, Milloy (I was wrong, it was 2.5 million saved if released) shelton and Campbell. +12,419,778 cap room. Ext-Moulds and fletcher-possible saving about 5 million so about 24 million under at this point. resign all of our middle of the road players and role players. But give jason Peters a 4 year deal -combined around 6 million total 18 million remaining Franchise Clements, and look to trade-since Patrick Surtain got a 2nd round pick, I think that is what we'll get for clements, Green bay needs a CB, so trade 1st round picks and get there 2nd on top of that. So we now move up to number 5 and get there 2nd rounder. Green Bay gets a starter at CB and only moves back 3 spots, I might throw in a 4th or later to sweeten the deal, but in this dream, no. sign-Lecharles Bentley C, Ted washington (if released) Matt Schobel TE, Brian Williams CB, Peerless Price WR, LJ Shelton RT, Ron Dayne RB and Maake Kemoeatu DT cost about 10-12 million million Draft 1-Mario Williams DE-Starter at LE 2a-Greg Blue SS-could start as a rookie, if not there is Baker. 2b-Jon Scott-Could start at RT or back up LJ Shelton. 3a-A.J. Nicholson-had off the field issues, 1st round talent 3b-Dee Webb-good cover guy, young talent, not expected to start. 4-Garrett Mills-pass catching FB 5-Tim Jennings-CB insurance 6-Todd Watkins-fast WR and 6'3" 7-Justin Blalock-did you know he declared, could be a guard, and since texas killed us with Williams, I figure 1 out of three. QB-Holcomb and JP losman RB-McGahee and Dayne FB Mills TE Schobel, Everett, Euhus LT Jason Peters LG-Mike Gandy Center-bentley RG-Villarrial or Preston RT- Shelton or Scott WR-Moulds, Evans, Reed, Price, Watkins and Parrish (move Reed to 3rd down back?) LE-Williams DT Adams DTWashington RE Schobel LB Spikes ILB Fletcher LB Crowell or Nicholson CB McGee CB Williams with Dee Webb, Jennings and King FS Vincent or Baker SS Baker or Blue not great, but not bad
  13. Once again, I do not like McNeil, I feel he looks the part, but drafting him would be a mistake better left to Dallas or another team. We are keeping 2 TE and 6 WR, okay, no. Count Smith gone. We are really in need for a proven TE, Everett has not seen the field, and Euhus has not proven to be NFL ready. How about Matt Schobel-worse case he's the 2nd TE, but at least we would have a healthy TE. Wilkinson is a day 1 pick. Dropping vincent and Lawyer saves us 1.6 million (I think) but we have a lot of dead money, I'd rather keep them, I can't see starting a Rookie at CB. We still have no idea of how long it's going to take Spikes to fully recover, so I believe that we need to address the LB spot on the first day. I also don't like Brock, i feel he is undersized and is weak against the run. What I'd rather do is draft Mario Williams (after my smear campaign) and sign Grady Jackson and a released Washington to create a solid 4 man rotation.
  14. What I didn't like about it, was why not try to extend Moulds, and London Fletcher saving about the same amount of money. Plus cutting Posey and addressing the olb in free agency or the draft. i think Stamer is a better LB as well. Otherwise I'd be very happy with that offseason. I Like Mario Williams, combined with Schobel, they could create a Carolina type line.
  15. You are fooling yourself if you believe she has a chance at being president. there is no way a southern GOPer is going to vote for a black woman.
  16. I hope you are kidding, sam Adams has one of the fastest first steps in the NFL, numbers 2 and 3 are not so fast but when he is Healthy he gets off the ball faster than any DT in the NFL. Also our defense is a defense that requires large DT, and DJ's (at least in Chi) is the same. From what I understand Adams and Washington are friends and teddy would help motivate Adams, Speed on the outside and power up the middle. if you stop the inside run, and bounce the ball outside, good tacklers can make plays (which is why Posey needs to go) I agree that on passing downs an inside rusher would be helpfull, hopefully Edwards can return, not sure if anyone remembers his 40 time out of college-I believe it was around 4.7-but that was 40 pounds ago. One possible middle rounder is Wroten, who was arrested for pot, shortly after the bowl game. So like Hawthorne did last year he should fall, and hopefully we can get him in the 4th otr 5th.
  17. I've heard and read that Bentley is not happy with NO, however they can't tag howard this year, and the rumor is it will be Bentley who gets the tag. Sorry out there, I like him too, but he is spoken for.
  18. my only argument about your first 7 picks is this, Turner is the new OC in SF, hence if they go back they'll go with White, because he is more of a power back, who could carry it 30+ times a game, while I know Williams did it in college, he also suffered injuries and played in CUSA-not quite in USC league. It will not shock me if Tenn picks Cutler or Green bay picks Ngata, remember Jackson is a free agent and they lost Hunt last year, they are weak up the middle. while they have depth at LB, well somewhat, no one to Hawks abilities though. one possible trade down that could get a 2nd rounder without moving us much, is if the Cards show interest in getting Cutler, or if they trade their first for Culpepper and the Vikes want to draft Cutler (this scenario is more possible) they just have to leap frog Detroit to ensure it, but the jump if there is competition would be worth a 2nd rounder and another later round pick. all there has to be is a market for Cutler, as I see it, the Ravens may have some interest, the cards, and Detroit which of course would be the best for us. If Williams, and Ngata are off the board then I would test the waters here, if they are both there and Detroit want to ensure the pick of cutler, then hell yeah I'd do it. and maybe get a 3rd or 4th rounder for a little move. which would also save us a little cap room.
