    I’m not sure about objectives, but the sheer inconsistency with rules enforcement is why the NFL is the worst officiated league in all of sports.

    The guard is lined up with his helmet breaking the center’s hip like he should be. Taylor is lined up with his helmet breaking the guard’s hip, which puts his helmet behind the center’s ass, which is illegal according to the rules. The OT must also line up with his helmet in line with the center’s hip. That is clear as day in the clip above.

    I agree with all of this. If the penalty is not going to be called, then the league should remove any pretext and just amend the rule and allow OTs to line up behind the center’s ass when they want to. It makes no sense to have rules if there is no intention of enforcing them.

    Jones said before the game that he is prepared to sit out the first eight weeks but not longer so he can qualify for a year’s service.

    Perhaps, but Taylor’s been doing this a lot in his career whereas Brown hasn’t. All OTs cheat a little, but never this bad.

    Chiefs coaches better tell Taylor to wise up because he shows a tell on every play. Pass he’s way off the line, run he is up on the line.

    Seems that way, right? This is an embarrassment for the league on opening night in front of a world audience and I doubt Taylor will get away with it moving forward. But the Lions coaches should be all over it with the refs as well.

    The OT’s head has to line up with the hip of the center. Some lineman take liberties even with that.

    Every starting QB that’s been in the league a few years is on a first name basis with the refs. It’s always been like that.

    As long as the refs call the game the same way for both teams, I have no problem with any crew.

    Yep. Bernard didn’t win the job so much as Dodson et al lost it. And he’s gonna be a prime target for the Jets run game coordinator to exploit like they did last year in NY. That said, the D is healthier than at any time last year and we will have Milano alongside him.

    I think the Steelers have a dominant D line as well, but I don’t put any stock in preseason games except to see if guys are winning their one on one battles and yeah, our guys got abused up front. But there was no game planning, which is critical when it comes to blocking schemes vs. various teams and personnel.
