I suppose it's all relative to the other recent QB's we've been witnessing over the past decade or so isn't it?

When your 1st read is open it's going to look like you're staring the receiver down. Trent usually does a very good job of scanning the filed. That's one of the things I liked about him right from the start.

Someone please explain the Roscoe Parrish lovefest

What he said.... I'm not sure where the bad routes thing comes from. They look great to me. The problem has been more with the QB's of late and with the coaches ability to put Roscoe in the correct positions. -
My Youboty prediction. He started tonight, sure, but...

I thought Youboty was the Bill's best player on the field last night and thus it would be foolish to trade him away because he is showing progress and it is really just year 2 for him. His run support in open space was fantastic last night, along with soem real good coverage. -

Very true. There were a couple seasons where I and I'm sure many others were fooled into believing RJ was going to be a pro bowler based on his stellar camp performances. -

I should be able to make it as well.... -
And now he's a Patriot

I think you need to watch that throw again. It's on the season highlights clip on the official Bills site. It was anything but a heaved punt. If anything it was more like a line-drive well timed throw that could have had more air under it, if not for the perfect timing he implemented.

I am with you re: Tommy Harris. In hindsight, probably Ngata too... I don't think there was a better way to address RB last year than Lynch though. Lynch seems pretty close to a can't miss as long as he keeps his nose clean. Also, I think McCargo showed a ton of promise last year and was under-utilized for how well he was progressing once healthy. His style of play is perfect for this scheme.

The cap is entirely irrelevant to the point I made. Good Guards made 4 mil 2 years ago, now they make 7.....and so on. -

I'm with Bill... Fowler is vastly superior to what Ostroski was as a center. The difference for me is I think fowler has the intellect, understanding and technique (especially pulling) to be good but he has a lot of trouble being a stand up pass protector or a hat on hat run blocker. Centers like him should not be given one on one assignments in those situations. They should be the ones who help out on double teams or delayed pass rushers like LB's. -

Salaries, in no way, have been leveling off. I'm not even refering to '02.... They didn't "go bananas" til the new bargaining agreement like 2 years ago. And new contracts are currently up atleast 50% if not more from where they were 2 years ago. Interior OL are getting atleast twice what they were getting 2 years ago. Wr's and Db's too. Look at a guy like Berrian. An average receiver getting that contract? It's crazy... or krazy :-) -

Like in '07 where there were 2 linemen worth taking where we picked and both were already gone (Thomas and Brown-maybe). What a wasted pick that Lynch was! And then in the 2nd round when we took that crappy Poz kid (starting MLB) Staley and Grubbs were already gone and would have been backups, atleast to start. Sears and Blalock went soon after that. Most of you that I'm debating with have fallen victim to blaming the current regime for the failures of the past. -

How is signing Dockery, Walker and Whittle (all guys who can play now) in one offseason not making the OL a priority? Remember drafted O-linemen need time to develop. Or are you just combining the current regimes with the last 2? -

I see so signing Dockery and Walker (and Whittle) has no bearing on whether or not we needed to draft O-line? I'll admit that I would've been happy with an OL pick in the 2nd or 3rd round this past draft. Maybe to develop a Center to eventually unseat Fowler. -

I'm not sure what was advertised I guess... Other thoughts: Some of it is a comparison to previous Bills lines (as I mentioned since '96). Some of it was an offense with musical Qb's Some of it was an NFL offensive coordinator who didn't allow audibles. Some of it was that they still need to improve in the run blocking department. Some of it was no # 2 threat at WR and no threat in the red zone. Some of it was that I don't believe that great/good O-lines are made up of 4 and 5 pro bowl players like in Madden. -

I think it will be handled as a priority by the team, just possibly not right away. There's bound to be some back and forth depending on the agent and I maintain that if the Bills just simply give in without a negotiation, they will lose leverage with ALL players going forward. -

I'll leave Kelsay out because I agree with you re: him based on his production re: the other 2 - -There is a new cap in the NFL and many fans are still shocked and surprised by the size of the contracts for free agents, but it goes across the board to all teams and not just the Bills. -Walker played at a level far superior than most Bills fans expected last year. In my view he was our best lineman not named Peters. -Dockery is a proven road grader and had a decent though maybe unspectacular year. Many fans know what we have in him already from seeing him play with the Skins. -Lines are only as good as the continuity and chemistry of the 5 guys playing. -The guys we have played better last year than any Bill's O-line since '96 as far as I am concerned, especially in the pass protection department. As they play more together, they only are going to improve. This could only be looked at as a positive as I see it. The point is, these guys ARE decent linemen and the guys upstairs finally did know what they were doing in acquiring them. There are always going to be guys we pick up that don't pan out though too. That's the nature of the sport. The current regime in place has made large efforts to address both lines since arriving. -

Close the checkbook? The guy just got a new contract and has 3 years left on it. They're gonna take care of him but they can't just run out and throw money at him now. They would lose all leverage with all their players. It's funny to me that people think they may not take care of Peters. It may look ugly for a little while but it will happen. re: the second point - And neither does any other team that I can think of.
