Jacksonville releases Zay Jones. Homecoming?
The Jokeman replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'd definitely bring him back, his 2nd best season ever was in Josh's rookie year. To me he's affordable depth/starting material if needed type. The only draw back is he does play STs. -
He's 28 and honestly while better than what we have, the question is at what cost? If it's a 2nd Round pick sure, if it's more than I have reservations. I also have questions since he really not been as good as he was in 2020 so might be overpaid and as tight we been against the cap perhaps it isn't the wisest of moves.

What's the point of this team's philosophy?

Josh's strength is his ability to get the ball to WRs quickly. In part due his arm strength, Tom Brady did this with pre snap reads. Josh does to an extent but don't think he sees it same way Tom did. As how many times have we seen Josh miss the open guy and forcing a ball into a tight window (see 2nd down throw to Shakir vs Diggs). That's why we've seen teams play more complex zones vs us which confuses John and causes him to go into hero mode. Toss in playing man on man can spell disaster if you don't cover a guy or you leave Josh a lane to run. -

Bombs away isn't consistent. Yes, Allen can throw it 65 yards down field but to ask a WR to get open on that route or time things perfectly is no easy task as we saw with Diggs' playoff drop. Instead you play small ball to keep moving down field until get a TD or hopefully get a FG aka put points on the board. Sure you can throw a deep pass every so often to take a chance and/or keep the defense honest but to think you're going to hit one with any form of consistency is just foolish. I'll admit Coleman wasn't in my short list of WRs I wanted to us to draft. Yet I've been wrong before as I admit I never expected Josh Allen to be a top 5 NFL QB and even muttered Wrong Josh when he was drafted because watching the clips in college he wasn't always taking the way throw to move the chains and seemed like a guy who threw it long or a ball that most of the time wouldn't get completed. The more you watch the more you realize the best way to beat an opponent is don't beat yourself. As most games nowadays are won and loss by a handful of plays. -
My point being free agency affects how you draft.
-
But he added guys in UFA that started in Brown, Beasley and Sanders.

The only pick I truly disliked was Travis Clayton. I mean he's a major project and can't even contribute on ST as can't see him as a return blocker. As I stated in the draft thread, he's got great athleticism but just don't see him panning out at all.
-
If he makes the 53 yes, if he's on the PS no we get an extra PS spot.

I understand the wanting him from athletic stand point but rarely do these types develop. We can hope another Jason Peters but with I'm gonna say Meh.

We needed a return guy. I'm not upset with this pick. -

He was on the 53 man when he wasn't hurt last season. Not saying he will in 2024 but... -

Shorter is still developing but I know we should throw him out with the bath water. -

We have two picks left, we could take both but wouldn't be shocked if take a CB and WR.
