  1. I just remembered a guy who worked for me is a Jags fan. This nice post saved him from a whole lot of trash talk not to mention a potential damaging reference, LOL. Let us just all be united in one fervent goal: regardless of who progresses, if they face the Patriots, Tom Brady and Gronk must be annihilated.
  2. Yeah how lucky was Pete Carroll that the Seahawks fired Jim Mora after just one year (a year in which the team record improved) to hire old Pete? Poor Pete was SHOCKED at these nefarious activities. SHOCKED and HURT. Just like he's SHOCKED and HURT that any of his players would [insert law broken] or cheapshot other players on the field. Poor Pete. Poor Poor Pete. If everyone around him is a skunk, it's got nothing to do with him.
  3. I imagine since the Turtle is not going to seat any member of the other party while there are tax scam bills or other stuff to be voted upon. Franken will probably go after that.
  4. It's been so long since we drafted a good QB...how would we know, LOL?
  5. I almost feel sorry for those poor schmucks who bought my remaining tickets. Almost. Lord know I've spent enough money on tickets and travel etc over the 30 years I've had season tickets (22 of those years I have not lived in New York State). Sigh.
  6. I bet Fred Jackson could still play, and he's selfless. Sigh
  7. Trump went after the NFL because they humiliated him decades ago. Trump isn't going to help the American citizens in Puerto Rico because they complained loudly at the tax dollars he cost them...and because they can't vote. Trump's world revolves around him. He's a psychopath. Period.
  8. Puerto Ricans pay most federal taxes. They are US citizens. Trumps failed golf course (the one in P.R., not to be confused with his other failed businesses or his failed government) cost those taxpayers $33m. They are not a priority because (a) they can't vote in US national elections and (b) they're brown. Period.
  9. So here's the thing - it's not about the flag. It's about using a bully pulpit to make a statement at a time when people are paying attention. Otherwise, why bother? Others have taken this and made it about the flag, about the song, and even about the military. It's not. It has nothing to do with any of them. It's just about some guys on their way to work who stop and make a statement. Then they go do their jobs. And what they're saying is "Hey, if you haven't noticed there are some bad cops out there killing people, and getting away with it. We should do something about it. Because what those bad cops are doing is un-American." No-one has to like it. But it's their right. And that's all there is to it.
  10. You may leave secure in the knowledge that there are many, many people who will take your place. And you'll be welcomed back should you ever change your mind.
  11. Richard Nixon almost got a mistrial for Charles Manson by telling the press during the trial that Manson was guilty. Some idiot attorney brought the paper to the trial...Manson saw it and held it up (which is why no mistrial, had someone else done it, different story). The point is when you're POTUS you're supposed to choose your words carefully knowing the impact they have. Trump is being a jackass, in general just spouting crap to play to his ignorant base, so the story is slightly different. Which is what he's hoping for - because at the end of the day, Mueller is still investigating, and Trump's hoping all these distractions will make people forget. Naw. I think we'll find that Trump's words help the protesters.
  12. ROFLMAO! And it's nice that so many people fall for the ruse of the evil media. It's a major conspiracy and you're all victims.
  13. Nineteen years ago I met a man named Mark and his wife Lee. Mark is a college professor. I believe Lee is also, or at the very least she is educated and holds a professional position. We'd bumped into each other on an internet forum. They were coming to town because they were adopting a newborn, so we decided to meet. They are white. Their son is black. Today their son is in college. He is a smart, handsome, athletic young man. He's on the football team. They are so proud of him. He sports an Afro hairstyle, which suits him. In today's America, this young man is still a target for some people because of the color of his skin, his imposing size or even his hairstyle. I am sure his parents worry about that. Hell, I worry about it, because I have photos of him as a sweet baby and know he's been brought up to be a good person. And, in today's America, this fine young man could end up dead just for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, or because he looks like someone else, or...just because. That's today's America. That's not saying America is a bad place. It's saying that this is a festering sore that will never heal until we face up to the issues, acknowledge they exist (even if they don't impact YOU) and commit to resolve them. We are so much better together than at each other's throats.