  19. I like him too, however i see him in a 3-4, as a DE
  20. I understand he has had only a week to practice, However this is the most fundamental defensive game plan, no stunts, no safety blitzes, et cetera. D'Brick's inability to pick up a a DE that will never start in the NFL, is scary. What happens when they over load his side, what happens when they stunt and all of a sudden he is face to face with a 335 pound NT-he will be defeated. remember it only takes 2 plays an entire game to change the outcome of that game. he had two mistakes in about half a game. and they were against weak comp. just say no to D'Brick, and this has not been my newest stance, this has always been my stance. He will fail in the NFL, I too have watched him. If the Jets draft him, Aaron Schobel, should call the jets and thank them.
  21. ah ha, we don't know what kind of system we are going to run, not to mention he'll have a year or two to get bigger. LeCharles Bentley was about 295 when he entered the NFL he is now around 315. I think interior linemen can gain the weight easier than the tackles. he has talent, and he was the outland winner. it's not like we are drafting him on the first day. and his weight is only 285ish, 10-15 pounds wouldn't be imposible
  22. I like crowell a lot, the reason behind drafting Carrpenter is, I feel he is a special player, Crowell might have to start, but not at LOLB, but instead at ROLB, still many questions about the health of Spikes, he says he'll be ready, but it could be an injury he never fully recovers from. You might have a point about a lack of linemen, at the moment we might only have Preston and Eslinger as Back ups, if Trey Teague reduced his desire for money I'd consider bringing him back as a back up OT. Or bring in another low cost OT. I think that Baker is our future FS, and I might take Bing or Blue in the 2nd over a CB.
  23. gluten for punishment, so here goes Cut Mike Williams, save us lots of money. -Bennie Anderson-save us money -jeff Posey-saves us the highlights of other teams Extend Eric Moulds cutting cap hit. He had almost twice as many catches as our 2nd WR last year. resign Josh reed, he started to finally come around, but his future may take another turn. resign all who cost little to the team. Franny Clements, but see below Sign: Ted Washington-after release from Raiders, old but still the best DT Buffalo has ever had. -Peerless Price-sure he has struggled at other stops, that just drops his price. And he is a good 3rd or 4th option. -Matt Schobel-great athlete, good hands and a weapon in the passing game at TE -Ron Dayne-Big back that we need, another cheap FA, solid back up. -Brian Williams-nickel back in Minn last year, had 4 ints -Andy McCullum-aging vet, knows fairchild's system, and cheap. end result, 6 second tier free agents that need a fresh start Should combine to cost less than what we save after the williams and moulds moves. Trade rights of clements to NY Giants, for their 1st and a 4th. that way we don't have to spend a lot of money on one player, that struggled last year. this is how I see the first 8 picks going 1-Texans-Bush 2-NO-Leinart 3-Ttians-Cutler-Norm chow didn't talk about him much in the interview I heard, so he is interested, as good as young is, there is still a lot to teach him, and cutler went to college in Tenn. 4-Jets-young-to good to pass up. even with Ferguson on the board 5-Pack-Ngata-they need interior help more than a DE. 6-49ers-D'Brickashaw-a young LT to block for a young QB, they have not been too happy with Harris, and Jennings has been injured....go figure 7-raiders-AJ hawk-they are very weak at LB 8-Buffalo Bills-Mario Williams-2nd best defensive lineman in draft. Ngata is higher on my list. Big and athletic, compared to Peppers, I compare him to udeze but healthy and injury free. On paper so far our Line would look like Schobel-Adams-Washington-williams, size up the middle and speed on the outside, that's a tough line. 1b (from Giants) Winston Justice-He can play RT or LT, and should be available, lacks great size, but will be able to add quality weight. As a rookie I foresee him playing RT. 2-Aston Youboty-CB, or a safety if he is selected before this, I think he is a little bit of a project, but he is very similar to Clements. Brian Williams could man the CB spot until he is ready. then trade two 3rd for a 2nd, 2b-Bobby Carpenter-coming off an injury he should still be there, I love this kid, he is tough and a very good athlete, he has more than enough size to start at LOLB as a rookie. 4a-Greg Eslinger-he might be gone by this point, but in years past the 2nd and 3rd centers go in the middle round, undersized but behind mcCollum he'll have time to bulk up the 10-15 pounds needed. 4b(from Giants) kelly Jennings-another CB in case of injuries 5-Drew Olson-can play in the NFL, at the moment this is where I see him going, gives us a young back up, just in case. 6-Dwayne Slay-safety-big hitter, good athlete, could be future of position, or a good special teamer. 7-Gerald Anderson-big DT from Georgia-might not make team but is better than Bannan. Potential Starting defense Vincent(or Baker) and Milloy McGee and Youboty spikes-fletcher-Carpenter Schobel-Adams-washington-Williams -size up the middle, speed and good tackling on the outside, and average CBs and aging safeties Potential starting offense McGahee Shelton Losman or Holcomb Moulds Schobel Justice-Villarrial-McCullum-gandy-Peters Evans -better line, TE threat- and a new attacking offense (hopefully)-the change I would make with Reed is, I would make him a 3rd down back-for those who do not remember he was a running back early in his college career, so to convert wouldn't be too hard for him, he would also create more match up problems that way, and be more of a threat. go ahead and bash it, it's what we do best
