Head Coach candidate: Mike Shanahan
Best Player Available replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why is he supposedly interested in Buffalo now? is it because no one else in the league wants him?Google him and you will see he wanted the Michigin gig. that didn't turn out too well. Cannot debate his record. But complete control ? I don't know about that. Wouldn't Brandon etc. still be a bit miffed the way he played the Bills a couple of years ago? His superbowl wins are 20 years ago the same time the Bills last won a playoff game. he a retread. let him go somewhere else because he is not at the top of anyone's list I am aware of. For good reason too. -
My Pick is in.Chad "the gun" Kelly.

Polian's Advice to the Pegulas
Best Player Available replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
you're correct, but why can't they draft or scout FA's to save their lives on offense? They knew when Nix was here Levitre was probably leaving yet they get Doug Legursky a Steelers reject who cut him. and, the Steelers line sucked at the time. That should have raised at least a tiny red flag? And while Nelsons play at TE is (barely) acceptable. Is Lee Smith the best they Can find as a tight end prospect? gragg? I will leave the QB situation alone since that has not played out yet. Moving up for TJ Graham, it goes on throughout both the nIx and Whaley eras. if it is not scouting or the GM who is it? I guess it is easiest to blame the guy that just quit. But then Whaley and others hired these coaches. -

I'm not sayimg Marrone is without blame. yes Whaley drafted three lineman one a second rounder. Sorry again who is scouting these guys? He hits on a 7th rounder. Maybe they will develop but they looked horrible this season. HC rarely have time too babysit what his O-line coach is doing. or spend time with what his GM hands him. I do not believe and I am not defending him. That Marrones job title was HC and O- line babysitter. IMO some of the tension in the FO was the inability too get a decent O- line. And other assistant coaches inability too do their jobs. Whaley is as new at his job as the QB he took. Maybe he will turn out to be a great GM. Right now I do not see it. I love Watkins, and glad he is a Bill but that trade was horrendus and right now biting the team in the butt. No first rounder no viable QB going into the Offseason. And a O-line in complete freefall. maybe the new coaching staff will turn it around year one. i hope so. -

Whaley has had TWO years to fix the line. And that is not counting a year with nix at the helm and everyone knowing full well Levitre would walk. Whaley has failed big time there, and it affected his prize rookie QB and Orton. And the running game. And the passing game. Chris Williams 5 mil guaranteed. really? The guy was unemployed sitting on a couch when Whaley called him. A bust cut mid seaon once. Did he or his scouts even do any homework? And his predecessor was worse. legursky looked like a stud compared to those guards. Whaley is not without blame for the offensive woes. In fact IMO the biggest reason for them. Again who are his scouts on the offensive side of the ball? They suck. -
I thought it is more like 16 to 18 under the cap?

Whaley will head coaching search
Best Player Available replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, IMO one would be the Ralph Wilson era. A Primer on how not too run a franchise. Plenty of downside there. owner meddling as Bills fans have seen can at times can completely destroy chemistry. That's why a coach worth his salt would not even interview with the Bills at times over the 50+ years. Some of the better Bills coaches even quit because of ownership direct involvement Chuck Knox being a prime example. -

I do not know anyone that would call the OC as a KEY person. Who did he sign with? -

I guess everyone is good at sumthin. -
Absolutely, This would be huge. But most likely will not happen. Pegula could handle the salary demands. kelly most likely wants veto power on player acquisitions. Whaley is apparently tasked with finding a new HC. Just one reason why unless printed in blood, I don't see Kelly as a fit. Unless Pegula is familar with his style and since Whaley is not his hire, maybe he could accept Kelly's demands. And let Whaley go. Chances are slim but Chip Kelly in Buffalo would have some pieces he desires in running back and maybe even in EJ. certainly in receivers. if it was my money I would throw him 8 mil a year and the keys. really Kelly as HC is way more than I would ever expect to coach the Bills. But crazy stuff happens. Two days ago Maroon was still coach

Marrone : What will be his next dream job?
Best Player Available replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
owning his own line of visor caps. The next big thing. -
good post, BTW every single post and rumor at this point is unsubstantiated. So no harm there. On Polian though, it is time for fans to think that the magic of the superbowl era can be re-created with a now 72 year old commentator. if that was the plan we should have brought in Joe D. As a O-line coach I am sure he would have been better than what we had. i hope Maroon poaches the offensive staff completely.

Has Marrone even given a statement?

I know Who would think after a dominating 2 season run including both a 6 and 9 win run such a coaching star ( who won not 1 but 2 pinhead bowls too ) would be treated like that. man he was two games shy of almost being an average 500. Nothing is good enough for these fans not even a crap coach. Do you sit with the robot at home games?
