  1. Oh. That's reasonable. After all, what's the chance you'd ever run across another Williams anyway? Let's stick to obscure names, where we know we can't go wrong. Like......Flowers???
  2. ?????
  3. That's because guys like Brady, Roethlisberger, Favre, and Manning don't need good offensive lines. Heck, they've played most of their careers behind subpar lines similar to what the Bills have.
  4. Joe Thomas, eh? I've heard of him.
  5. They have more talent than people realize because Phil Savage was very good @ evaluating talent and stocked them very well. Look @ how Ed Hartwell and Bart Scott came out of nowhere to play very well for the Ravens when Ray Lewis was hit w/ injuries.
  6. Yep, they sure did. Again, when it comes to the draft, I look @ the on the field issues mainly. As long as there's no rap sheet on the guy, I could care less about that stuff. The "laziness" thing is what they always come up w/ to use as a 'con' for guys when they can't find something else, anyway. Kinda like calling a guy a troublemaker for playing a prank involving a pizza (wonder who that was; hmm....). What Watson needs is good coaching and guidance. I hope he gets it.
  7. I haven't seen evidence that his knee is a question. I think, other than Ferguson, Winston has had the best season this year of all the OT prospects. It's amazing he's even on the field after his injury, let alone playing @ the level he currently is.
  8. IF there's no pass rusher (read: Kiwanuka or Williams) available, then that wouldn't be a bad idea, I suppose. First and foremost, I'd love to see our pass rush upgraded. Why? Because the top 2 pass rushers in this draft, Williams and Kiwanuka, appear to be very special guys that you can just plug in there and they'll provide the pressure you need. Considering the instability we'll have @ corner (depending on what Nate does), we'll need to revamp the pass rush to make it easier on the guys outside. I'm sure the safeties will appreciate it too, especially if there's a youth movement there as well. That, plus it'll help us get the D off the field on 3rd downs.
  9. Have you seen Winston play this year @ all? His knee looks about as shabby as Thurman Thomas' did coming out of Oklahoma State.
  10. Neither Wroten or Wright is the kind of big, run stuffing DT the Bills need. In terms of DTs, I'd much rather see us go after Gabe Watson later on if we're not going to go after Ngata. It's hard for me to believe a guy as strong as Ferguson is w/ his kind of athleticism, and one who plays against top competition regularly (ACC, as opposed to someone from a weaker conference who is earning rave reviews) is going to be a bust. It could happen, but I don't think it will. For lineman, especially ones who end up on bad teams, it's always tough to gauge them early on. For example, since New Orleans is having such a crappy year, the tendency is to think Jammal Brown is not having a good year. If you watch the Saints play, and I have on a few occasions (including the time I went to the Bills-Saints game this year), you'd see that Brown is more than likely the best offensive lineman the Saints have and is doing a solid job as a rookie.
  11. No, I do get your point. I'm only saying that it's natural to want to steer clear of ANY drama once you've gotten yourself out of some. If some abused wife is finally able to get free of her husband, she probably won't go looking for another abusive drunk to latch onto, would she?
  12. Sorry, but I wouldn't take Ngata over D'Brickashaw Ferguson and I certainly wouldn't take him over Mario Williams. That said, I do like the kid and if Ferguson and Williams are gone by our pick (very likely), I'd hope he's around.
  13. I just sent you a response to your PM, but I'll post it here also. I'd say he's about the 3rd or 4th best guard prospect in this draft. He'll probably be a late 2nd/early 3rd round choice, depending on how the combine plays out (and any all star games beforehand). As a guy we could get later on, I like Texas' Will Allen. If we're going to target a guard earlier than the 4th (where I feel we could land Allen), then I say we use a 2nd round pick on Max Jean-Gilles of Georgia, the best guard prospect available.
  14. My house? Well, I could use someone to come over and clean the guttters and remove the yard waste that I was too lazy to get rid of before winter hit. Sure. Come on over.
  15. You're an all pro too, Johnny, if you want to be. Just think positive thoughts.
  16. Dammit, what was I thinking? I should've remembered we're the only option to any player in free agency. My bad.
  17. Perhaps. Either would be an upgrade, though I'd really rather see Hutchinson here if we could only land one. I still don't think either will be here next year, but we can dream.
  18. We'd be lucky to get anyone, w/ all the chaos surrounding this team now I just don't know how attractive we'd be to ANY prospective free agent. That said, I can hope for Steve Hutchinson to line up @ LG for the Bills, can't I? Even more so than Bentley (I'd be willing to make do w/ Preston @ center), I'd love to see us end up w/ perhaps the 2nd best LG in football after Alan Faneca.
  19. You're helping support my statement. I don't fault Schobel, but I am sick of this team not having a pass rush good enouhg to take the offense off the field! Schobel doesn't have to go, but what should happen is that the Bills add to his abilities so that the can develop a pass rush. Imagine if you had Schobel on the left side w/ a stud pass rusher like Mario Williams or Mathias Kiwanuka on the right side? I sure would like that better than what we're using now.
  20. How do you know it isn't proven scientific fact?
  21. Schobel is pretty good, but the things I notice about the Bills (snicker) pass rush is: 1. Third downs are frightening. We can't count on the defense forcing the opposing offense off the field w/ any regularity. 2. Turnovers. Remember those? I vaguely do. 3. Time of possession. Ugh! It ain't pretty. A team w/ a strong pass rush can come out on the winning side of those 3 factors. The Bills cannot, which is why I hope (probably against hope) that we land a stud pass rusher like Kiwanuka or (even less likely) Mario Williams.
  22. Shouldn't that be 'people who live in grass houses should get stoned'?
  23. ...and let's not forget the anal retentive board for the stone throwing crowd. Watch out for broken glass!
  24. Um....is there something you want to tell me, Scott?
