  1. Bill called, he needs to you on the Pats message board ASAP. They're readying the annual pyre to Victor Kiam hoping that will turn the season around for once. EDIT - Freakin thing...
  2. He's a great insurance policy for injury. I'm hoping this week's utter destruction through 3 other weapons will start to cause defenses to adjust away from Diggs. Maybe with the Week 1 turd in their past they'll return to a higher dose of 4 and 5WR sets. They just seemed to get spooked by the Watt game, and vs HOU may have a chance to dial in some other sets.
  3. That's fine. The whole point is that the team was unprepared for a situation where a kick was short and directional. The up men were wholly thinking they needed to block. Someone didn't do their job, and I'm pretty sure is the guy who is coaching Special Teams.
  4. You're allowed to have two return men back. It may actually be advised in a strong kicking headwind. Unfortunately every NFL team does exactly the same thing every time on these seemingly forgetable plays until they get burned.
  5. This is fair. Unfortunately the New England-based ESPN and other sympathetic media types (Ian Crap) are in the tank. First week, Mac Jones is Brady Jr, second week, he's the greatest...and Belichick has been billed as being so ever-loving awesome that this kind of normal trajectory of "rebuild" is utterly impossible for someone with this level of NFL pwnage. So with all of that - deserved that the rest of the league gets to yuck it up a bit at the expense of a fan base that has done absolutely nothing besides bought tickets and supported a guy who has used every underhanded technique to get an edge on an opponent. Sorry. The title of this thread is right - the fraud is that he's like just about every other coach, and is fortunate to have developed perhaps the greatest QB of all time under his watch.
  6. Lack of understanding of kickoff vs punt. Live ball. McKenzie has to bust his ass to catch it. He didn't. Then it's a free-for-all and the team that knew what they were doing got the ball. At least this time they didn't lose the game because their Special Teams seem arrogant and underprepared.
  7. I think that works much of the time, but I'm sure the coaching staff got annoyed with Josh's inaccurate swing passes. You really can't afford that in today's NFL, he had that all figured out last year. Sure, 50% Comp% when half your throws end up 20 yards downfield is to be expected. But when you're dinking and dunking, you have to be stringing passes together at a 65+% clip (or breaking tackles for big RAC). Allen was off, and the quicker he figures out where that went wrong, the quicker things return to 2020 form.
  8. Sure, when you go up against an elite QB who can score 50, you have to play shootout ball. This game wasn’t that. It takes a good coach to understand the situation. Maybe some lays on Allen, there may be calls he made at the line which he chose to stay in pass mode. In any event, this game was lost on the punt block, but the offense had better sort out its woes quickly.
  9. The GR guys enjoy this "throw it 60 times" mentality because unless you have Brady or Mahomes or Rodgers you're losing, which gets them more listens than when they win. Nobody wants run heavy or balanced - but you have to make the defense respect the play action. That will create more room for a QB struggling with a little accuracy to fit balls.
  10. It really lays suspect the McDermott/Beane obsession with drafting DL. This league is "throw it everywhere quick" and we're starting an undrafted player at CB2. It's not easy to get to good QB even when you beat your guy. Seems like these guys are a little behind in the times.
  11. Notice how everyone who deals with Belichick, Brady, etc always talks well of them. It's a ploy. Keep your friends close and enemies closer. You can bet McVay let his guard down.
  12. Show me the podcast from Sunday night and then we can talk about this being real.
  13. Yeah I think you have to look at the secondary for the big concerns. I don't think Davis is an answer either. That 2nd & 23 completion to Brown will get a lot of play in the DB film room today. Major breakdown.
  14. Guessing his ears may have been muffled...can't imagine what could do that...
  15. More of a legitimate concern is how easy it is to open an account on message boards these days...
  16. I can Google an otologist if it will help...
  17. Middle columns are Def Play Count & Percentage used...i.e. 80 total defensive plays, Edmunds out there for all 80 or 100%.
  18. Kyle Orton got them to a 9-7 record and didn't get Dalton pulling one out of his rear. Call him out of retirement pls!
  19. Sorry, that thread is running across the middle, kinda like most of the open receivers Tyrod couldn't be bothered to locate.
  20. It's almost as if he had a checkered past..........
  21. Tyrod was a threat, but a competent pocket QB is a much greater threat. The thing that was supposed to be Peterman's strength was his ability to recognize the defense and react at the line with quick adjustments and decisiveness. But we've now seen that he can't do that vs. good NFL defenses. He hesitates and doesn't have the tools to overcome. Allen gives you a chance, but after that CIN preseason game I'm pretty sure his defense recognition/adjustment abilities are not where they need to be yet.
  22. I won't say this is totally off-base, but the season is young. There is a ton of room for improvement out of many players. The fact it got to 40-0 so quickly is embarrassing for players, coaches, and fans alike. It's also quite likely that Baltimore is significantly better than we're used to seeing. There are a lot of young guys who have an opportunity to work to get their chance to become leaders on this team. That being said, McDermott's staff has a delicate situation the next few weeks. Losing the locker room would stall development, as players would lose confidence in their ability to make a difference. They need a much more competent result vs. LA Chargers. Keep it close, harass Rivers, put up 20 points on offense, etc. Nobody wants moral victories over actual victories, but I think that you take what you can at this point just getting through this difficult opening stretch to the schedule.
  23. Dude was a moron for saying what he said about Brady's daughter. You do have to say though, for a remark that basically seemed to be largely ignored for a while, Brady was able to turn himself into the victim for yet another time. Sure, he was wronged. But some people just decide to not dignify it. And he could have probably talked to management at the station and gotten the guy in hot water without the grandstand. Instead he's gotta play the snowflake game and flail around on the ground like a soccer player. It almost plays like it was staged.
  24. This has to be one of the better observations I've seen. One thing that pops to my mind, which might explain him wanting out quickly, was that he wants to start his next career ASAP. Maybe he's got some ins to become an ass't coach in college or the pros, and just wanted to move on. I can imagine that it was a very innocent situation - the team gave Wood the time to settle his feelings about his health/career, he assumed because the team said nothing that it was merely a couple signatures and a goodbye presser. Then when they started talking about "business" at a function that should have mostly been about the closing of a chapter of a loyal player, that made everything different.
  25. At this point, it's tough to give them a lot of grief. They were green when they hired Rex and have been advised by everyone's favorite salesman. The fact that they are taking a personal approach to this situation gives me hope that they see the discord within Football Operations. My guess is that they'd prefer not to have to eat a bunch of money in doing a complete reset of the organization. The problem with that mindset is that the parity in the NFL can still get this team to 7-9 or maybe even 8-8. Sure, that's not the playoffs, but it's spinnable ("They had a winning record over the final 14 games ..."). I think Roman saw a lack of progress with TT in camp and knew their days were numbered. He tried to plaster over the problems by simplifying. It might get ugly under Anthony Lynn, but hopefully this "get it into the playmakers' hands" approach will give ownership a clear path forward into 2017, and likely one which involved starting over in drafting a new QB and instituting a new leadership structure within the organization.