  14. A kicker has the same right to express his opinion as any American. If you don't like it, don't read it. You don't have to agree with it. I presume those who don't like it also don't like Scott Baio and Ted Nugent using their bully pulpits to express their opinions. Naturally. Because to laud them for speaking out while condemning someone else would make you hypocrites.
  15. Wish I had to time to go back thru the previous 9 pages to see how long it took the PPP brain trust to blame Obama.
  16. I am not interested in her shoes. But since victims of Hurricane Sandy are still waiting for the $1m Trump pledged for THEM, the Harvey folks might to better to take those shoes, put 'em up on eBay and use the proceeds to buy a small inflatable boat.
  17. I find all this winning completely exhausting. I just can't keep track of it, so much winning.
  18. Sorry friend - you created it, not him. He is entitled to feel concern ANYWHERE in this country (and others) as an African-American. It's not for others to tell him where he should and where he shouldn't worry. Unless you are also African-American and have had the same experience, it seems somewhat dismissive. And of course you weren't trying to be dismissive I'm sure. So let's just all celebrate this as a victory of sorts and agree that this is probably going to be another disappointing year of football for us. :-)
  19. Whatever happened to vocational training in high schools? Somewhere along the line this country decided that career choices were so limited that you either went to college or you were a loser who was going to pump gas the rest of your life...until self-serve came along that is . Or, you could join the military and perhaps learn a trade that would transfer to civilian life. But there are good-paying trade jobs out there. Welding is my personal favorite. $50+/hour. If you are an underwater welder you can live in cool places and make $125+ per hour. Why discourage people from learning a skill? Understand that wood shop in high school doesn't get you there but if kids are told their only choice to be "successful" is to go to a four-year college, we gonna get what we got. The assembly lines may get rid of the people through automation, but someone still has to build and maintain that equipment. I started at a liberal arts school and dropped out when I realized I wasn't going to pay the bills by quoting Aristotle. I went to a vocational school for 15 months. THEN when I was working full-time I finished my Bachelor's and Master's degrees. Took me longer but in the long-run it was learning the basic skills that got me in the position beyond minimum wage. AND what was ridiculous - I COULD have learned some of those skills in high school in VoPro, except that I was supposed to be college-bound and VoPro, according to the conventional wisdom in those days, was only for kids who were too dumb or otherwise just destined for less prestigious lines of work.
  20. It would be better if he'd get his fat ass off the golf course and his face out of his smartphone and do his job. This isn't an A&E reality show, it's real life. I realize the notion of "job" is somewhat foreign to him, but he wanted it and he got it. That goes along the line of "be careful what you ask for".
  21. Unfortunately a progressive agenda depends on people who are at least somewhat informed and who reject fear as a motivating factor in their political choices. Although 3m fewer people chose fear and ignorance, based on the system designed in the 1700's their votes didn't matter. Except of course to Orange Julius, who cannot tolerate losing anything, especially the popular vote. Too bad. He's very good at losing.
  22. Everyone laughed when Trump advisors recommended tuning him out. But those who really got suckered into thinking all those great steel and coal jobs were coming back - you should have taken their advice. This is just the latest: http://money.cnn.com/2017/03/03/news/companies/trump-keystone-pipeline-american-steel/index.html Face it the days when you graduate from high school with no appreciable skills and land a job for life with reasonable pay, good benefits and retirement fund - they're over. Yeah, you'll find some of that a few areas and occupations but in manufacturing, robots are taking over. iPads are taking customer orders in fast food restaurants. Etc. This isn't your father's or grandfather's economy any more. If you aren't cut out for a profession, learn how to maintain and repair the machines that will take your job. Especially welding. If you can weld, you can live. If you can weld underwater, you'll be rich, and you won't have to wear a tie. But whatever you do, don't believe a word from Trump's mouth. He is a consummate liar. I'm sure some of you want to believe him - do so at your own peril.
  23. Had to switch to Sarah Wrap because the #MAGAMorons snapped up all the tinfoil in local grocery stores. Never thought I'd see the day when I nostalgic for George W. Bush. Crap I'd take Nixon even.
