Guard position battle not going so hot
Best Player Available replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Legursky, was a scrub who wouldn't have started any games if not for injury. Why was he allowed to walk? he sucks. Judging by the FA cornerback signing recently and others, it appears that Whaley will continue the Bills tradition of dumpster diving. But they will pay 5 mil per for McKelvin?? A completely mediocre corner who would not have received anywhere close to that deal on the open market. And, hope they hit one a decent if unspectacular player once in awhile. Look at contenders, do they do the same year after year? Is this the way well run franchises build a super bowl contending team? or is this the way a team builds a 9-7 possible wild card team to placate the masses? The O-line could be a big issue this year including the RT spot. Marrone and company may be the only bright spot along with a couple of rookies this season. -
Peter King's visit to SJF
Best Player Available replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Peter King is simply changing players names, teams, locations and writing the same about every team on his "tour". I saw that posted somewhere else. Obligatory QB comments aside, like he says himself. it's hard to see much in a single 2 hour session. Plus he didn't have any insight on Mario's foot injury. What's up with that? -

New Pro Bowl Format Announced

It's a game of American football, where second and third string alternates, prance around and pat each others butts for 60 minutes. The NFL actually calls it entertainment. -
Wanna Make 4 Million the Hard Way?
Best Player Available replied to ExiledInIllinois's topic in Off the Wall Archives
The person or persons responsible should be held accountable, fired, charged, and spend some time in the cooler. This kids story is bad, but the guy in Arizona (I believe) who spent years in solitary without any charges against him was even worse. That guy got way more than 4 million. hard to believe this is the USA sometimes. -
Doug Marrone grows irritated
Best Player Available replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Twitter sucks. More about the twitterer than the twitee their writing about. Who cares if writer _______ ______ has made it to camp? It's laughable. To some it's about the football, the team, not the paid critics of the team. -
Doug Marrone grows irritated

If it is stalling one would think that the coach is not pleased at this point. Mario is a very good but not great football player. He played one year on one of the worst run defenses in franchise history. Not all his fault. But, he probably has a very limited space to play a prima donna with a new staff and a boatload of new teammates. The refrigerator is one thing, dodging camp while installing a new system is a whole new level. Hard to say maybe he is being very cautious or maybe he is just a wuss. This is a big year for the team and Mario. Marrone has his work cut out for him. I still marvel at Buddy Nixes ability to sell Mario and that mammoth contract to the bean counters at OBD. I still have hope he will bring it on this year, So far though he certainly cannot be accused of being a gamer. -

it's BS like these clowns pull, that make me miss the late great Larry Felser even more. Tim graham is a hack that should go back to the ESPN AFCE blog. At least there he wasn't over his journalistic head. Possibly the local press still have their panties in a wad since Brandon's state of the franchise pep talk on new years eve that included NO press. -

Should we be concerned about Dareus?
Best Player Available replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Losing family to murder must be brutal. But when does that depression labeling stop? Didn't Dareus even say he has re-committed? I think anyone in any job has a reasonable time to move on. Hopefully, the offseason helped him do that. This is the year for this guy to do it. Play to his potential. To be a conditioned dedicated beast deserving of his high pick. Enough of the excuses. That, for what it's worth he himself doesn't even make. -
The 2013 Training Camp Thread
Best Player Available replied to Heitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The session I believe you were referring to was without pads. Today, Tuesday I believe was the first time they were ALLOWED to wear pads per the CBA.The only people calling Kolb a "top flight prospect" are right here on this board. I see no evil genius in giving a rookie a break with blitz packages. I don't believe for a second that Marrone is trying to set up Kolb to fail. Kolb pretty much sucks, He's a stop gap. He knows that. and EJ is a complete unknown and has big question marks (except for QB starved Bills fans). Non contact drills show exactly what? I am in EJ's corner but these guys are starting camp. Marrone isn't about to screw with what little if any chemistry is on this for the most part new team. So far we have one holdout, one bad toe, a DT with HUGE question marks judging by Marrones checking out other options so far. Do you think Marrone would really be trying to make his "rookie look good" at the expense of chemistry in a QB battle. This is not pop Warner. I know these players aren't rocket scientists but Kolb also has value as a mentor too EJ. Marrone if he is playing his rookie up to "look good" Then he's possibly going to suck in his first year playing college level mind games. -
Shocking, the Bills win as paper champs two years in a row. And, still no respect. Maybe, they should play some games and reassess.

really? There not even in pads. I see early training camp with an extremely raw rookie. That's far from an evil genius. -
Portable tailgate TV questions..

A slingbox setup creatively hooked up somewhere in say a friends, or relatives house in Buffalo would allow watching anything including Bills games anywhere in the country, including tailgates in parking lots in orchard park. -

Byrd Skipping mandatory mini-camp
Best Player Available replied to mitchmurraydowntown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
please enlighten the masses with your brilliant salary cap and team building skills. Using today's FO management. The one's that sell off home games for the bottom line profit. It's doubtful if Byrd will be the highest paid FS "In the history of Football". Is dumpster diving for scrubs and mediocre talent the way to build a team in the modern cap era? Using of course the very pedestrian O-Lineman they signed today as examples. To plug holes. One thing for sure they do meet the model for cheap talent. The Bills have maybe 90% mediocre players or rookies and maybe 10% good ones but I am with you let ALL those good players walk, overpay for DE's, back up QB's and then wonder why the team sucks year after year...... At least the Bills are well below the cap and that's what's important apparently. Yes, the Bills except for the super bowl teams have always had problems attracting free agents, and rightfully so. They are one of the worst run franchises in all professional sports. Unless players like TO so hard up for work will accept the outrageously generous contract for a one year rental. No one wants to play here. Mario has 100 million reasons, what other good FA or pro bowl caliber player has signed here recently? -
A Big Thank-You to the Breeze who passed away Friday night at 74. JJ Cale was an American treasure, and come to think of it wrote plenty of "Haunting" tunes.

Byrd Skipping mandatory mini-camp
Best Player Available replied to mitchmurraydowntown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All good points, remember the thinking once they inked Mario that other FA's would start rushing to play with the Bills? Crapping on homegrown talent(s) doesn't make future contracts with current players or solid FA's any easier. It's doubtful a single Bills player is siding with managements dealing with Byrd. Quite the opposite, their most likely hoping they never get tagged so they can bailout when their contract is up.
