  1. Stay home as much as possible. Go out for essential needs only.
  2. The decision to reject the WHO offer did a lot to stymie early control efforts. It was a mistake of epic proportions. Senseless really. It’s absolutely true.
  3. Now the pressure is on Allen? Now? You and everyone else who hated the pick have put the pressure on Allen from the moment he was selected in the draft. That said, every starting QB in the NFL is under pressure, regardless.
  4. A comedian dies and goes to heaven. God greets the man and they have this conversation: God: So, I understand you were a comedian in life. Comedian: Yep. Made a great living making people laugh. God: That’s great to hear. How about telling me a joke then. So the comedian proceeds to tell God a joke about the holocaust. God: That wasn’t very funny. Comedian: Guess you had to be there.
  5. That’s what makes this virus so insipid, we don’t quarantine until we show symptoms. Meanwhile, we are serving as vectors as it incubates; unaware that we have it. Crazy.
  6. I have a hunch the 5th grader is gonna be a big help to those 3rd graders. Best of luck to all of you!
  7. That would be the single most effective way to flatten the curve, not overload the health care system, and get ahead of this.
  8. The epidemiology of this virus is creating this mess.
  9. Well, in response to the Ebola scare, we actually created and put in place a uniform pandemic response strategy with a clear chain of command across several inter-agency departments, including the NSC, DHS, NIH, and CDC. In 2018, that was ended. For whatever reason. That is all I’m gonna say.
  10. There’s a line between mass hysteria and implementing stringent, common sense public health measures. Bottom line is that ANY potential for groups of people to gather, especially in closed spaces, has to be curtailed. Limiting exposure is the first line of defense.
  11. Sorry, I’m not buying this explanation. “If” was used as a conditional tense for “one is sick” and then goes out and spreads the virus. Fine. But then you conceded that it is exponential and inevitable. Those facts don’t depend on the conditional if because the virus is exponential in its spread and it’s spread is inevitable, regardless. Thus, I saw the contradiction. We’ve beaten this to death. Anyway, stay healthy.
  12. “Exponential”, “inevitable”, “recipes for disaster” all struck me as not lending themselves to “not as big a deal...” No worries, I’m not making a negative comment about your position on the matter. I sincerely hope it continues to be less of a big deal for you and everyone else as well.
  13. I’m struck by the contradiction between “thinking this virus is not the big deal it is being made it to be” and “it is exponential and inevitable.” I agree entirely that these scenes of hordes tightly compacted in confined spaces is a recipe for disaster.
  14. Ultimately, it’s about safety. And in order to ensure the highest level of safety, we need to know what the numbers REALLY are! I am F ing livid that testing has been deliberately suppressed for cheap political gain. My apologies in advance if that comment invites unwanted debate (that is not my intention AT ALL), but it appears to be the truth and needs to be said. How else can we explain having a 6 week head start and STILL coming up so woefully short in such an important matter of public safety. It’s shameful.
  15. Am I allowed to say our collective preparation and response has been “embarrassing?” There is simply no excuse for this ineptitude. None.
  16. Depends entirely on who is doing the branding. IMO, it’s the SAFE thing and that trumps all other considerations.
  17. Yeah, as much as we were out of it, I still looked forward to seeing Eichel, Dahlin, etc.
  18. Thanks for pointing this out as it is no small consideration. There are major inherent inequities relative to the online approach.
  19. Interesting. What happens when that assembly of the people conflicts with the constitutional mandate of the government to promote the general welfare of the people?
  20. Well, while you’re enjoying your “bad cold” please quarantine yourself so you don’t infect others who may have a far worse experience with the virus than you.
  21. This bold section made me laugh. When JohnC himself lays down that kind of ultimatum it’s getting serious! I agree with your assessment that the NHL will soon follow the NBA’s lead in suspending the season. It’s the responsible thing to do. Same goes for all leagues in sports around the world. Large gatherings need to be avoided until we get ahead of this thing. The reality is that simple.
  22. I wish I could disagree with any of that, but I can’t when I look at where we are, what’s in the pipeline, and the sheer amount of time it’s gonna continue to take to turn it around.
  23. Suffice to say, Bania was comedy gold, Jerry! Gold!
  24. Have caught up to this season. Might be the best one ever.
