  1. 40 states allow medical marijuana, which it pretty much at this point what the feds have focused on. The recreational industry is a whole other ballgame. It should get interesting. But if you look at the $$$ in WA and CO related to the recreational industry, there ain't no way that passel of greedy bastards in DC are doing to shut it down. They'll do just what the states do, allow it and tax the hell out of it.
  2. 1) If they re-criminalize weed, that means all those for-profit prisons will fill up again. Cha-CHING. 2) If they threaten to re-criminalize weed, it may scare the small business owners who make up the industry. Then the corporate interests can move in and take over. Cha-CHING. 3) If they keep bandying the idea around, people are all whipped up into weed (when they're not worried about public bathrooms), and are distracted from a reality that includes DAPL pipeline is using Russian (not American) steel, that roads and bridges are still crumbling, and the money still pouring into Trump Inc from foreign countries. Cha-cha-cha-CHING. Always follow the money.
  3. It's a delicious irony that many of the people who voted for Trump are now slack-jawed...they "really didn't think he meant it!". Well, he probably didn't but he's an egomaniac who's painted himself into a corner. So now he's stuck. It's some consolation that he's probably every bit as miserable as the people who are targets of Bannon's hatred and bigotry. If it weren't for the fact that real people are going to suffer, it would be a very interesting test of the system. So far, checks and balances is working ok relative to the judiciary. (Gutsy call by the WA AG for sure, and good work by his team. As any Buffalonian knows, enough snowflakes will bury you - don't mess with them.
  4. Not to mention he gave the order and didn't bother to follow up. I think he went to bed, no? And he's so worn out from all this governing that he needs to get away for the weekend. This guy is making George W. Bush seem competent. Let's face it: in a moment of ego-stroked bravado he decided to run for POTUS to irritate everyone and get a shitload of free publicity. I firmly believe no-one was more shocked and dismayed than Twitler when he realized he'd won. The irony would be delicious except neither he nor most of his staffers are competent to run a bodega, let alone America.
  5. I agree. She was a flawed candidate, and ran a bad campaign. Just like Al Gore versus Bush. Would she be a better POTUS than Trump? Probably. She's really smart. Was she my choice? Nope. The problem with Trump is that the people around him are no more qualified to run the country than he is. I remember speaking with a nurse once (a Republican), who told me she recognized signs of Alzheimer's in Reagan when he was running...it worried her but she felt comfortable that he had smart, qualified people on his team. Only an idiot would make that claim about the Trump administration.
  6. "...in which they did not participate". I didn't say that. Others have stated it as if it was a fact. Based on what evidence, I can't say. I will agree that the many children I saw probably didn't vote.
  7. It would be smart to know who you're boycotting. Time Warner Cable is no longer part of Time Warner. So cancel your service - there's no impact on CNN unless you also don't subscribe to another service that offers CNN.
  8. As if you have any idea who they are, and whether they voted. Making that sweeping generalization is just as wrong as those who assume Trump voters are all toothless white guys living in trailers.
  9. ah so THAT explains why he panics and can't see wide-open receivers (unless they stop and stand like statues). Sorry, I liked the guy in college but he's a bust. He's got more time than any Bills QB in the last 10 years, or more - but you can tell by watching him he either can't see or can't decide. Whether it's true panic or lack of confidence in his receivers, who knows. But you just can't see putting the game in his hands. He just comes up a bit short. A better defense would help of course....This team is a bleeping mess. Thanks Rex.
  10. I remember a song on WCMF (Rochester) in the 1980's, to a Foreigner tune, loosely titled "Take the Bills Away".... 2 and 14 was poor, but that was 1984 now, it's 1985 and the Buffalo Bills are just barely alive... I think sung by Tyrone, the Buffalo Bills water boy So - yeah, I've seen people just as disheartened as we are now. In fact it seems to be the lot of a Bills fans. Some tremendous highs but for the most part, unrequited love.
  11. Cowher passed on it before. Waste of a totally good billboard.
  12. And what pray tell would you have them to do fix what's wrong? You are making an assumption that they have the POWER to fix it. That's the crux of the matter. You think they don't WANT to fix it? You think they CREATED it on purpose, and they PERPETUATE it because they like it?
  13. I've been to plenty of Bills games where douchebags don't remove their hats, talk through the anthem and start cheering before it's done. That to me is more disrespectful. This young man believes strongly enough in something to be willing to lose endorsements and take flak from a bunch of ignorant losers because of his principles. Let us not forget that dissent is the highest form of patriotism.
