Fans rip coaches, refs, some players, announcers and writers. Most of those doing the ripping are unable to do any of those things half as well as those they rip. The Internet and Twitter are the refuge for the talentless blowhards to criticize, and produce little of value, anonymously of course.

Always thought it was comical that some fans in every sport think that their team is getting screwed by the refs, the league, and the journalists. Allen has always had accuracy issues. The coaches might be able to fix it, but QBs rarely become magically more accurate as the competition gets better.

I will put it another way. If I think Player A is garbage and my team selects him, am I a pessimist for thinking he will fail? If I think Player A is good and my team selects him, and I then think he will stink, I am a pessimist. It is those that change their minds on nothing other than hope that are irrational. Opinions should not change unless there is new evidence presented. By the way, to be a pessimist is to think nothing will ever work out. I think the Bills finally have a good coach after their worst coach, ever. The GM I liked until he made the biggest blunder of the draft by taking Allen. No matter how hard or far you can throw a ball, if you can't make good decisions and accurate throws under pressure, you are almost certain to fail. When you can't perform at a high level in a second-rate college conference, I don't like your chances in the NFL. Two qbs beat Allen out for best in the conference. TWO. Great guy to pin the hopes of a franchise on.

If I thought Allen was the only player I did not want the Bills to take before the draft, why should I change my mind, now? OTAs? That isn't pessimism or optimism. It is consistency of thought. Those that change their evaluation of a player after their team selects or does not select him are operating irrationally. Pessimism is when you get what you want and then say it was actually the wrong thing to get.

I will guess D is mediocre and O will be among the worst. QB is worse than last year. OL is much worse than last year. WR is a horror show unless Jones improves a lot. If Allen works out, they might be a contender in 2 years. If not, it will be more extended ugliness. I will be surprised if Allen becomes a franchise QB.