  14. If it's texts from knuckleheads why spread it here?
  15. Funny how no-one posted this. Guess no-one was paying attention. http://www.buffalonews.com/city-region/neo-nazi-sympathizer-confronted-by-350-counterdemonstrators-20160730
  16. Medical marijuana been legal in WA for quite awhile. Small business owner near me had terrible neuropathy in foot and had been prescribed opiates. She was required to be tested to insure she was taking, not selling, the drugs. She hated them as they made her fuzzy-headed. She switched to prescribed cannabis (liquid) and has not needed anything else in years. Also know of someone who had chronic hiccups, which can be debilitating. Went on for weeks. Dr. prescribed anti-spasm meds, relaxants, all kinds of stuff which did nothing but knock him out all day, then when he woke the spasms returned. In desperation he went to pot store, described what effect he was looking for to clerk (they are highly educated in the various strains and effects), went home, lit up, first hit - hiccups gone. For good. The stuff you get in the stores is not laced with crap or parsed out with herbs and other garbage, so it's quite strong. A little goes a long way
  17. All those who are upset (referring to Brits, not those of us who've seen our 401k drop) should probably have (a) actually voted and/or (b) looked beyond the slogans and promises. As it turns out the pro-exit gang is now having to admit that just MAYBE they exaggerated on the financial glories of leaving the EU. Iceland. That's just piling on.
  18. Re Scotland, I have a friend who's there now. He's a US CMO who is scouting out locations for their European expansion and was planning to open a branch there with 500+ jobs. He says they have an educated, talented workforce. That's going on hold. Hard to say what's going to happen but banks are already withdrawing investments. So it remains to be seen if the isolationism they apparently wanted comes back to bite them. On the upside they don't have to give money to Spain and Greece any more. Might as well flush it.
  19. There is a BillsBackers club in Seattle and a larger one in Portland. There are no group tickets available for the game, so everyone is on their own to get tickets. They are extremely overpriced at about $200+ for nosebleeds. Best pace to connect with these groups is via their pages on Facebook. The Homewood Suites is in a good location and that's an excellent price. If a mile seems too long there are buses that can get you close, or many Uber or Lyft cars available. Given the traffic it's probably easier to walk. I recommend people walk in pairs, it won't be that late, but it's a city at night. Should be a good police presence though, given the penchant the 12s have for getting drunk and beating up fans of the opposing team (even if their team wins).
  20. I saw another article where the figure was $400. That's plain scary. I can remember when $400 seemed like a lot of money, and to judge by some of what I read in these forums many of you weren't even born then . Seriously my mom taught all us kids to "pay ourselves" first, meaning bank money, pay bills and THEN have fun with what's left over, if anything. Sage advice. My kid started contributing to retirement with the first job at age 16. If my rainy-day fund drops below one year's mortgage, taxes and insurance (happens every year when the boat goes in for service) I have chest pains. The fact is that wages have not kept up with the cost of living in many areas, so those who are starting out or are in their early years working full-time aren't seeing the same trajectory of income growth that many of us older folks did.
  21. Well I tried but I couldn't outbid the $65m offered by Racist McShootface. Better luck next time.
  22. Given some of the wacky shirt, invective and hatred (against government, politicians, people and the world in general) you hear on this board, there's a 50/50 chance this guy was a member, eh? Anyone know his alias?
  23. SCOTUS can and will render decisions w/o a full roster. And without ultra-conservative Scalia, the lack of full court isn't harmful to progressive causes. As we've seen the other Justices can actually sometimes put the law and humanity before politics...which is kinda their damn job. Even if the GOP wins the White House, I doubt they could find anyone worse that Scalia who'd actually be confirmed (especially i they look to someplace like TX, AL, FL etc. for one of their patented evangelical creationist anti-human being wackos). The fact that Obama chose a fairly moderate guy who doesn't satisfy the extreme left or right, and that the Senate won't even consider him, only hurts the GOP which is already looking extremely stupid - and deservedly so - for it's hilarious "presidential" candidates.
  24. Anyone who doesn't realize that Trump is only running to add another trophy to his wall will be in for a rude awakening should he actually win. I think it's pretty funny that the people who are continually exploited and shat upon by the rich and powerful "ruling class" in America are the ones that will carry this guy forward. He could not care less about them. If he cared about them, as a billionaire businessman he could do plenty for them - but he hasn't. And as POTUS he will do nothing for them. Well, maybe create more of them as the middle class gets pushed further into the mud. He's a liar, and a hypocrite. He's not as batzhirtcrazy as Cruz, but he's every bit as ignorant and arrogant.
  25. I truly appreciate your quality contribution to the conversation. Dismissive, condescending, personal attacks add so much to the discussion and only enhance your excellent reputation as a great, open-minded intellectual. I take it the John Wayne wannabe buffoon in you just overcame you for a moment, eh? This guy is a high-ranking official and I presume knows his job. He's one data point - I offered it up because it was unexpected and a different viewpoint, which I found surprising. I'll take his word any day.
